Abstract

Nowadays economic independence is one indicator in measuring the welfare of a country. Economic independence is made from the current country's economic system. An economic system is a systematic way in which a country distributes its resources. The better the system is implemented, the better the economic growth rate of the country will be. One things that mostly affect the rate of economic growth is the increasing number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, the government has designed the program for SMEs which is not supported by Good Corporate Governance (GCG), which results in lack of integrations between the government program and the SME management system. The purpose of this study is to investigate aspects of the management arrangements of 150 SMEs in Padang, and also to identified all aspects which is need to be modified so that the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) system can be implemented on these SMEs. The survey results in this study found that the implementation of Good Corporate Governance in Padang City SMEs is still very limited, so this research still needs to be explored further to find the right Good Corporate Governance (GCG) patterns implemented for Padang"™s SMEs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of voluntary disclosure (VD) by using three non-interaction models and one interaction model. This paper observes four VD"™s determinants (ownership dispersion, managerial ownership, audit committee, and independent commissioners), one control variable (capital structure), and one moderating variable (total asset). By using panel data analysis (225 observations) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), it is found that the total asset can be used as the moderating variable in explaining the determinants of VD in IDX. Furthermore, the interaction model shows better results than non-interaction models. Managerial ownership, independent commissioners, and ownership dispersion show high consistency with the tested hypotheses. This is different from the audit committee which does not support the hypothesis. These findings implicate managerial policies that need to consider good corporate governance in supporting the voluntary disclosure of public companies in Indonesia. Strengthening external validity in the form of replication, developing research models, and refining research methods is needed to strengthen the managerial implications. Testing the robustness by simulating various substitute proxies to optimize the generalization of research findings needs to be considered in future studies.

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to predict the intentions of tourists to choose sustainable tourism destinations based on travel motivation, destination image, and word of mouth (WoM). Destination image factor is moderated by the knowledge factor. Survey targets domestic and international tourists who have visited or planned to travel at least one tourist destination around Belitung Island using the convenience sampling method. A total of 250 online questionnaires were distributed to tourists in popular tourism destinations on the island of Belitung and analyzed using the Smart PLS application. Findings of this study prove that all factors positively influence tourist intentions to choose sustainable tourism destinations. Furthermore, this research proves that tourism knowledge cannot moderate image of destination in intention of tourists to choose sustainable tourism destinations. Belitung Island is one of the main islands in Bangka Belitung Province which is developing tourism potential, especially in marine tourism. Stakeholders related to tourism on Belitung Island must find ways to encourage knowledge sharing among all interested parties and also outside their direct influence, namely information owned by tourists.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of CEO tenure on readability of narratives disclosure. This study also included company size and company age as control variables. The sample used in this study was 482 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018. There are not many studies on readability of narratives disclosure in Indonesia, so this study is expected to motivate academics to develop studies on disclosure narrative readability. The results showed that more longer CEO tenure could increase the readability of narratives disclosure. This condition can occur because CEO with longer tenure will be better able to communicate firm conditions in naratives disclosure that is simpler and easier to understand than CEO with shorter tenure. Moreover, firm size and firm age add complexity to narratives disclosure and decrease readability. This condition occurs because more larger the firm size and more older the firm age can create more items that must be disclosed in the narratives disclosure. This study can use to enrich the literature about influence of CEO tenure on readability of narratives disclosure.
