Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine how accountability is practised by charity institutions in Nigeria. The paper employs Ebrahim"™s charity accountability framework to analyse BudgIT"™s website, public related documents and news. It is observed that the practice of accountability by BudgIT lays emphasis on upward accountability to donors, focused on primarily reporting basic descriptive financial and performance information. However the research is based on a content analysis of a single charity organisation and, therefore, any generalising of the conclusions beyond BudgIT may not represent the reporting behaviour of all charity institutions in Nigeria. This paper is among the few studies that investigate the reporting behaviour of charitable institutions in a developing country, thus contributing to the scanty literature on charitable accountability in Nigeria.

Abstract

Almost all forest areas in the districts / cities in West Kalimantan experience reduced area. Reducing the area of forest area or deforestation can, of course, have a detrimental impact on the environment which in turn can disrupt the sustainability of development itself. Deforestation has ecological, economic and social impacts. The higher the rate of deforestation, it will cause the potential impact will also increase. West Kalimantan experienced a fairly high level of deforestation. This gives an indication that the impact caused by deforestation in West Kalimantan has a relatively high potential. In other words, deforestation causes losses including economic losses. Related to this, the research question is how much economic value is the loss caused by deforestation in West Kalimantan? This research has 2 (two) objectives: first, calculating the economic costs of deforestation in West Kalimantan during the period 2009-2015, and second, analyzing the effect of the economic costs of deforestation on West Kalimantan's GDP during the period 2009-2015. Based on the data base for the period 2009 to 2015 and using the benefit transfer technique, this research has found that the highest economic losses occur in the secondary production forest and the lowest in the conservation forest area. Furthermore, during the period 2009 to 2015, this study has found that the highest economic loss value occurred in 2013 and the lowest occurred in 2011. Overall, the value of economic losses in the form of a combination of depletion and degradation provides a less significant reduction on the value of the forestry sub-sector GRDP in West Kalimantan.

The results of hypothesis testing proved that the sales experience factor, salesperson skill, sales interaction quality and effectiveness of sales activities had a positive effect on significant sales performance. The research model can be accepted, from the results calculated by the suitability index where the chi-square value is 200,633, probability value 0.027, TLI value 0,974, CFI value 0,977, CMIN / DF 1,223 and RMSEA 0,043 all of which meet the requirements even though the GFI value is 0,880 and AGFI 0,846 can marginal accepted.

Abstract

With an increasing degree of connections among firms forming network of economic activities, it is timely to assess the potential of these upon embedded firms.   This article presents empirical evidence to that end.   It distinguishes between decentralized and centralized network structure that illustrate the difficulties encountered in managing an inter-firm network structure.   Although considerable studies has been performed in network issues affecting firms performance,   very few research analyse the complicating attributes of a centralized network structure on its effects on firms performance.   Thus this article described different attributes of the centralized network and its effects on firms"™ relational capital outcomes.   Using social network analysis methodology this study found that certain structural position occupied by firms in network impacts on its relational capital outcome.   This study is significant as it"™s contributed to prudent management of resources in managing complex network structure.   Future research is also discussed.
