This research aims to describe code-switching, as seen in trading activity in Kota Solok. The objectives of this writing are to identify the form of codes which are commonly used by bilingual and diglossic inhabitants in trading activity in Solok market, to classify the code-switching which happens when the sellers and the buyers are talking to each other and to find out the factors which caused code-switching and diglossia. This research applied descriptive qualitative research in which the data came from a conversation in trading activities in Kota Solok. The data were also from the informants' statements about the things, which were related to the coding problem itself. The researcher collected the observational method supported by note-taking and recording techniques. The result found that there were several forms of code-switching in trading activity in the Kota Solok market: the switching among language codes among dialect codes and various codes. The diglossic situation also existed in society. The diglossic situation could emerge when society had two languages, while each showed different functions (high and low) in a different community. It could be seen in the Merantau tradition by Minang People.

This thesis is analyzes about SPEAKING in film La La Land. the purpose of this research is to explain SPEAKING factors that happen in the film. This research uses descriptive qualitative method because the data are in the forms of utterances.This research is done by some steps, they are data collecting, data analyzing and data presentation. In technique of collecting the data, the writer uses the non participant observational method. The implementation of this method is realized through downloading and note technique. In technique of analyzing the data, the writer uses identity method and referential identity method. The data are presented through informal method.The result of the research by using ethnography of communication as an approach in La La Land film shows some which are includes complaining, ordering, confiding, getting fired, agreement, casting audition, disappointment, and argument. Each of these situation, in turn were affected by SPEAKING factors as Hymes suggested which are the setting, the participants, their ends, the instrument, the norms and the genre of the communication. The writer takes 11 data from the film. the writer concludes that La La Land film shows some situation which are includes complaining and ordering that are common to be happen in a shop as seen in the film. This research analyzes about response and impact psychology’s audience about the main characters in Zootopia film, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde although they conflict use the psychological approach. The sources of data are the audience responses of “Zootopia” film with subtitle. The researcher uses Reader Response Criticism from Charless E. Bressler (1998) to find out the audience response of the main character. From the analysis it can be concluded according to Bressler (1998), every audiences will give a different perspective and reaction toward what they read, and it can be influenced by the audience’s experience. From those interpretation of all audiences, it can be explained that mostly of them have same interpretation of Nick and Judy’s conflict. It can be seen from how the audience reacted toward them actions and conflict differently. From the responses of Zootopia, the researcher get the psychology impacts to the audiences. The psychology impacts of Zootopia film are positive and negative impact. The positive of psychology impacts are Happiness, Inspiration, and Love. While, the negative of Psychology impact are Fear and Guilt. Keywords: Reader Response Criticism, Psychology Approach, Zootopia film

This studies about Cooperative Principle found in Film Inside Out. The purposes of this research are to find out and explain the types of maxim those occur in film Inside Out and to explain the functions of the maxims those are found in film Inside Out. This analysis uses qualitative research as method and it has three procedures; they are collecting the data, analyzing the data and data presentation. In collecting the data, the writer uses non-participant observational method. In technique of collecting the data, the writer uses download and note taking technique. The analyzing of the data, the writer uses Sudaryanto’s theory that is referential method. The last procedure is data presentation is presented by using informal and formal method. The result of this analysis are From fifteen datum that the writer analyzed, maxim of quality is the most frequently found in line to the conversation. In addition, the datum that contain of maxim in Inside Out film have their own functions. It can be expressive, declarative, commissive, directive and representative. Furthermore, it depends on the context of the conversations. Key Words: Cooperative Principle, Pragmatics, Inside Out Film

ANALYSIS OF PHONEME BETWEEN RANTAU PANDAN DIALECT AND RANTAU DUKU DIALECT vera magria

This research aims to identify the similarities and differences between phoneme of Rantau Pandan and Rantau Duku dialect. The data collection was done by using observation technique. Furthermore, the writer applied basic technique, continuing technique, record technique and writing technique. In gaining the data, the writer uses 200 words taken from Swadesh basic vocabularies, part of bodies, verb,noun and word orderThe result of this study indicates that there are similarities and differences of phoneme between Rantau Pandan dialect and Rantau Duku dialect. Out of 200 words, 120 are pronounced similarly in both dialects. The similarities may occur because both dialects have one root, i.e. Rantau Pandan Language.Meanwhile, there are 80 words which are uttered differently in both dialects. The differences are happened in phonemic change and phonemic deletion. The phonemic changes include the alteration of vowel and consonant sounds. In Meanwhile, the phonemic deletion includes the omission of vowel, consonant, and syllable.Key Words: Phonemes, Rantau Pandan, Rantau Duku, Dialect

