Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) often faces problem with presence of pest organism causing symptoms of disease progression. One of the most symptomatic part is the leaf. This research was conducted to find out the types of fungi isolated from the leaves of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) symptomatic of disease in Rasau Jaya village, West Kalimantan. Isolation of fungi from symptomatic cucumber leaves was done by direct planting on the media of PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar). The result of this research indicate that three genera of fungi: members of the genera Aspergillus, Colletotrichum and Rhizomucor.

Abstract

Basal stem rot is one of the diseases in siamese citrus (Citrus nobilis var. microcarpa) wich is caused by fungi Phytophthora sp. Im5. Phytophthora sp. Im5 growth can be inhibited by utilizing natural antifungi compounds deried from plant extracts. One of the plants that has potential to be antifungi is siamese citrus peel. This research aimed to find out the effect of ethanol extract in siamese citrus peel on inhibiting the growth of fungi Phytophthora sp. Im5. This research was conducted for 2 months from March to April 2017 in Microbiology Lab of Mathematics an Natural Science Faculty Tanjungpura University and in Plantation Processing Laboratory of State Polytechnic Pontianak. The research used completely randomized design with 4 treatments, namely control, siamese citrus extract 0,55 g/ml, 0,65 g/ml and 0,75 g/ml. The results show that the inhibition of the growth of fungi Phytophthora sp. Im5 with concentration of ethanol extract of 0,55 g/ml, 0,65 g/ml and 0,75 g/ml was not significantly different between treatments, but significantly different from control. A concentration of 0,55 g/ml is the best concentration to inhibit the growth of fungi Phytophthtora sp. Im5 with a percentage of inhibitory power of 78,41% and the activity level was very strong.

Abstract

The selection of variety of local rice from West Kalimantan is essential in order to increase the production of reice seed. Rice seed that is resistant to saline concentration is especially needed to increase production. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of salinity on the seed germination of local rice varieties from West Kalimantan. This research used rolled paper test technique with standing position, and the research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with NaCl treatment at 0 ppm (control), 2000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 ppm with 5 repetitions. The rice varieties that were used were Padi Putri, Padi Renggak, Padi Bungkok, Padi Gadis, Padi Waes, Padi Banjar, Padi Beras merah, Padi Kunyit and Padi Ketan. The research findings showed the presence of salinity-level effect on the growth of local rice seed germination. The nine varieties of local rice from West Kalimantan could survive in condition with NaCl solution concentration at the range of 2000 – 8000 ppm.

Abstract

Coliform bacteria can contaminate food and lead to intoxication causing symptoms of human digestive tract disorders. Food which is vulnerable to the contamination coliform bacteria is traditional food which is processed in a simple. One of Pontianak traditional food is sotong pangkong. The purpose of this research is to study the contamination of coliform bacteria on sotong pangkong sold on Jalan Merdeka, Pontianak. The research was conducted for three months from September to November 2016 it the Microbiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak. This research was observative and descriptive in nature, the data were tabulated by presenting table. The result showed that the sample of sotong pangkong was contaminated by coliform bacteria in which the MPN values was above the maximum limit, except for sample which had been roasted from seller IV (<3 MPN/gram). The highest contamination sample before and after roasted were gathered from seller I and seller III where the value was >1100 MPN/gram. Meanwhile the lowest contamination on the sample before-roasted sample was recorded from seller II by 11 MPN/gram. The bacteria contamination was above the limit of bacterial contamination based on BPOM No. HK.00.06.1.52.4011 Year 2009 by <3/gram.

Abstract

Soil Organic carbon is an organic matter contained in or on the soil surface which derives from natural carbon compounds. Soil becomes an important representation of organic carbon stock in long-term period of land ecosystem, because soil accumulates carbon larger than those in plant biomass and atmosphere. This research aims to study the correlation between soil density, soil organic carbon, and soil organic carbon stock in tembawang agroforestry area Nanga Pemubuh Sekadau Hulu West Kalimantan. The results show that soil density has a negative correlation and a real effect on soil organic carbon, and it has positive correlation and a real effect on soil organic carbon stock.
