Abstract

This article discusses speech acts in the animated film Salahuddin al-Ayyubi. This research method is descriptive qualitative. By using the method of listening and recording the data in the form of words and sentences in this film were collected and analyzed. The formal object as a scalpel in this research is pragmatics, namely the theory of illocutionary speech acts. The results showed that in the film Salahudduin al-Ayyubi episode 1 there were 37 illocutionary speech acts. Judging from the type, of the 37 illocutionary speech acts, there are 4 types of illocutionary acts consisting of 22 directive illocutionary speech acts, 6 assertive illocutions, 7 commissive illocutions and 8 expressive illocutions. Judging from the literal and direct illocutionary speech acts, of the 37 illocutionary speech acts there are 15 literal and direct speech acts, 1 indirect and literal speech act, 9 literal and indirect speech acts, and 12 non-literal and indirect speech acts.

Abstract

This research is aim to tell the meaning of one of a poetry written by a famous poet from Syria under the title Khamsu Ras??ila Il? Umm?. The poem is telling about the deepest feeling of a longing to the lovely homeland. A man who did a long journey to foreign countries due to several conditions needs to recall the memory about his homeland. His homeland he called ‘umm?’ (mother) never leave his heart even he is out of his homeland as his own mother. The poetry has analyzed with semiotic theory that used to know the meaning of meaning of a poetry. There are three stages to analyze this poetry in this research, the first is to search semantic indirection that used by the poet. Semantic indirection is caused by three things, they are displacing of meaning, distorting of meaning, and creating of meaning. After finding the semantic indirection, then doing a semiotic reading that consisting of heuristic reading that as its first level reading and hermeneutic reading as an interpretation by considering the semantic indirection. The last stage is to determine the matrix or keyword of this poetry. The result of this research reflects an expression of a man who had a deep feeling of longing to his homeland when he did live abroad.

Abstract

In teaching and learning languages, it is common to use code-switching. Code-switching help speaker and hearer share the ability to speak more than one language. This research was focused on the code-switching that was done by the lecturer, the most common type that appeared in the classroom interaction and the function of the code-switching found in the analysis. Descriptive qualitative research was applied in this research which the data got from the interaction of the lecturer and students in the classroom in teaching and learning English for Arabic students. Based on the analysis, in the classroom interaction, the three types of code-switching was found; tag-switching, inter-sentential switching and intra-sentential (Romaine, 1995). The most common type found in the interaction was intra-sentential switching. The used of code-switching in the classroom interaction was to improve language skills, give clarification, emphasis the topic, and make good relation with interlocutor that was the Arabic students. Both teachers and students in this situation hold positive attitudes in doing code switching.

Abstract

This study aims to see the world view of the two poets towards the Arab League on the conflict between Palestine and Israel, and how the role of the Arab League in the conflict between Palestine and Israel. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach, with the type of library research. There are two types of data sources in this study, namely primary and secondary sources. The primary data sources were taken from the poem entitled "Ana Yusuf Ya Abi" by Mahmud Darwish quoted from Diwan"Al-A'mal Al-Ulaa 3", and "Al-Hub Wa Al-Bitrul" by Nizar Qabbani taken from Diwan Nizar Qabbani. The results of this study are the world view of the authors of these two poems as a form of expression of their disappointment, anxiety and restlessness towards the conflicts that occur in the Middle East in general, Palestine and Israel in particular. They see what is happening with Palestine as if they are not getting any meaningful help from the Arab League and other countries.

Abstract

Foreign language learners in achieving language mastery often commit errors. In both spoken and written languages. They consisted of a mismatch between the language system produced and the target language system. The method used in this study is an analistic descriptive method. To illustrate fault forms, it is necessary to analyze errors by laying out the sources for error and the ideal steps to correct them. As for the results of the analysis there are oral errors and also the writing of student literature and language studies programs both from In the linguistic classification, the researcher finds grammatical and morphological errors, and in the surface classification the researcher finds errors in second-language acquisition in omission, increment, mode distortion, and forward and delay.
