Abstract

Chicken meat has high protein and easily to be found in traditional markets. Chicken meat can be contamination by bacteria, especially by Escherichia coli. This research was to identify Escherichia coli contamination and contamination factors on chicken meat in East Denpasar Ketapian market. This research used a descriptive method with probability sampling technique, namely simple random sampling. Total samples used were 12 samples of chicken meat. The results show 6 samples (50 %) were positively contaminated by Escherichia coli. Contamination factors cause by environmental factors (garbage with heaped conditions, trash in open conditions, water not flow), equipment hygiene (not clean knives), and personal hygiene factors (sellers not clean their hands or use gloves and wear aprons in dirty conditions). Conclusion, 50 % of chicken meat samples from East Denpasar Ketapian market were contaminated by Escherichia coli and contamination factors that can affect are environmental factor, equipment hygiene and personal hygiene.

Abstract

Food handler is a person who directly manages food and can be an intermediary for the entry of a disease into food. From the training done in the elementary school canteen in South Kuta Subdistrict, traders still found lacking in hygiene, such as not using aprons, hair coverings, and work clothes. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the level of knowledge of food sanitation hygiene with the behavior of elementary school canteen managers in the District of South Kuta, Badung with a cross sectional approach and data analysis with Spearman correlation statistical analysis techniques. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of food hygiene sanitation canteen manager with behavior (r of  0.574 and p = 0.000). Then it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the behavior of elementary school canteen managers in South Kuta Subdistrict with moderate relationship strength. It is recommended for South Kuta Healt Center elementary schools to carry out routine supervision at least once a month for hygiene food management and canteen  sanitation. Further research is needed that influences behaviors such as attitudes, sanitation facilities, equipment, locations and buildings.

Abstract

PP Number 81 of 2012 concerning Management of Household Waste and Waste Similar to Household Waste mandates a fundamental paradigm shift in waste management, namely from the collect - transport - throw away paradigm to Reuse, Reduce, Recycle (3R). The purpose was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and occupation of the head of the family with participation in the waste bank program. This research is a type of descriptive research with a quantitative approach using a cross sectional with the sample of 95 head of the family as with the instrument used is a questionnaire. The analysis was carried out by univariate and bivariate with chi square. Based on hypothesis testing, it is known that the level of knowledge and the work of the head of the family with the level of participation in the waste bank program gets a P-value = 0.010 0.05, P-Value = 0.000 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and work of the head of the family with the level of participation in the waste bank program in Sebatu Village. The advice that can be given is expected that all Heads of Families can participate in this waste bank program, provide socialization about the waste bank program, hold programs in waste banks and the government provides allocation of funds for waste banks to run in accordance with their functions.

Abstract

Basic sanitation is the minimum sanitation to provide healthy environment that meets health requirements and focuses on monitoring various environmental factors affect the degree of human health. One of them is Healthy Latrine. Defecation (defecating) in open areas such as rivers or gardens has become a habit that is often practiced by the community. The habit of open defecation, which results in contamination of drinking water and food sources. The research objective  determine whether there was a relationship between knowledge and attitudes the community and the behavior of open defecation in Sumberwaru Village, Banyuputih District, Situbondo Regency. The defecation behavior in Sumberwaru Village, Banyuputih District can be said to be high, namely as many as 1244 families out of 3232 families, the sample of the study was 105 families. This type of research usesmethod cross sectional. Data analysis used the Chi-square test. Results showed that the value of ρ = 0.000, which means that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude and defecation behavior

Abstract

Liquid waste as the results of pig farm business should meet the requirements of physical parameters before being discharged into the bodies of water, one of which is the Total Suspended Solid (TSS) parameter. The results of the TSS levels examination from the liquid waste of the pig farm business exceeded the predetermined limit, which is an average of 1,112 mg/L. One of the liquid waste treatment methods to reduce TSS levels is sedimentation and coagulant methods. This research was conducted by giving PAC as much as 0.5 g/L in each treatment with time variations for 20 minutes, 40 minutes and 60 minutes. This research was conducted with three replications and each replication using a duplo system for two repetitions. This type of research is a true experiment with a Pre test – Post test Control Group Design. The results were decreased by 20 minutes by 142 mg/L, 40 minutes by 98 mg/L and 60 minutes by 90 mg/L.  Based on the results of the One Way test ANOVA obtained a Sig. p 0,000 (α 0,05) which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is a difference in TSS levels between control, 20 minutes, 40 minutes and 60 minutes which means significance. The conclusion of this study shows that treatment with a sedimentation time of 60 minutes is the most effective time to reduce TSS levels of pig farm’s liquid waste.

Abstract

AbstractDengue Hemorrhagic Fever is a disease caused by dengue virus infection which is still a public health problem. This disease is found in almost all parts of the world, especially in tropical and subtropical countries, both as an endemic and epidemic disease. In 2017, the highest number of dengue cases in Bali was in Denpasar, with 929 cases with 4 deaths. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the knowledge of attitudes and behavior of the community in implementing 4M Plus with the incidence of dengue fever in the village of Ubung Kaja. This type of research is descriptive with the case control method. The sampling technique used total sampling. The number of samples is 78 respondents with 39 case samples and 39 control samples. The data analysis technique used the chi-square test with a significance level (p = 0.05) and odd ratios were used to determine the risk. The variables proven to be related to the implementation of 4M Plus and the incidence of dengue fever in the village of Ubung Kaja were knowledge p = 0.000 (OR =7,933 ), attitude p = 0.001 (OR =8,313 ) and behavior p = 0.000 (OR =8,800 ). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of the community in implementing 4M Plus with the incidence of dengue fever in the village of Ubung Kaja. Suggestions that can be conveyed are the community to optimize clean and healthy living habits, especially in terms of eradicating mosquito nests with 4M Plus to avoid dengue disease. Keywords: knowledge, attitudes, behavior, 4M Plus, DHF
