Abstract

This study describes the transportation methods that regulate and distribute resources that provide products where they are needed to achieve efficient transportation costs. Solve a transportation problem in this thesis using the Improved Exponential Approach method, then using the NWC (Northwest) method to test its optimization. The purpose of this research is to get more optimal results as initial consideration to increase the distribution cost savings in the Bread Company. Costs incurred by the company before the study amounted to Rp.3,218,000. The results of this study found that the application of the transportation method using the Improved Exponential Approach method is effectively used compared to the NWC method which has a comparison of transportation costs of Rp. 2,612,500 and Rp. 2,785,000, Optimization test results obtained from the Improved Exponential Approach method amounted to Rp2,612,500. And the Improved Exponential Approach method used by researchers can be applied to the Gardenia company.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find a numerical solution to the mathematical model of DHF in Makassar using the Runge-Kutta fourth order method. The mathematical model of DHF is in the form of a system of differential equations that includes variables S (Susceptible), E (Exposed), I (Infected), and R (Recovery) simplified into classes of vulnerable (S), exposed (E), infected (I) and cured (R) as initial value. Parameters value that is solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta fourth order method with time intervals h = 0.01 months using data from South Sulawesi Provincial Health Service in 2017. Based on the initial value of each class, namely: obtained (Sh1) =10910.4, (E) = 0, (Ih1) = 177.9 , (Sv1) = 5018685.6, (Iv1) = 135.4, and R = -981612.3. The initial values and parameter values are substituted into numerical solutions to the model simulated using maple as a tool.

Abstract

this study examines the associated issues in delayed care-seeking behaviour from malaria in households in rural Central Cross River states. Specifically, this study examines the extent to which belief in traditional medicine and household income relates to delayed care-seeking behaviour in household members suffering from malaria. The descriptive survey method was utilized to collect data from 1,229 participants from Central Cross River State, Nigeria. 1,224 The participants were selected using the multistage sampling technique. Data was collected using a self-developed structured questionnaire and in-depth interview guide. Elicited data was analyzed using descriptor and parametric statistics. Data collected from the in-depth interview conducted on five participants in the study area were thematically analyzed. Out of the 1224 quantitative instrument distributed, 1065 was judged to valid to the researchers. The analysis revealed that belief in traditional medicine and household income were significant determinants of delay in care-seeking behaviour among grow household members suffering from malaria. The study calls for policy change towards malaria care for rural households in Central Cross River states.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on every industry globally, especially the transportation industry being severely disrupted. With people's travel demand at an all-time low, maintaining the country's transportation infrastructure is crucial to ensure the movement of essential goods. However, the Vietnamese government’s decision to apply social distancing measures to limit and prevent the spread of the disease has generated extreme challenges in the freight transport industry, which have harmed the Vietnamese economy by restricting levels of business activity, causing the movement and distribution of essential commodities to be halted. Based on the practical needs of transportation enterprises, this study proposes a low-cost freight allocation strategy using mix-integer linear programming approaches to ensure an efficient operation for businesses in order to resume normal operations in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic's complex development. The research focuses on developing a mathematical model with an objective function that minimizes total cost and associated constraints. The findings of the study point to the development of a solution that solves businesses problems in determining the optimal transportation plan and assist in making decisions on allocating goods to suitable locations, ensuring the quantity of serving the needs of each district in Ho Chi Minh City, minimizing transportation time while still saving costs. Furthermore, the article aids a decision-making process for other transportation industries.

Abstract

The rapid rate as well as the volume in amount of data churned out on daily basis has necessitated the need for data mining process. Advanced by the field of data science with machine learning approaches as new paradigm and platform, it has become imperative to provide beneficial support in constructing models that can effectively assist domain experts/practitioners – to make comprehensive decisions regarding potential cases. The study uses deep learning prognosis to effectively respond to problematic cases of cancer in Nigeria. We use the fuzzy rule-based memetic model to predict potential problematic cases of cancer – predicting results from data samples collected from the Epidemiology laboratory at Federal Medical Center Asaba, Nigeria. Dataset is split into training (85%) and testing (15%) to aid model validation. Results indicate that age, obesity, environmental conditions and family relations (to the first and second degree) are critical factors to be watched for benign and malignant cancer types. Constructed model result shows high predictive capability strength compared to other models presented on similar studies.

Abstract

This study aims to know the description of mathematical communication skills in terms of students' mathematics ability in class IX in solving problems on the subject of quadratic equations. The type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. There were 6 research subjects namely two students that have high-ability, two students that has medium-ability, and two students that has low ability. The instruments used in data collection are written tests and interviews. The results showed that subjects with high mathematical abilities were sufficiently able to describe and state problem situations in written or image form properly, were able to use mathematical symbols and terms appropriately and were able to connect algebraic expressions into mathematical ideas. Subjects with moderate mathematical abilities are able to use mathematical symbols and terms appropriately but are less able to describe and state problem situations in written or image form properly and are also less able to connect algebraic expressions to mathematical ideas. Subjects with low mathematical abilities are not able to describe and state problem situations in written or image form properly and correctly, are less able to use mathematical symbols and terms appropriately and have not been able to connect algebraic expressions into mathematical ideas. The results of this study are expected to add insight and improve students' mathematical communication skills, especially in solving math problems related to the application of everyday life.

Abstract

The Box-Jenkins method is a statistical method used for forecasting time series data. This method uses data in the past as the dependent variable. The data used in this study is data on the amount of rice production in Maros Regency which was taken from 2001 to 2018 which was taken from the Central Statistics Agency of Maros Regency and the Department of Food Security, Food Crops, and Horticulture of South Sulawesi Province. The results obtained show that the ARIMA(0,2,1) model is a suitable model to predict the amount of rice production in Maros Regency. Forecasting results show that the amount of rice production in Maros Regency has increased every year with an average increase of 3807.1 tons.

Abstract

Cluster analysis is an analysis in multivariable statistics that is used to group objects that have the same characteristics. One of the methods in cluster analysis used to group relatively large amounts of data is the K-Means method. In this study, the K-Means method was applied to classify sub-districts in South Sulawesi Province based on village potential. The variables used are the number of: Elementary School/Equivalent degree, Junior High School/Equivalent degree, Senior High School/Vocational School/Equivalent degree, Community Health Center/Pustu, Families without electricity, Villages/Urbans according to market presence, Villages/Towns that are passed by public transportation and Villages/Kelurahan that have lighting main road. The results of this study are that 3 groups are formed where the first cluster consists of 107 sub-districts that have high village potential, the second cluster consists of 16 sub-districts that have medium village potential and the third cluster consists of 184 sub-districts that have low village potential.
