This study was conducted as an attempt to find out the effect of Think Pair Share Strategy on students’ reading comprehension achievement. This research used the experimental design. The population of this research was the students of SMP Budisatrya. The Sample of this research was the 2014/2015 seventh grade students of SMP Budisatrya with the total number 40 of students as sample taken by using random sampling technique. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. The instrument used to collect the data was multiple choice tests of pre-test and post-test. To obtain the result of the reliability of the test, the Kuder Richardson formula (KR21) was used. The result of the calculation showed that the reliability of the test was significant. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that t- value was higher than t- table (2.46>2, 021) at the level of significance 0,05 with the degree of freedom (df) 38. Therefore, null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using Think Pair Share Strategy on students’ reading comprehension achievement.

This study attempts to discover the effect of using Team Games Tournament Technique on students’ achievement in reading report text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the eleventh (XI) grade students of SMA Hang Tuah Belawan which consists of 4 parallel classes with the total number of students is 120. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class XI1 consisted of 30 students became the experimental group and class XI3 consisted of 30 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by Team Games Tournament Technique while the control group was taught by using lecture technique. The instrument was used to collect the data was reading report text. After the data were analyzed, it was found that the value of t-test was 5,50 with the degree of freedom (df) = 58 at the level significance 0.05. it means that t-test was higher than t-table (5,50 > 2,000. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted.

This research deals with the effect of problem based learning on students’ recount text writing achievement. The population of this research was the students of VIII SMP of SMP Negeri 18 Medan in Academic Year 2015 / 2016. This research was conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using problem based learning strategy and the control group was taught without using problem based learning. The researcher collected the data by giving essay test in the written test form. In order to know the reliability of the test, the researcher used inter-rater formula. The result of the reliability was 0, 93. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis showed that the mean scores of the students in the experimental group was significantly higher than the mean scores of the students in the control group at the level of significant α= 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 70 with tobserved value 7,327 > ttable value 1,994. Therefore, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The finding indicated that problem based learning significantly affected the students’ achievement in writing recount text.

This is an attempt to discover the effect of applying the Group Investigation Technique on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive texts. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the second (VIII) grade students of SMPS Dharma Patra Pangkalan Berandan. There were one- hundred and ninety students involved as the population. Which consists of five parallel classes, two classes out of five classes was chosen as the sample by using lottery technique namely experimental and control group. The result was class VIII-A consisted of 15 students became the experimental group and class VIII-B consisted of 15 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Group Investigation Technique while the control group was taught by do not using the treatment. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that the value of t-observed (5,85) is higher than the value of t-table (2.048) ( α = 0.05 ) with the degree of freedom (df) = 28. It means that there is a significant effect of applying Group Investigation Technique on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive texts. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

The objective of this study was to find out the effect of using Scrabbles on Students’ Vocabulary Achievement. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this study was the Seventh Grade students of SMP Sinar Harapan (72) the class sample (VII2) was taken purposively and divided into two smaller classes. The data collection in this study was done by giving multiple choice tests. The material was texts about mass communication and they were being informed to the students in two ways, by using scrabbles and non-scrabbles. Pre-test and post-test were administered to find out the score of every student. The scores were being calculated into mean classes and analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis result of this study showed that experimental group (Scrabbles Learning Class) has reached better result which was indicated by the mean 73,125 (mean of Experimental Group) compared to 63, 375 (mean of Control Group). Statistically the result of both groups after being tested by t-test formula shows that tobs 5,065 is higher than ttable 2.088 (tobs 5, 065 > ttable 2.088), this concluded that Ho is Rejected and Ha is Accepted.