This thesis analyzes about proverbs meaning found in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film.There are some aims of the research, namely (1) to describe the proverbs meaning that belong to traditionaland cognitive metaphor (2) to describe the functions of proverbs meaning and (3) to explain the religion andculture values of proverbs used in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film. This research was conducted byusing descriptive qualitative method through applying several stages. The first one was by collecting datathrough three ways: (1) document technique, (2) observation technique and (3) note technique. The secondone analyzing data use identity method (metode padan). The third, the writer uses metaphor approaches toget the meaning of proverb that found in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck film. The using of metaphor inthis research has two approaches those are traditional and cognitive metaphor. Meanwhile, the functionsand the values that contained in proverbs are explained in this research as well. From the result of theresearch, this research shows that proverb as the heritage of the culture and gives contribution significantlyto development of language as part of Minangkabau culture community.Key word: Proverbs, Minangkabau, Metaphorical Analysis

This thesis analyzes about taboo and swear words in Deadpool movie using sociolinguistic approach. The purposes of this research are to analyze and explain types of taboo and swear words, functions of taboo and swear word, and reasons for using taboo and swear word. In analyzing the research, the writer uses sociolinguistic and some supporting theories. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data is formed in wordsand pictures. The data is analyzed through four procedures: identifying, classifying, analyzing and making conclusion. The results of this research are stated as follows. Firstly, four types of taboo words occur in the characters’ utterances in Deadpool movie; epithet, profanity, vulgarity, and obscenity. While for swear word, the type that dominant in the movie is private parts of body. In the function of taboo word, the writer only finds three from four functions. Then, for the reason of using taboo and swear word, the writer finds psychology and social class. The writer finds the correlation between taboo words and swear words. This thesis entitled The Analysis of Politeness Strategy between Moana and Maui in the Moana Cartoon Movie. The aims of this research are to find out and explain the types of politeness strategies used by Moana and Maui in Moana cartoon movie. The researcher used descriptive-qualitative method. The data are in form of the utterances between Moana and Maui.In collecting the data the researcher use non participant technique and the researcher did download technique, watching and note taking to collect the data. In technique of analyzing the data the researcher uses referential method to explain the data in which the tool device refers to the referent of the language. The data are presented through formal and informal method.The result of the research, there are 4 strategies that are used by these 2 characters; bald-on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record.Keywords :Politeness Strategy, FTA, Moana and Maui.

Penelitian ini pada prinsipnya bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan meninventarisir bentuk-bentuk idiom yang sering digunakan oleh masyarakat penutur dialek Melayu Bungo Area dan menjelaskan makna dari penggunaan idiom tersebut. Ada beberapa tahapan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan penyajian hasil analisis data. Dalam pengumpulan data, penulis menggunakan metode simak libat cakap dengan teknik catat sebagai sebuah teknik untuk transkripsi ulang data yang diperoleh. Metode dan teknik yang dilakukan dalam analisis data adalah teknik referensial, yaitu suatu teknik analisis yang menggunakan analisis referensial dalam melihat makna idiom yang digunakan. Selanjutnya, dalam penyajian hasil analisis data, penulis menggunakan metode informal sebagai sebuah metode yang tidak menggunakan simbol. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menemukan beberapa data lingual idiom yang sering digunakan oleh masyarakat penutur Melayu Bungo Jambi, khususnya yang berada di bungo area. Beberapa di antara idiom yang digunakan tersebut tidak menunjukkan bentuk idiom yang tidak identik, yaitu apabila digabungkan di antara dua leksem maka akan menimbulkan makna tunggal, seperti ‘besak celano’, ‘berat ati’, ceredik buruk’dan ‘ambik muko’. Selain itu, beberapa idiom lainnya juga menunjukkkan klasifikasi atau kategori kata yang tidak sama.Kata Kunci. Dialek Melayu Bungo, Idiom, Leksem

Verb Formations in Muara Bungo Language: Morphological Review on Rantau Pandan Dialect Vera Magria; Asridayani Asridayani

A verb is a language element used by the community in communication. There are various verbs formation applied in Muara Bungo especially Rantau Pandan dialect, like adding affixes to the verb and the processes occurred to the verb itself. In this study, the authors focused on verbs formation derived from nouns and adjectives. The process of affixation includes derivative and inflective affixes. For the data collection, the author applied listening and interview methods. The process of verb formation occurred on nouns and adjectives in speech or lingual data obtained were then analyzed and determined by applying translational analysis method. The verb formation process would be clearer when classes of the words found had been classified. The researcher found the verbs formation was from the process that occurred at the time of the formation of the verb. The affixation process in this study includes derivative and inflective affixes. The affixes are functioned for forming nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and numbers. The prefix ber- has form variations like ba- and be-. Prefix ma- has form variations like mang- and meny-. Prefix n- has form variations such as n- and ng- forms. The prefix te- has form variations such as ta-, tany-.
