Abstract

Land conversion at Desa Jatibaru had widely impact on the rice planting area, it decrease rice productivity. A research conducted to determine the impact of land conversion from paddy fields to palm oil plantation at Desa Jatibaru, it affects not only to decreased of rice productivity but also to environment, economic, social and cultural impact .The objective of the research was to analyse the impact of land conversion from paddy fields to palm oil plantation. The research use Case study approach by using observation and in-depth interview methods. The result show that the number of animals and plants in paddy fields is higher than oil palm plantations. The conversion of paddy to oil palm plantations will have an impact on the sustainability of ecosystem diversity. The impact of land conversion on the economy is the larger financial income on oil palm farmers compared to wetland paddy farmers. The impact of land conversion to social and cultural is to give an increase on the social status of oil palm farmers and the diminishing of mutual cooperation and harvest activities in Jatibaru.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze well water consumption properness, to analyze the effect of length septic tank to well water properness, and to analyzethe effect of soil type to well water consumption properness of type 36 housing in Pekanbaru. The method of this study is quantitative with cross sectional. Based on the analysis result, it is found that the feasibility of the well water consumption in the type 36 housing in Pekanbaru City on the turbidity parameter is only Rumbai Sub-district exceeding the quality standard, Escherichia coli parameter or total coliform exceeds the standard quality, pH parameter has acid water does not reach the quality standard. The influence of the distance of the fecal container tube with the feasibility of the well water of type 36 housing in Pekanbaru City is the parameter of Escherichia coli or total coliform by using chi-square test has correlation or interplay relationship ≤ 0.05. The influence of soil type that is found on the feasibility of well water of type 36 housing in Pekanbaru City is on Escherichia coli parameter by using chi-square test has correlation or interrelation relationship ≤ 0.05. The results of the analysis of the water wellness feasibility of type 36 housing in Pekanbaru City is evaluated from the aspect of the quality of physical, biological, chemical parameters, related to the effect of distance and type of well water to the fecal reservoir.

Abstract

Benzene is well known as a good organic solvent for various processes in industry such as rubber industry, shoes, paint solvents and others. Benzene is a chemical that has long been known to be dangerous to human health because of carcinogenic. One of the informal sectors exposed to benzene is a car painting workshop. This study is intended to determine the levels of phenol in workers urine and analyze the effects of the exposureon the characteristics of the car painting worker in sub districts of Tampan Pekanbaru. The methods used in study are survey and interview. The analysis used in this research is a multiple linear regression, where the independent variable more than 2 variables. They are smoking habit, length of work, duration of exposure and use of PPE. The examination by using the UV-Vis spectrophotometer apparatus. The result showed that were 6 workers who had phenolythuramines level above 20 mg/L exceed of WHO standards. The analysis result found that is affect workers characteristic which is significant to the phenol level in workers urine that has exposed to the benzene.

Abstract

Research on pollution load of shrimp ponds around Sungai Kembung in Bengkalis Island Riau Province cultivate shrimp with intensive cultivation technology. Feeding that is not appropriate for size can contribute nitrate and phosphate levels to nature that can trigger eutrophication. The purpose of this research is to analyze the pollution load BOD5, DO, NO3 - dan PO4-3 at Sungai Kembung. The results showed that pollutant concentrations in the River Kembung had crossed the threshold according to KepMen LH No 51/Men-KLH/2004 which is destined for marine biota. The pollution load BOD5 shows that Statiun 2 is the highest station receiving pollution loads equal to 16.094 tons/month. Nitrate pollution load on the Station 2 is the highest station to receive pollution load is equal to 39 tons/month. The pollution load of phosphate indicates that the Station 2 is the highest station to receive pollution load that is equal to 38 tons/month. The pollution load of DO indicates that the smallest contamination load (the most polluted) is on the Station 1 equal to 278 tons/month.

Abstract

Work as a palm oil mill worker is a job at risk of exposure to noise that exceeds the threshold value. The purpose of this study was to measure the intensity of noise on the occurrence of hearing complaints, psychological disturbances and Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) on workers and analyze the relationship of worker characteristics; age, length of service, use of Ear Protective Equipment (EPE) and knowledge of hearing complaints, psychological disorders and NIHL disorders. The research approach used in this research is survey method using cross sectional analytic research design with sampling using purposive sampling technique as many as 40 workers. Data were collected by measuring noise intensity, questionnaires and audiometry inspection. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analyzes were processed using Spearman test. The result of the research shows that there is a considerable noise hazard in the work environment of PT. GBI, while the potential impact experienced by workers due to noise in low risk levels. The relation between factory noise intensity and worker characteristic; age, working period, knowledge and compliance of EPE usage in general have no significant relation to the incidence of hearing complaints, psychological disorders and NIHL disorders in workers, except in the variable level of knowledge with psychological disorders have a significant relationship.

