About the Journal PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID) is an international, modern, general medical publication that publishes research on all aspects of medicine, from fundamental research to significant clinical trials and cost-effectiveness analyses. We generally publish human research that contribute to our understanding of medical epidemiology, etiology, and physiology; the development of prognostic and diagnostic technologies; clinical trials that evaluate the efficacy of particular therapies and comparative trials; and systematic reviews. We want to encourage the conversion of fundamental research into clinical trials and clinical evidence into therapeutic practice. When studies in animal models produce remarkable research findings that are extremely clinically relevant, we publish them on occasion. The international medical community, as well as educators, policymakers, patient advocacy groups, and other interested parties, are among our target audiences. The online edition of COMORBID is updated on a regular basis. Medical Informatics, Basic Science, Clinical Science, Case Report, Brief Communication, Public Health, Public Policy, and Review Articles from all branches of medicine and associated subjects are published in PHARMACOLOGY, MEDICAL REPORTS, ORTHOPEDIC, AND ILLNESS DETAILS (COMORBID)

Abstract

Mercury (Hg) is a toxic material widely used in gold mining to refine the metal. The amalgamation process in gold processing has been shown to damage the environment and human health. Natural sources of mercury include volcanic gas and seawater evaporation. Mercury can enter the human body through skin contact, vapor inhalation, and consumption of contaminated fish. The study was conducted in June 2023 on 47 residents around gold mines in the Working Area of the UPTD Puskesmas Ujung Padang Rasian, South Aceh District, Aceh Province. The majority of respondents were male (97.10%) with an age range of 26-35 years (37.10%). The majority had S1 education (45.70%) and lived there for 17-25 years (22.80%). Common acute clinical symptoms included cough, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Chronic symptoms included somatosensory disturbances, headaches, muscle cramps, tremors, erythema and weight loss. The majority of respondents experienced symptoms such as cough (31 respondents), nausea (30 respondents), vomiting (25 respondents), headache (24 respondents), and diarrhea (18 respondents) due to mercury exposure.

Abstract

Filariasis is a chronic infectious disease caused by filarial worms and transmitted by Mansonia, Anopheles, Culex, Armigeres mosquitoes. One of the Filariasis endemic areas is in Paya Laot Village, Setia Bakti Regency, therefore all residents in Paya Laot Village are required to take Filariasis prevention drugs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the elephantiasis control program in Setia Bakti district. This research is descriptive research, data collection is done by in-depth interviews. The results showed that the implementation of the elephantiasis control program was optimal because all the main tasks in the program had been carried out and achieved the set targets, but for vector control there was no special supervision and there were still many people who were afraid to take elephantiasis prevention drugs because they could cause side effects. The elephantiasis control program is carried out from 2019 to 2023, the coverage of drug administration achieved in Paya Laot Village, Setia Bakti Regency is 89% of the target number who took the drug and 83% who took the drug from the population in 2019, 90% of the target number who took the drug and 82% who took the drug from the population in 2023. Based on the results of the study, it is hoped that the Health Office of the loyal bakti Regency will supervise vector control and socialization to people who are still afraid to take elephantiasis prevention drugs.

Abstract

The incidence of gout in the world is estimated at 47.2% which varies in various populations spread throughout the world. The prevalence of gout in the population aged> 15 years according to the district of Aceh Jaya based on the highest doctor's diagnosis is in several gampong (12.62%), therefore the Indarajaya Health Center working area was chosen as the location of this study. This study aims to determine the predictors of gout in communities in coastal areas. This study used a case-control study design. The population in this study were people living in coastal areas of the Indra Jaya Health Center working area with a total sample of 106 samples (53 cases and 53 controls). Sampling using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection using a questionnaire and the data that has been collected is statistically analyzed using the chi-square test at a confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05) which aims to analyze predictors of uric acid. The results showed that genetic factors with a value of (p = 0.004: OR = 3.559: CI = 1.483-8.539) and purine consumption patterns with a value of (p = 0.02: OR = 3.103: CI = 1.162-8.288). It can be concluded that genetic factors and purine consumption patterns are predictors or risk factors for the incidence of gout in coastal communities in the Indrajaya Health Center working area. We recommend that coastal communities limit food.

Abstract

Peptic ulcer is one of the health problems in the community with a high prevalence. According to WHO in 2019 the incidence of gastric ulcers in the world reached 1.8 million to 2.1 million people each year. From the results of an initial survey conducted in the community of Panga sub-district, Aceh Jaya district. out of 10 people who had been interviewed, 8 people stated that they experienced gastric ulcers such as pain in the stomach. Research was conducted to determine the determinants of the incidence of gastric ulcers. This type of research is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional study approach. The independent variables are diet, coffee consumption, sleep patterns, stress levels, while the dependent variable is the incidence of gastric ulcers. The research was conducted in 2023. The population in the study was the community of panga sub-district, aceh jaya district as many as 156 people, while the sample was 112 students. The sampling technique used in the study was random sampling. The results of this study showed that diet and coffee consumption had a significant relationship with the incidence of peptic ulcers, while sleep patterns and stress levels had no significant effect. Regular coffee consumption can reduce the risk of peptic ulcer in the community of Panga District, Aceh Jaya Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate and quantify the impact of exercise on insulin and glucagon levels. Employing a systematic approach, this research delves into various journal databases including Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus. Criteria for inclusion in this study encompass articles on physical activity, insulin, glucagon, their mechanisms, and publications from the past five years. Only articles from anonymous journals are considered for inclusion. A total of 12,380 articles were identified from Embase, Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases. Approximately ten articles meeting the criteria for this systematic review were thoroughly examined and analyzed. The study adhered to the reporting guidelines outlined in the PRISMA checklist for Systematic and Meta-Analysis. Findings from this systematic review analysis reveal a decrease in insulin secretion and an increase in glucagon production following physical exercise. This is associated with enhanced insulin sensitivity and increased glucose absorption by glucagon post-exercise. Incorporating physical exercise into one's routine is recommended as a proactive measure to enhance insulin sensitivity, elevate glucagon levels, promote glucose synthesis, mitigate energy imbalances, and uphold overall health.
