Abstract

This study examines the correlation between reporting by the mass media and the marketing strategies desired by each success team in the 2019 Presidential Election. To find this out, the author uses discourse analysis from Fairclough, because this method is able to show the integration between a) text analysis, b) analysis of the production process, consumption and distribution of texts, and c) sociocultural analysis. There is no significant difference related to the reporting of Jokowi-Ma’ruf and Prabowo-Sandiaga in the Jawa Pos newspaper, both in qualitative and quantitative terms. Although there are similarities between the political image built by actors and the image constructed by the media, it does not mean that it is based on political cooperation. The selected setting and framing agenda is based on consideration of the selling value of information for the reader. This shows that the mass media as well as the opinion of Croteau and Hoynes (2001) in Stromback (2011) are considered to be oriented towards commercial businesses on how to serve the wants and needs of the audience and advertisers. However, the media and actors are mutually beneficial in this regard, because political reporting is a commodity sought by readers, while political actors need the media to deliver their political products to the public.

Abstract

This research focuses on upholding political justice in elections for mentally disabled people, more precisely about how the state and its institutions seek to restore political rights and implement inclusive election policies for person with mental disabilities regarding their participation in elections and their right to vote when election. This research takes two main topics, namely restoration of political rights of mentally disabled people in elections through the regulation of the Election Law, and the making of special rules to accommodate the needs of mental disabled people in elections and the implementation of these policies in the 2019 elections in the city of Surabaya. Data obtained through the analysis of news content and interviews with sources that are then processed and explained qualitatively descriptive. The theory used in this research is electoral justice theory, with a focus on conformity in the field with elements of justice in the electoral justice system. The results obtained are in the first part, the regulation carried out by the government based on complaints from community organizations that focus on defending mental disability rights and electoral issues, meets the criteria for fulfilling rights and distributing justice first where the state gives equal rights for everyone to channel their voice in elections, without discriminating any group by giving them access to the right to be registered as DPT and entitled to participate in the election process. In the second part, it discussed the implementation of the policy in the city of Surabaya, specifically at the Menur Hospital and found that the state tried to accommodate the political rights of the mentally disabled in elections by providing more specific technical rules by adjusting the conditions and needs of the mentally disabled, which according to the elements election justice which requires electoral governance to protect citizens' voting rights. The final conclusion of this study illustrates how the state and its institutions fulfill the elements of the electoral justice system in distributing justice in elections, for people with mental disabilities in Indonesia, especially in the city of Surabaya in the 2019 Elections.

Abstract

his study discusses the prohibition of ex-corruption convicts who registered themselves as legislative candidates. Even this is supported by Article 7 paragraph 1 letter g PKPU. However, the Bawaslu (Election Oversight Body) allowed it and it is also supported by Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia, with the consideration that the regulations stipulated by PKPU contradict Law No. 7 of 2017 which states that ex-convicts are considered to have the same political rights as other citizens, a right guaranteed by the constitution. This study employs political contestation theory that explains the actions or processes that are disputed, for example ideological contestation on social policy, as well as political electoral theory that explains a system for making political decisions in which individuals gain the power to decide through competitive over people’s voices.

Abstract

This study focuses on the motives of community participation in collective action in the form of displacement over the function of forest land in Solokuro Village, Lamongan Regency. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method with the aim to explore the findings. For the theoretical framework, the researcher chose Mancur Olson's collective action theory in exploring the phenomenon of collective movement. This theory explains the motives of individual participation in collection activities, supported by individual’s interests. For communities who have lost their lands, they surely will be involved the collective actions with the hope that they will obtain the land permit back. For society in general, their participation in the movement was aimed to fight for the access of village road. The participation of community leaders and NGOs had purpose to obtain social incentives. Collective action conducted by the people of Solokuro Village succeeded in driving the developer out of the village forest land as a form of collective purposes and it can be seen when the community obtained the forest management permit back, namely Social Forestry Decree.

Abstract

The present study discusses the strategy of winning the Gerindra party candidates in Sidoarjo. In this case the problem that occurs is the struggle for the seat of Si- doarjo regency DPRD. In this thesis the researcher will explain the winning strat- egies, challenges and obstacles during the campaign process of the Gerindra party candidates. Seeing within the framework of the theory of Firmanzah which states that political marketing is divided into 4 programs (4P) namely: Product, Promo- tion, Price, Place. In this research, it will be seen how the winning strategy carried out by the Gerindra party candidates (Bambang Pudjianto) in electoral districts 2 of Sidoarjo regency, where he is an incumbent candidate who has advanced as a people's representative. His strategy is to rely on 3 products of political jargon; # win us, the medical check-up program and aspiration stalls that reap the enthusias- tic response of citizens. With the strategy carried out by Bambang Pudjianto, he succeeded in attracting the sympathy of the people so that he was re-elected as the sidoarjo district parliament.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memfokuskan kajian bagaimana kontestasi elite politik dalam proses perubahan APBD tahun 2017 di DPRD Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kontestasi elite politik dalam proses perubahan APBD tahun 2017, mengetahui apa yang diperjuangkan, dan untuk mengetahui siapa yang diuntungkan dalam kontestasi elite politik dalam perubahan APBD tahun 2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Proses pengumpulan data primer melalui indepth interview dilakukan dengan menempatkan informan pada kapasitas sebagai DPRD Sidoarjo. Teknik pemilihan informan adalah purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kontestasi elite politik dalam proses perubahan APBD tahun 2017 dijelaskan dengan adanya kontestasi pihak elite politik seperti kelompok kepentingan mengembangkan potensinya dan meningkatkan kapasitasnya secara bersama-sama, sehingga memiliki pemahaman yang sama baiknya dalam menyikapi setiap isu perubahan APBD tahun 2017 dan implementasinya. Pihak yang berkontestasi adalah pihak eksekutif dari tim anggaran Kabupaten Sidoarjo dan pihak wakil rayat DPRD Kabupaten Sidoarjo dalam arena perubahan APBD Kabupaten Sidoarjo tahun 2017 tentang anggaran Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Hal yang diperjuangkan dalam kontestasi politik terhadap perubahan APBD tahun 2017 dijelaskan kepentingan antara badan legislatif dan eksekutif terutama dinas pendidikan yang membela kepentingan guru dan kebutuhan pendidikan.
