Abstract

Modern Hermeneutics is rooted in the realities of the readers and their culture. But what if readers are going to be their own Hermes? What kind of authority is left for the Bible as the Holy Word of God? The Calvinistic concept of autopistia, the self-convincing of Scripture, attempts to preserve the balance between tradition and inner light, between objectivity and subjectivity. It ties the Bible to God and the Holy Spirit but also to the readers and their context. With the autopistia as background this article contributes with a new hermeneutic frame with three vantage points: (1) the Text as Viva Vox Dei, (2) the reader, and (3) the historical and present hermeneutical community of readers, the church.

Abstract

Adam brings humanity from paradise to wilderness by his disobedience toward God. Since then, humanity endures countless sufferings in this world and eternal damnation because of sin. But Christ as the second Adam brings himself from paradise to wilderness in order to bring his people from wilderness to paradise by his perfect obedience. Since then, his people not only have the assurance of eternal salvation but also have the possibilities to exercise paradise in the wilderness with Him. Even more, by the power of the Holy Spirit, his people will accomplish their calling as disciples by witnessing paradise in the wilderness contemporary societies to point them to Christ. An exegetical approach on Mark 1:9-13 gives us a strong foundation to discuss the nature of wilderness and its challenges, followed by the Paradise motive which is exclusive to Mark. The significance of the discussion will bring light to explain why so many prophets and apostles exercise real joy in the face of great suffering and tribulation. And of course, from the discussion it is also true for his people in the present and future to exercise or even more to bring paradise into the wilderness by the grace of God.

Abstract

Perdebatan dalam Teologi Kovenan seakan tidak ada habisnya. Meski kovenan di Eden pada umumnya diterima dalam aras Reformed, namun ada pula yang menolaknya, sebutlah John Murray dan Anthony Hoekema. Salah satu alasan penolakan terhadap Kovenan Kerja disebabkan absennya anugerah dalam konsep kovenan sebagai kontrak antara dua belah pihak. Tulisan ini akan menelusuri secara singkat ragam interpretasi mengenai relasi pra kejatuhan, yakni relasi alamiah-anugerah serta natur perjanjian pertama di Eden. Dari tinjauan kesejarahan tersebut terlihat bahwa anugerah terkait dengan relasi kovenantal yang independen dari relasi alamiah. Penulis akan mengargumentasikan bahwa relasi kovenantal bersifat universal dan inheren dalam karya penciptaan, oleh karenanya mencakup relasi alamiah, sehingga anugerah merupakan landasan bagi relasi Allah dengan Adam di Eden. Selanjutnya akan disajikan bahwa landasan anugerah tersebut tertuang dalam bentuk formal Kovenan Penciptaan. Dengan meminjam pemikiran Herman Hoeksema akan disimpulkan bahwa tujuan perjanjian di Eden adalah persekutuan dengan Allah melalui karya penatalayanan ciptaan.

Abstract

Presuppositional apologetics has become a main alternative (or competitor?) for the classical apologetics which maintains evidences. Although its emergence occurred within the Reformed tradition, particularly through the effort of Cornelius Van Til and Gordon Clark, its significance goes beyond the Reformed tradition. Even the contemporary evangelical apologist, Ravi Zacharias, also utilizes presuppositional apologetics which he combines with evidentialistic method. This fact is hardly denied when we read his book "Jesus among Other Gods." Thus, the main concern of this article is regarding the significance of the presuppositional apologetics particularly in its Van Tillian form. After presenting an exposition on this method, we will see its application toward Muslims' concept of God and the idea of uniformity.

Abstract

Teologi doa Luther merupakan salah satu teologi doa Kristen yang penting. Luther dalam teologi doanya menunjukkan hubungan yang erat antara teologi dan doa. Ia juga menerapkan pengertian-pengertian teologi doanya. Kehidupan dan pelayanannya memperlihatkan doa sebagai sarana utama kehendak Allah dikerjakan dalam hidupnya. Luther adalah seorang yang berdoa. Ia menyatakan alasan mengapa doa begitu penting dalam hidupnya dalam tulisan- tulisan teologisnya. Dengan melihat makna doa, motivasi doa, sikap doa, sasaran doa, cara berdoa, syarat-syarat doa, doa dan Allah Tritunggal, doa dan Anfechtungen, serta manfaat doa maka teologi doa Luther dapat disarikan dan disusun menjadi suatu teologi doa yang alkitabiah.

Abstract

Dalam perdebatan "Paulus dan hukum Taurat" di kalangan para ahli, Douglas J. Moo mempertahankan posisi tradisi Reformed. Moo di dalam tafsiran surat Galatia menyatakan bahwa sekalipun hukum Taurat tidak memiliki otoritas langsung, tetapi tetap menjadi sumber secara tidak langsung untuk umat Allah dalam Perjanjian Baru. Dalam tulisan ini akan dibuktikan bagaimana Moo dalam surat Galatia menunjukkan pemikiran ini, yang tentu memberi manfaat bagi orang Kristen dalam mengerti kontinuitas hukum Taurat dalam salah satu surat Paulus.

Abstract

Buku The Sickness Unto Death menjadi salah satu kunci memahami konsep diri menurut Kierkeegard. Di buku ini, Anti-Climacus, nama samaran Kierkegaard, digambarkan sebagai figur Kristen yang memiliki level lebih tinggi dari Kierkegaard sendiri. Diri barulah dapat terwujud melalui sintesis dari berbagai relasi, dan saat berada dalam keseimbangan diantara kutub-kutub yang bertegangan antara tak terbatas dan terbatas, mewaktu dan kekal, serta kebebasan dan keharusan. Pewujudan diri yang ideal juga memerlukan model ideal yang hendak dicapai, yaitu pribadi Yesus Kristus yang bersifat universal sekaligus partikular.

Abstract

Dalam artikel ini penulis melakukan kajian pada aspek- aspek teologis, filosofis dan sosiologis dari pekerjaan untuk memahaminya secara Kristiani. Analisis ini akan dipakai untuk menyusun suatu usulan etika kerja Kristen yang dapat diterapkan pada zaman ini. Ada tiga sumber yang akan dipertimbangkan dalam mengulas etika kerja Kristen tersebut: alkitab, tradisi, dan situasi hidup modern.
