Abstract

This research analyzes about altruism found in the Hobbit film “The Batlle of Five Armies”.The Hobbit “The Battle of Five Armies”film is the last film from the Hobbit trilogy which is firstlypublished in 2012, then 2013 for next series and 2014 the last published. The Hobbit is one of filmadapted from the novel John Ronald Reul Tolkien. The Batlle of Five Armies tells about few ofhuman group trying to stay alive from Orcs the enemies of life with help each other. The aims ofthis research is explain type of altruism as found in in the Hobbit film “ The Battle of Five Armies”.This research uses descriptive method, because the datum of this research written on narrative,paragraphs, and descriptive. The writer finds out altruism consist of nepotisti, reiprocal and group.Furthermore, this research uses sociological approach. Sociological approaches help the writer toanalyze in social side.Based on the result, the writer concludes that altruism can happen in eachhuman relationship. There are relationships in family, friends, and groups. Finally, the writer knowsthat altruism can happened both by act and oral speech.

Abstract

This thesis analyzes about proverbs meaning found in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film.There are some aims of the research, namely (1) to describe the proverbs meaning that belong to traditionaland cognitive metaphor (2) to describe the functions of proverbs meaning and (3) to explain the religion andculture values of proverbs used in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film. This research was conducted byusing descriptive qualitative method through applying several stages. The first one was by collecting datathrough three ways: (1) document technique, (2) observation technique and (3) note technique. The secondone analyzing data use identity method (metode padan). The third, the writer uses metaphor approaches toget the meaning of proverb that found in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film. The using of metaphor inthis research has two approaches those are traditional and cognitive metaphor. Meanwhile, the functionsand the values that contained in proverbs are explained in this research as well. From the result of theresearch, this research shows that proverb as the heritage of the culture and gives contribution significantlyto development of language as part of Minangkabau culture community.Key word: Proverbs, Minangkabau, Metaphorical Analysis

Abstract

This thesis studies about factor and effect of materialism found in Angel gracia’s FromPrada to Nada Film. Factor and effect of materialsm caused by main character in From Prada toNada film. The main character is Mary. The goals of this thesis are to explain the factor and effectof Materialism. The reseacher uses social perspective. In this thesis, the reseacher uses qualitativemethod, because this method helps the reseacher to present the data in the form of sentence, verbaland phrase. The reseacher describes and analyzes about sentences and dialogues of character inFrom Prada to Nada film. Then, the reseacher uses Sociological Approach to be analyzed. By usingthe qualitative method, the reseacher also makes the reader understand this thesis easily. There aretwo kinds of results in this thesis, they are factor and effect of materialism. The factor ofmaterialism influence Mary’s character in From Prada to Nada Film. There are the death of theirfather and the crisis economic caused by amount debt or bankrupt. In other hand, the reseacher getsthe positive effect. There is being well motivated and solidarity. Then the reseacher gets negativeeffect in this film that consist of disappointment and depression.Key Word: Materialism, From Prada to Nada, Sociological Approach.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the verbal construction of Batak Toba Dialect in Bungo Regency Province of Jambi. In collecting the data, the researcher used conversational and listening method. Meanwhile, the main technique in collecting the data is elicitation technique, which is continued by several techniques, i.e. recording technique and taking note. The main technique in observation method is Participant Observation Method (SLC) which is continued by advanced note taking technique. In analyzing the data, the research is done by using substitutional method, translational method, and referential method. The results of the analysis are provided by formal and informal methods.            The result of the research shows that Batak Toba Dialect in Bungo Regency Province of Jambi almost same as Batak Toba Languange in Province of Sumatera Utara which can be causative (1) the intransitive verbs by adding the suffix -hon, (2) the intransitive verbs by adding the suffix -i if the predicate is an adjective, and (3) the transitive verbs, intransitive verbs, and precategorial by adding the prefix pa-. BTL can also aplicativise some verbs by adding the suffix -hon and the suffix -i. The resultative construction of BTL marked by prefix -di‘di’ and prefix -tar ‘ter’ Keywords: Batak Toba Dialect, Causative.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) to explain the types of imperative sentence in Jangkat Isolect especiallyDanau Pauh village. (2) to describe the function of imperative sentence in Jangkat Isolect community; and (3) toexplain the structure of sentences (syntax) of imperative sentences that found in Jangkat Isolect. This research usesdescriptive qualitative method. A source of data in this research is imperative sentences in Jangkat Isolect community.This research is divided in three procedures; they are collection the data, analyzing the data, and presenting the data.In collecting the data, data are gathered by observation method and interview method. Meanwhile, the main techniquein collecting the data is eliciting technique, which is continued by several techniques, i.e. recording technique and notetechnique. The main technique in observation method is participant observational method which is continued byadvanced note technique. In analyzing the data, the research is done by using distributional method, translationalmethod, and referential method. The results of the analysis are provided by formal and informal methods.Keywords: Imperative, Sentence, Syntax, Isolect, Jangkat, Danau Pauh.
