Abstract

Bukti secara palinologi pada waktu lampau telah mencirikan keanekaragaman pada tumbuhan. Studi ini terdiri dari dua tahapan, yaitu pengambilan sampel lapangan dan observasi di laboratorium. Total 13 sampel dari Formasi Cimandiri Sukabumi sudah teridentifikasi memiliki kandungan fosil. Lima puluh tiga polynomorph sudah terindentifikasi, terdiri dari satu tipe taxon marine polynomorph dan 52 taxa polynomorph. Dari jumlah 52 tersebut, 38 buah berjenis arboreal pollen, 5 buah adalah non-arboreal pollen dan 11 adalah Pteridophyes. Umur geologi dari Formasi Cimandiri adalah Pertengahan Miocene terindikasi adanya Florshuetzia trilobata, F. Levipoli, dan F. Meridionalis. Berdasarkan analisis palynomorph, dapat disimpulkan tingginya keanekaragaman tumbuhan pada Pertengahan Miocene yang ada di Formasi Cimandiri. Komposisi palynomorph pada masing-masing endapan menunjukan kemiripan yang tinggi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini bertujuan adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh OA yang diberikan selama umur kebuntingan 7-14 hari terhadap perkembangan skeleton fetus mencit. 24 ekor mencit bunting dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan secara acak. Pada kelompok eksperimen, masing-masing perlakuan 0.5; 1.0 dan 1.5  mg OA ( Sigma Chemicals Ltd ) dilarutkan dalam 1 ml 0,1 M natrium bikarbonat, diberikan secara oral terhadap induk mencit bunting selama 7 hari mulai umur kebuntingan 7-14 hari. Pada kelompok kontrol, 1 ml 0,1 M sodium bikarbonat diberikan pada waktu yang sama. Pada umur  kebuntingan 18 hari mencit dibedah untuk diambil fetusnya. Fetus mencit yang sudah dibersihkan kemudian dipreparasi dengan metode pewarnaan Alcian Blue – Alizarin Red S. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dilihat bahwa OA menyebabkan penurunan pertumbuhan skeleton fetus dengan indikasi penurunan jumlah ruas-ruas skeleton tulang dada, tulang telapak tangan, tulang telapak kaki dan tulang ekor.   Kata Kunci : Fetus, Ochratoksin A, Skeleton

Abstract

Bukti Palinologi berupa fosil polen dan spora tumbuhan dapat digunakan untuk merekonstruksi perubahan muka laut Kala Eosen. Limabelas (15) sampel batuan yang dianalisis menggunakan metode standar palinologi. Pengamatan mikroskopis dilakukan untuk identitifikasi tipe fosil polen dan spora (palinomorfnya) sehingga dapat diketahui tingkat taksa tumbuhan penghasilnya. Hasil pengamatan dapat diidentifikasi sejumlah 2684 palinomorf yang masuk dalam 27 tipe polen dan spora dan dikategorikan kedalam: 10 taksa tumbuhan berhabitus pohon mendominasi sebesar 37,04%, sedangkan yang berhabitus non pohon sebesar 8 taksa (29,63%) dan 9 taksa (33,33%) dari kelompok Pteridophyta. Pada Kala Eosen terjadi 6 (enam) kali perubahan muka laut (transgresi-regresi).   Kata kunci : Palinomorf, Eosen, perubahan muka laut, arboreal pollen, non arboreal pollen

Abstract

Spleen Histology and Hematology of Mice Infected by Escherichia coli after Oral Administration of Humic Acid from Borneo PeatABSTRACTHumic acid compounds have an immunostimulatory effect. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of humic acid on the spleen of mice infected with Escherichia coli. The study used a completely randomized design with six treatments and five replicates. The treatments were normal control, negative control, positive control of isoprinosine, humic acid dose of 62.5; 125; and 250 mg/kg body weight (BW). The results showed that E. coli infection caused diarrhea symptoms and significant weight loss. There were significant differences (P<0.05) on hematocrit value and a total leukocyte count of humic acid, in which isoprinosine treatment was higher than those of negative control and normal control. There was no significant difference in the spleen weight of the mice subjected to the different treatments, but through histologic observations a significant difference (P<0.05) was found in the histologic size of the spleen. Humic acid treatment of 250 and 125 mg/kg BW resulted in the widest white pulp (495.8 ± 58.2 µm) and the highest leukocytes count (6725 ± 1018 cell/mL), respectively. On the red pulp serving as negative control numerous clusters of lymphocyte cells were found.Keywords: Escherichia coli, humic acid, peat soil, spleen, white pulp ABSTRAKSenyawa asam humat mempunyai potensi imunostimulan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian asam humat terhadap organ limpa mencit yang diinfeksi bakteri Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan enam perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut yakni kontrol normal, kontrol negatif, kontrol positif isoprinosin, asam humat dosis 62,5; 125; dan 250 mg/kg berat badan (BB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa infeksi bakteri E. coli pada mencit menyebabkan mencit mengalami gejala diare dan penurunan berat badan yang signifikan. Perbedaan signifikan (P<0,05) pada nilai hematokrit dan jumlah leukosit total perlakuan asam humat dan isoprinosin lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol negatif dan kontrol normal. Tidak terdapat perbedaan nyata (P>0,05) pada berat limpa mencit antar perlakuan, melalui pengamatan histologi ditemukan perbedaan ukuran histologi limpa mencit. Perlakuan asam humat 250 mg/kg BB mempunyai ukuran pulpa putih (495,8 ± 58,2µm) dan perlakuan asam humat 125 mg/kg BB mempunyai nilai leukosit tertinggi (6725 ± 1018 sel/mL). Pada pulpa merah perlakuan kontrol negatif ditemukan banyak sel limfosit yang menggerombol.Kata Kunci: asam humat, Escherichia coli, limpa, pulpa putih, tanah gambut

