Abstract

This article found that the performance of the KPU as an election organ in Indonesia is greatly influenced by the complexity of internal and external situations. The KPU is faced with demands to work optimally according to the parameters of the law in implementing decisions to hold general elections. What the KPU does must comply with constitutional standards and election regulations, or not tolerate even the slightest malpractice in the administration. Through the participant method, it was found that the internal aspects of the KPU are very dependent on the capacity of human resources with regard to electoral techniques. While the external aspect is a form of supervision from the outside that functions as a supervisory institution for upholding the principles of accountability, transparency, and integrity in order to prevent potential malpractice in the administration of elections.

Abstract

This research discusses the Ganja Nusantara Circle social movement in its efforts to legalize marijuana as a medical necessity. This movement was created because of the pros and cons associated with cannabis plants in Indonesia. This study uses the perspective of Jurgen Habermas, which centers on the problem of public sphere. In this case, the purpose of the research related to this movement is more focused on the use of public sphere as the main media in the movement of the LGN. In this paper it was found that cannabis plants also have various benefits, one of which is medical. UU No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics is still not fully relevant in relation to the placement of the cannabis group in narcotics group I. The law also still has several weaknesses, including too many rubber articles, multiple interpretations of articles that sometimes still confuse some parties. The focus in some of the problems related to cannabis plants is that Indonesia still does not have scientific research related to cannabis plants, so this still causes turmoil or differences in perspective for some people regarding marijuana. This research method uses qualitative analysis to explain and describe a phenomenon.

Abstract

This study discusses Women in Politics: Recruitment of Female Legislative Members of the East Java Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in the 2019 Legislative Election. Through political parties, women can integrate themselves into the political system. One of the functions of political parties is as a means of political recruitment, in the study of political science this recruitment is an activity of choosing and selecting and then appointing qualified members to occupy political positions according to their abilities. This research is the result of qualitative research which aims to look at the recruitment process carried out by PDIP East Java. The researcher used the theory of the stages of recruitment from Pippa Norris and the data findings found that the recruitment process was carried out by the PDI Perjuangan party openly. Selection of legislative candidates starts from party cadres, in parties there is gender equality in determining legislative candidates. Political recruitment in selecting candidates was found, parties still prioritize potential candidates who have power for the benefit of the party in increasing votes. The selection process is carried out by the party structure. Decision making in selection shows a patronage relationship from the central leadership (DPP) and regional leaders (DPD) so that it can influence the process of recruiting legislative candidates.