Abstract

The existing soft drink factory can produce liquid organic waste with a COD content starts from 6,000 mg/l to 15,000 mg/l with a discharge by 10 m3/day to 100 m3/day. The objective of the research is to obtain organic waste processing equipment that produces processing that meets the threshold value. The research outcomes are as a reference for the industry that requires a representative organic waste treatment unit.The research is divided into two stages in two years. The first year of the research is semi-aerobic and anaerobic process, then for second year is aerobic process research, semi-aerobic process, anaerobic process and aerobic process. The 12 hours HRT process at the first run resulted in a COD concentration of 12,000 mg/l to 8,765 mg/l directly entering an anaerobic I and out 4,640 mg/l and entering anaerobic II reactor and exiting with COD 1,380 mg/l. Decrease percentage of total COD (12,000 – 1,380) x 100 /12,000 = 88.5%. The 18 hours HRT process at the first run resulted in a COD concentration by 12,000 mg/l to 8,665 mg/l entering the anaerobic reactor I and out 4,125 mg/l and entering the anaerobic II and out with COD 965 mg/l. Decrease in total COD (12,000 - 965) x 100 / 12,000 = 91.95%.From the experimental stage of semi-aerobic step-screening-anaerobic treatment of two-stage liquid liquor soft drink obtained COD concentration of 12,000 mg/l can be reduced concentration to the threshold specified with removal of 88.5% - 91.95%.

Abstract

Given the importance of environmental health at puskesmas in the environmental health care system to create a healthy environment that can provide protection for patients and puskesmas. This study aims to analyze the partial and simultaneous influence between the buildings outside, building in the building, sanitation facilities and hygiene management on environmental health condition, analyze the effect of Puskesmas environment condition to the satisfaction and number of patient visit at Pekanbaru Health Center. This study used survey methods conducted at all public health centers in Pekanbaru City from April to August 2017. The sample size was 20 Puskesmas and 400 patients visited the Puskesmas. The tools and materials used in this research are observation instruments and use checklists and questionnaire interview instruments (questionnaires). The partial simultaneous effect of outbuildings, in-building buildings, sanitation facilities and hygiene management on the health condition of the puskesmas was used multiple regression tests, with the result of correlation of the condition of outsides to 0.321 outbuildings, buildings in 0.834, sanitation facilities 0.876 and cleanliness management 0.640. The direction of positive relationships shows the greater the assessment of the four variables will increasingly make the score of environmental health assessments getting bigger as well. Influence of health condition of environment of puskesmas toward patient satisfaction using multiple linear regression test and the result is 0,669. This shows a strong influence between environment health variable of puskesmas and satisfaction of respondent who come to visit puskesmas. R Square 0,448 or coefficient of determination mean 44,8% satisfaction of respondent can be explained by environment health variable of puskesmas. The influence of health condition of puskesmas on the number of patient visit using simple linear regression test and the result is 0,628. This shows a strong correlation between environment health variables of puskesmas with respondent visit coming to visit puskesmas. R Square 0,394 or coefficient of determination mean 39,4% of respondent visit can be explained by environment health variable of puskesmas while the rest is explained by other cause. It is necessary to increase health promotion and education about the importance of environmental health of puskesmas for the community about the health condition of the environment that fulfill the health requirement and increasing the role of Dinas Kesehatan in supervision of health of puskesmas environment to be better and become the reference of accreditation of puskesmas according to standard from the Ministry of Health RI.

Abstract

The existence of forests continues to decline in terms of quantity (breadth) and quality through the process of deforestation and forest degradation. Deforestation and forest degradation have an impact on the destruction of ecosystems in the region and reduced forested areas that lead to less optimal functioning of areas as conservation areas. This study aims to determine the rate and rate of deforestation and forest degradation as well as the source of threats in the Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve area. The analytical method used by land cover change with stages: satellite image cutting, classification, groundcheck and analysis of deforestation rate and forest degradation. Classification uses visual interpretation techniques (on screen digitize). Factors affecting deforestation and forest degradation were analyzed by logistic regression. The results show that for 20 years (1996-2016) there has been deforestation of 2,879.73 hectares (0.15% per year) and forest degradation of 15,604.92 hectares (0.83% per year). Deforestation and forest degradation in SM Kerumutan is influenced by six driving factors such as population density, forest distance from road, forest distance from river, forest distance from settlement, forest distance from agricultural land and forest distance from industrial plantation forest.