Abstract

Coliform merupakan salah satu bakteri yang dapat menyebabkan penyakit pada manusia dan dijadikan sebagai bakteri indikator keberadaan bakteri patogen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi dan mengidentifikasi genera bakteri golongan Coliform dari sampel air minuman lidah buaya. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode random sampling.  Deteksi genera bakteri menggunakan media selektif dan identifikasi berdasarkan karakter morfologis dan biokimia. Hasil identifikasi diperoleh tiga genera bakteri golongan Coliform yakni anggota genus Escherichia, Klebsiella dan Citrobacter.

Abstract

Aloe vera drink is one of the processed drinks made from the aloe vera leaves, washed until the mucus is reduced and boiled with water. Good drinking water should not contain pathogenic bacteria or organisms that can endanger human health. Coliform is one of the bacteria that can cause disease in humans and is used as an indicator of the presence of pathogenic bacteria. This study aimed to find out the most probable number (MPN) Coliform bacterial in aloe vera drinks which has sold at the location of the sale on Budi Utomo Street, Pontianak City. Sampling used the random sampling method. The MPN test results obtained the lowest MPN/mL index value of 0.091/mL in the samples purchased at the minimarket, while the seven samples obtained at the sales location showed the highest MPN/mL index value of> 24.00/mL. It showed that the eight samples reached over the normal limits listed in SNI 01-3839-1995 based on the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Health No. 907 / MENKES / SK / VII / 2002 concerning the requirements and supervision of the quality of drinking water which is not more than 0/100 ml.

Abstract

The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture in a continuous and excessive manner can cause damage to the soil, one of which is the increase of the cadmium (Cd) content. The increased level of Cd will have an effect on plant growth. This research aims to find out the growth of mustard greens due to the treatment of heavy metal (Cd) and to determine the concentration of Cd absorbed by plants. The research was carried out from March to May 2015 in the Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of Matematics and Naturan Sciences, of Tanjungpura University Pontianak, and the Cd analysis was conducted in the Laboratory of Agricultural Product Technology of the Faculty of Agriculture of Tanjungpura University. The eksperimental design used was the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments and 3 repetitions, i.e. 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm and 150 ppm. Research findings showed that the addition of cadmium reduces the number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight and chlorophyllcontent in the plant. The higher the concentration of Cd given to the plant, the higher the concentration of Cd absorbed by green cabbage.The highest concentration of Cd absorbed by green cabbage was 0,220 ppm at a treatment concentration of 150 ppm.

Abstract

Anthracnose is a disease that often attacks cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L). This study aims to determine the species of fungus from the fruit of cayenne pepper with anthracnose symptoms. Fungal isolation was carried out using the direct plating method and fungal identification was carried out by observing the macromorphological and micromorphological characteristics of the fungi. The results showed that two fungal species were obtained, namely Colletotrichum sp (WA2) and Idriella sp. (WA3). Colletotrichum sp. (WA2) is a pathogenic fungus that causes anthracnose and Idriella sp (WA3) is a saprophytic fungus, but it is also known to be capable of being a pathogenic fungus.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the species of complex thalloid livertwort in the Pontianak City Park. Sampling was conducted using the cruise method and was conducted from March to May 2016 in 13 locations of Pontianak city park namely Taman Tugu Khatulistiwa, Taman LAPAN, Taman Tol Kapuas 1, Taman Dinas PU Kota, Taman Jl. Ahmad Yani, Taman Akcaya, Taman Jl. Tengku Umar, Taman Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto, Taman Jl. Tanjungpura, Taman Alun-alun Kapuas, Taman Pancasila, and Taman Jl. Tebu. The research obtained four species of complex thalloid livertworts, namely Mannia sp., Marchantia paleacea, Riccia fluitans, and Riccia sorocarpa. M. paleacea is a rare species found only in one location of the park and R. fluitans is the species often found i.e. in the 10 locations of the park.
