Abstract

One of the Study Programs in the Poliban Mechanical Engineering Department is the Heavy Equipment Study Program. One of the courses contained in the Heavy Equipment Study Program Curriculum is Basic Welding which is taken in semester IV with a weight of 2 credits. To find out whether students really master their field, a reliable evaluation tool is needed, because this evaluation tool must really be able to reveal whether the results of student practice have met the criteria or not. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the welds on the practical results of semester IV students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Heavy Equipment Study Program, using tensile and macro testing. It is hoped that the target of student lectures can be achieved. This research took the population of the Poliban Heavy Equipment Study Program Semester IV. While the research sample was taken 18 students who carry out welding practice. Based on the yield stress obtained, there are 2 specimens or the equivalent of 11.11%, which is below the standard of the Yield Strength of ST-37 steel or the equivalent of AISI 1045, which is ≥ 310 N/mm2, so the percentage of acceptable student welding results is 88. 88%. Based on the results of the visual inspection, there were four specimens that broke off in the weld area or equivalent to 22.22% of the test results, so that the percentage of acceptable student welding results based on the visual inspection results was 77.78%.

Abstract

Physics learning at SMA Negeri 5 Palu is generally dominated by teachers, causing low student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of physics on work and energy through the application of the Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) learning model for class X MIPA students. 1. This research is a class action research (CAR) in class X MIPA students. 1 SMA Negeri 5 Palu with a total of 33 students. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with material on work and energy. In this study, data were collected through observation sheets from teacher activities in managing the TAPPS learning model and student activities, as well as tests of the results of each cycle's actions. From the results of the study showed that the activities of teachers and students experienced an increase from cycle I to cycle II and were in the very good and very good categories. Based on the analysis of learning outcomes, it was obtained that student data from cycle I to cycle II increased, where the classical absorption value of cycle I was 66.88%, and cycle II was 79.19%, an increase of 12.31%. For classical learning mastery it increased by 21.21% with the classical mastery value of cycle I was 60.61% and cycle II was 81.82%. Based on the indicators of the success of this study, namely if the percentage of classical absorption was 80% and classical completeness was 80%, it was concluded that the application of the TAPPS learning model could improve the learning outcomes of physics on work and energy in class X MIPA students. 1 SMA Negeri 5 Palu.

Abstract

Wheel loader is one of the heavy equipment units used to move materials. One of the parts of concern for the machine unit is the differential which functions to move the rotational power from the propeller shaft to the rear wheel axle. This study aims to find the cause of damage to the differential components of Caterpillar's 914G unit. The method used is library research which begins with taking data from the Service Information System (SIS) as standard data and various modules related to the object of research, field observation by disassembling, visual inspection of objects, and ending with measurements that will be compared with standard data. The results of this study showed that measurements on the backlash component between the bevel gear and pinion shaft were 0.31 mm with standard specifications of 0.18-0.36 mm (in spec), damage to the ring gear due to contact stress fatigue wear, scratches due to abrasives on the side gear, and there was spider gear damage due to contact stress fatigue wear.
