Abstract

English speaking anxiety is a common phenomenon among students and professionals. This study utilizes the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, drawing from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus (2013–2023). The results indicate that this anxiety is influenced by psychological factors (lack of self-confidence, fear of judgment), environmental factors (social pressure, lack of support), educational factors (teaching methods, lack of practice), linguistic factors (vocabulary limitations, pronunciation), and cultural factors (differences in social norms). These findings emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in addressing English speaking anxiety.

Abstract

This study explores critical literacy strategies, reflective abilities, and intercultural competence in language teaching to develop critical, reflective, and adaptive students. Research objectives include identifying key barriers, developing innovative strategies, and practical solutions for integrating critical literacy in education. The research uses a qualitative approach based on literature review, best practice analysis, and theoretical case studies. Data were analyzed through a descriptive-critical approach and thematic synthesis to produce a holistic framework. The research results show that the main obstacles include limited understanding of the socio-cultural context, difficulty analyzing multimodal texts, and embedded cultural stereotypes. Strategies such as authentic text discussions on socio-cultural themes, multimodal discourse analysis, and cross-cultural simulations have proven effective in improving students' critical literacy skills, reflective abilities, and intercultural sensitivity. This approach allows students to understand global issues in depth, develop analytical skills, and adapt to different cultural norms. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of critical literacy, multidimensional reflection, and intercultural competence in one holistic learning framework. This approach is relevant to facing the challenges of globalization and preparing students to become individuals who are responsive to an ever-evolving world. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of inclusive education that is relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

English language training is an effort to improve staff knowledge and strategic management, thereby increasing Prama Sanur Beach Hotel's revenue. Survey results from previous trainings indicate that staff's ability to actively communicate using English functions, such as offering, refusing, handling complaints, apologizing, and explaining, still lacks standard structures and appropriate lexical choices. The training will be implemented by prioritizing several language functions related to offering, handling complaints, refusing, apologizing, and describing. The increased human resource capabilities are expected to increase the number of tourist visits, which will also impact hotel revenue. The post-test results from the training indicate that Prama staff, particularly front office staff, food and beverage service, and marketing staff, are already able to use English functions well.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) was conducted to address three main challenges faced by Lembongan Mantra Huts: (1) how to improve visibility and attractiveness through social media, (2) identifying the most effective digital platforms for promotion, and (3) designing suitable content strategies to attract both domestic and international tourists. The method employed was a participatory mentoring approach through training in copywriting, designing a content calendar, and optimizing the use of digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Google Business Profile. The results indicate that consistent use of visual content and guest experience narratives significantly increased audience engagement. Instagram was found to be the most effective platform to reach international tourists, Facebook was more relevant to the domestic market, and Google Business Profile enhanced discoverability in online searches. Content strategies focusing on storytelling, practical information, and value-added promotions played a crucial role in strengthening the property’s branding. The conclusion highlights that well-directed social media management, tailored to audience needs, successfully improved the digital image and competitiveness of Lembongan Mantra Huts, reinforcing its position as an attractive tourism destination in Nusa Lembongan.

Abstract

Tenun Cagcag is one of Bali's cultural heritage items that holds high aesthetic, historical, and spiritual value. The production of this weaving is carried out traditionally using handlooms (not machines) and is passed down through generations, primarily by Balinese women. The advent of modernization and shifting interests among the younger generation threaten the continuity of weaving skills. One active group in preserving this craft is Kelompok Tenun Merak Mas in Pejeng Kangin Village, Gianyar. This group faces several challenges, such as limited product innovation, conventional marketing methods, and unorganized financial management. On the other hand, there is a market opportunity arising from global trends favoring ethnic products based on local culture. To address these challenges and capitalize on these opportunities, community service activities (PKM) are conducted through an empowerment approach, which includes training in product diversification, creating a visual catalog, enhancing digital literacy, and training in cash flow recording and bilingual marketing promotions. This program supports the preservation of local culture and encourages the strengthening of community economies through innovation and culture-based promotional strategies. The results of this program include improvements in production with a 40% increase in sales, advancements in marketing through the use of social media as a promotional tool featuring product catalogs, and enhancements in business management with established cash flow from sales. The application of technology and innovation, both hard and soft, has proven relevant and can be directly implemented by the partners. Thus, cultural heritage like Tenun Cagcag not only remains preserved but also adapts and competes in the dynamics of the modern market.
