Abstract

The inequality of women's roles in carrying out their movements is one of the triggers for women's inconsistency in efforts to prosper the economy in the family because of various barriers that limit their movements. Gender grouping and patriarchy systems that encroach on women hinder women's movements in the public sphere. Due to these problems, Batik villages have become a place for empowering women to balance the role and function of women in the public sector without neglecting their role in the domestic sphere. This study aims to determine the tactics of kampung batik telaga in carrying out women's economic empowerment through strategic planning and determine the factors that hinder and support the establishment of kampung batik telaga. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with qualitative methods. Data was collected through interviews, observation, literature, and documentation. The results of this study show that women's economic empowerment tactics are compiled on target planning, starting with the socialization of training and supported by the existence of facilities provided and supervised in a sustainable. The strategies use personal and intrapersonal approaches and involve women in all decisions that correlate with Batik villages. From planning a strategy that is right on target, the pattern of empowerment and the emergence of supporting and inhibiting factors that will control the sustainability of the empowerment carried out can be known.

Abstract

The phenomenon of violence against women in the online world is not only facilitated but has shifted to exist with the help of digital technology. Online Gender-Based Violence (KBGO) is prone to attack women, considering that patriarchal patterns and power relations are the main problems. One form Act of Gender-Based Violence (KBGO) that enlivens the social media universe on Twitter is the banning of illicit fatwas by Saudi Arabian clerics on the use of Breast Holders (BH) or Bras in front of other men who are not their mahram, which had become a hot topic and was disseminated massively on social media Twitter. This research uses qualitative methods through interview techniques accompanied by several supporting sources such as documentation and literature studies. This study aims to bring other alternatives to the Islamic perspective that are able to change, make the perpetrator's perspective aware, and increase public awareness of the real form of KBGO. KUPI (Congress of Indonesian Women Ulama) Indonesia is a network of female ulama in Indonesia, which initiated a religious interpretation movement that protects women's groups, to view and respond critically to the existence of fatwas and discourses of expectations for the use of Breast Holders (BH) or Bras in front of other men who are not their mahram. The results of this study include first, Online-Based Gender Violence (KBGO) occurs because of power relations against women, where there is a hierarchical, unequal relationship and dependence on social status and culture, as well as the knowledge that gives rise to more than one party's power over the other. Others secondly, KUPI strongly rejects the phenomenon of online-based gender violence (KBGO) and argues that the fatwa prohibiting the use of bras for women in front of men who are not their mahrams and widely distributed on Twitter is included in the category of online-based gender violence. (KBGO), as well as KUPI discourse, any religious fatwa must be viewed and treated critically and constructively, especially the fatwa concerning and discussing women's fundamental rights in various fields of life, whether religious, political, social, or cultural.

Abstract

Over time, the ease of access has been to the advantage of men and the disadvantage of women, especially in a traditional society like Nigeria. However, despite the marginalization, it appears that women are beginning to challenge norms, traditions, cultures, and stereotypes by breaking free from the shackles of patriarchy. Hence, this study examines the current perception of femininity concerning employment and income. Specifically, it aimed at understanding how the clamor for gender equality and equity has changed one of the characteristics of femininity from “Oriaku” to “Okpataku” in a typical patriarchal society like Anambra State, Nigeria. Using the Constructionist Theory of representation as a framework, the study adopts in-depth interviews as a qualitative approach. Findings reveal that both men and women are more comfortable with being Okpataku than Oriaku, owing to the recent harsh economic reality in the country. Recommendations were made based on the findings.
