Abstract

Many managers  think  that increases  in sales will automatically increase  company's  profit. With this assumption,  the company will accept order  from customer without making  judgment  on the capacity of company  consumed  by that order. The background  of this thinking is catted volume-related. But,  in many  cases, cost depends  on the activity consumed  to accomplish an order. So, cost allocated based on unit of output sometimes  will cause overcosted or undercosted. On of the solution  to over or undercosted  is cost allocation based on activity consumed by the product or the order. This cost allocation  is called activity-based  costing. Activity-based  costing  systems help will provide complete and accurate  information  that are needed by the management to make better decision based  on cost of an order. Keywords:  overcosted,  undercosted,  activity-based costing, activity based management

Abstract

Strategic management is management decisions that determine the fate of a company. Every company aiming to excel for a long time must always utilize strategic management continuously. According to Wheelen and Hunger, strategic management has more primitive forms. The application of strategic management requires allocation of company's resources. Only big companies like Astra International Tbk. and HM Sampoema Tbk. are able to dedicate sufficient human and financial resources for the application of strategic management, while small companies do not have such resources and only manage to use a more primitive form of strategic management, such as budget planning. According to Wheelen & Hunger, strategic management requires all levels in the organization to think strategically. This can only be done when the company has adopted information system to communicate strategic information from the top to the bottom level. Because almost all small companies do not have such information system, does this mean that they must content with budget planning and forget about strategic management? Is it true that small entrepreneurs starting from zero only use strategic management after their small companies become big? If it is true, then the contribution of strategic management in leading small companies to grow and become big companies is immaterial. This paper aims to present the contribution of strategic management in turning small companies into big companies.

Abstract

Geothermal is an alternative form if energy that we can depend on for today and the future, as well as a solution to solve the scarcity of electricity in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the geothermal industry in our country is confronted with a lot obstacles, technically and non-technically as well, as a result this industry has a difficulty to grow. Geothermal is one of the primary energy that can be renewed (renewable resources) and environmental friendly(Green Energy) and it can also be used as a source of electric energy. Geothermal is said to be environmental friendly because it is clean (doesn’t contain CO2) and other element that are found in geothermal do not produce any consequences to environment. According to Law No.27 in 2003 about geothermal (which is called The Law of Geothermal), the definition of geothermal is: “A source of heat energy that is contained inside hot water, water vapor and rocks, as well as of the minerals and other gases that cannot be separated from geothermal genetically and a mining process is requires for its utilization
