About the Journal PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID) is an international, modern, general medical publication that publishes research on all aspects of medicine, from fundamental research to significant clinical trials and cost-effectiveness analyses. We generally publish human research that contribute to our understanding of medical epidemiology, etiology, and physiology; the development of prognostic and diagnostic technologies; clinical trials that evaluate the efficacy of particular therapies and comparative trials; and systematic reviews. We want to encourage the conversion of fundamental research into clinical trials and clinical evidence into therapeutic practice. When studies in animal models produce remarkable research findings that are extremely clinically relevant, we publish them on occasion. The international medical community, as well as educators, policymakers, patient advocacy groups, and other interested parties, are among our target audiences. The online edition of COMORBID is updated on a regular basis. Medical Informatics, Basic Science, Clinical Science, Case Report, Brief Communication, Public Health, Public Policy, and Review Articles from all branches of medicine and associated subjects are published in PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID)

Abstract

Mental retardation is a condition in which mental development is below average since birth or childhood, typically associated with overall lower intellectual development. The global prevalence of mental retardation in children is 14.8%. According to the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data, the prevalence of mental disorders and emotional disabilities in Indonesia was 9.8%, marking a 6% increase compared to 2013. The disability rate among children aged 5-17 in Indonesia is 3.3%, which includes cases of mental retardation. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and coping mechanisms in families with mentally disabled children attending Special Needs Schools (Sekolah Luar Biasa) in the city of Banda Aceh in 2023. The research methodology is analytical, with a total population of 50 individuals. The sample consists of 50 parents of mentally disabled children selected through purposive sampling. The research was conducted from January 7th to 12th, 2023, and involved both univariate and bivariate analyses. The study's results indicate that out of 50 respondents, the most common type of social support is instrumental support, with 33 individuals (66%), and the majority of coping mechanisms fall into the adaptive category, with 35 individuals (70%). The p-value obtained is 0.004, suggesting a significant correlation between social support and coping mechanisms among parents of mentally disabled children. Hence, parents should keep learning about intellectual disabilities and become better at taking care of children with such challenges.

Abstract

In the era of Industry 4.0, hospitals face numerous obstacles when it comes to embracing digital disruption. One of the major challenges is dealing with big data. With the increasing amount of data being generated in healthcare, hospitals struggle to effectively manage and analyze this vast amount of information. This paper highlights the challenges faced by hospitals in adopting digital disruption in the era of Industry 4.0. Some of the challenges include big data, scalability, data management, security and privacy, standardization, interoperability and regulation, human factors, implementation costs, networking, integrated IT infrastructure, skills, and device/system heterogeneity. The study suggests that immediate implementation of information technology is required to achieve optimal data integration on a national scale. Various recommendations have been formulated, including improving knowledge management of big data analytics and systems, as well as empowering human resources within the organization. The study calls for more research in Healthcare 4.0, addressing key barriers and identifying trends and gaps that require further exploration.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the demographics and behavioral patterns of domestic tourists in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study utilized a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach, employing online questionnaires to collect data from respondents who have traveled within the country since March 20, 2020. The collected data were analyzed to gain insights into the demographic characteristics, travel frequency, travel motivations, modes of transportation, and types of tourist attractions visited by the respondents. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents were aged between 19 and 25, primarily originating from Bali, East Java, and Yogyakarta provinces. The main reasons for travel were family invitations, recreation, and stress relief, with private vehicles being the preferred mode of transportation. In conclusion, this study highlights the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourists' travel intentions and preferences. By understanding the demographics and behavior of tourists, destination managers can develop effective marketing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen the competitiveness of tourism destinations in the current pandemic era.

Abstract

Hypertension is a serious health issue worldwide, leading to cardiovascular diseases like heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and kidney disease. To prevent hypertension, a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods is necessary, including adopting a healthy lifestyle and consuming herbal plants. For instance, cucumber juice therapy and a mix of beetroot and pineapple juice are commonly used. This study aims to compare the effects of red beet juice and cucumber juice on the blood pressure of hypertensive patients in Drien Tujoh Village, Tripa Makmur District, Nagan Raya Regency in 2023. The research involved 30 hypertensive patients over 35 years old, divided into two groups. The results showed a significant difference in blood pressure before and after the intervention with beetroot juice and cucumber juice. This indicates that both interventions can help lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers within the jurisdiction of the Batoh Community Health Center in Banda Aceh City. Diarrhea is identified as the leading cause of death in infants and toddlers, leading to poor nutritional status and growth failure. Accidental sampling was utilized as the method for selecting participants in this study. The findings revealed that out of the total participants, 8 individuals (33.3%) had low maternal knowledge regarding the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers, while 14 individuals (27.5%) had high knowledge in this area. On the other hand, 16 individuals (66.7%) had low knowledge regarding the absence of diarrhea in toddlers, while 37 individuals (72.5%) had high knowledge in this area. To determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers, the Chi-Square test was conducted. The test yielded a p-value of 0.803, which indicates that there is no significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers within the Batoh Community Health Center's jurisdiction in Banda Aceh City. These findings suggest that maternal knowledge alone may not be the sole determinant of the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers. Other factors such as hygiene practices, access to clean water, and proper sanitation may also play a significant role in preventing diarrhea in this population. Further research is needed to explore these factors and develop comprehensive interventions to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in infants and toddlers in this community.
