Artikel ini mencoba untuk menggambarkan teologi Calvin tentang Perjamuan Kudus sebagai jawaban ekumenis untuk menjembatani polemik antara Luther dan Zwingli dalam komunitas Protestan dengan meninjau pandangan awal dan akhir tulisan Calvin. Saya berargumentasi bahwa pembacaan ekumenis Calvin terhadap kedua reformator telah membantu mentransformasi polemik yang ada menjadi alternatif kreatif. Saya akan membandingkan pemahaman Luther dan Zwingli tentang Perjamuan Kudus. Kemudian, tulisan awal Calvin tentang Perjamuan Kudus akan digambarkan sebagai jalan tengah antara Luther dan Zwingli. Bagian ketiga membahas tulisan Calvin belakangan tentang Perjamuan Kudus, yang akan diikuti oleh tinjauan historis dari beberapa teolog dan juga Konsili Kalsedon. Natur relasi antara tanda dan yang ditunjuk oleh tanda merupakan hal yang kompleks dan multidimensi. Tinjauan historis juga meneguhkan jiwa ekumenis Calvin. Akhirnya disimpulkan bahwa meskipun masih ada perbedaan pandangan, ada kemiripan yang bermanfaat dari berbagai pandangan teologis.

Teologi doa Luther selain menyatakan hubungan erat antara teologi dan doa, juga memperlihatkan implikasi praktisnya dalam kehidupan Kristen. Dengan mengamati implikasi teologi doanya ini dalam empat aspek hidup (pribadi, keluarga, gereja, dan masyarakat), maka akan tampak bahwa teologi Kristen khususnya teologi doa memiliki relevansi yang kuat dan memberikan pengaruh yang besar bagi kehidupan orang-orang percaya. Dengan demikian kehidupan orang percaya menjadi kehidupan yang memberikan berkat kepada dunia ini.

Dasar teologi devosi Mariawi yang dikembangkan oleh Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort adalah kecintaannya pada Maria yang diperoleh melalui pengajaran Alkitab, tradisi gereja katolik, dan Magisterium gereja Katolik mengenai Mariologi. Signifikansi yang diberikan teologi ini terhadap spiritualitas umat Katolik yaitu sudut pandang baru untuk mengkhususkan hidup secara total kepada Yesus melalui Maria dan pendekatan devosi yang menyatakan bahwa Yesus dan Maria tidak terpisahkan. Akibat ajaran dan karya Montfort ini, muncul semangat yang baru dalam devosi kepada Maria sehingga muncul kongregasi-kongregasi baru di dalam spiritualitas Mariawi. Kongregasi-kongregasi yang berdiri akibat ajaran Montfort adalah Company of Mary, Daughters of Wisdom, dan Brothers of Saint Gabriel. Studi ini membuktikan bahwa menurut sudut pandang teologi Reformed, teologi devosi Mariawi ini bukanlah ajaran yang berdasarkan Alkitab. Alkitab mengajarkan devosi umat hanya kepada Allah Tritunggal di dalam dan melalui Kristus tanpa perlu pengantara yang lain.

As two of the arguably greatest theologians in church history, both John Calvin and Karl Barth have recognized the significant role of union with Christ and presented it in their works respectively. However, there is no study devoted specifically on the comparison of the two theologians' thoughts regarding this critical theme. This article will start from exploring Calvin and Barth's doctrine of election, the root of their theology of union with Christ. Karl Barth frankly admits that he has departed from Calvin radically on the doctrine of election. While vindicating Barth's assertion, this article further argues that Calvin and Barth's divergent understandings on the root of union with Christ are driven by their contrasting ontological presuppositions. The clarification of that rooted difference will pave the way for our future study of Calvin and Barth's distinctive characterizing of union with Christ.

The notion that "God is light" is essential to the understanding of the literary structure of 1 John because it links units of thought in the Epistle. This central idea and its ethical implications, "living in the light" and "living in love," develop throughout the letter. To understand the function of this concept and to grasp its meaning in 1 John, the present study utilizes discourse analysis to read the document in light of its micro and macro structures. Interpreting the "God is light" teaching in the Epistle-based on its literary structure-will shed some light on understanding the main issue addressed in 1 John.?

This article describes Shankara's doctrine of non-duality and makes a Christian response. Dealing with the thought of this Indian great Philosopher is not an exaggerating effort for the concept of non- duality prevails in this New Age era. Terms such as Brahman (the absolute reality), Atman (the absolute basis of human soul which is identical to Brahman), and maya (illusion) are not peculiar to those who are familiar with the teaching of the today's New Age gurus, for instance, Deepak Chopra. Hence, my effort to react through the lens of the Christian faith will be worthwhile particularly to enrich our understanding in the realm of Christian apologetics. Here, my response shows the inherent metaphysical, logical, and ethical problems of Shankara's non-duality which he expounds in concepts like Brahman, Atman, and maya.

This article will continue to explore the influences of Calvin and Barth's different ontology on their distinct doctrine of union with Christ. After presenting Calvin's doctrine of union with Christ and Barth's teaching of participation in Christ, I will bring together the work of the previous study through comparison and evaluation. Although both Calvin and Barth adopt a Christocentric approach and similarly have a distinction between believers' objective and subjective union with Christ, their distinct ontological presuppositions, within their own philosophical and cultural contexts, drive Calvin to a theology of union with "being" and Barth to that of union with "doing". In that sense, Barth, in line with his actualistic ontology, does not only depart from Calvin in his doctrine of election as he claims, but also in his doctrine of participation in Christ or union with Christ, although he retains the Calvinist terminology.

The reality of the Trinity compels Bavinck to view the revelation as one single historical and organic whole, a mighty world controlling and world-renewing system of testimonies and acts of God. Organism is the appropriate apparatus to describe the unity-in-diversity of the external (ad extra) work of the triune God and it serves as an agent of unity in Bavinck's theology. He has formulated a unified and organic Reformed doctrine of revelation that is founded on his Trinitarian vision and has presented it as the key concept of Christian worldview.KEYWORDS: Trinity; Herman Bavinck; revelation; organic; unity-indiversity; worldview; ad intra; ad extra.

Kebenaran Naratif muncul di tengah tantangan ateisme rasionalistik abad modern, yang menantang rasionalitas iman Kristen, seperti ke-absahan otoritas Alkitab, kesejarahan Kristus dan lainnya. Tantangan tersebut ditanggapi oleh dua arus besar pemikiran Kristen modern: liberalisme dan fundamentalisme. Meksipun dua arus ini sangat bertolak belakang, keduanya ternyata didasari oleh landasan yang sama dengan landasan pemikiran ateisme modern, yaitu foundationalismCartesian yang bersifat dualisme dan rasionalistik. Landasan inilah yang mempengaruhi para pemikir Kristen modern dalam berteologi, yang berakibat tergesernya makna dari teks Alkitab secara mendasar. Ditengah konteks inilah para teolog post-liberal menawarkan pendekatan yang lain, yaitu kebenaran narasi. Akan tetapi seiring meningkatnya popularitas pemikiran postmodernisme yang juga menekankan pendekatan narasi, maka semakin berkembang pula penolakan terhadap kebenaran narasi oleh para pemikir Kristen modern, dimana penolakan ini memiliki masalah yang sangat serius. Karena itu tulisan ini mencoba membahas masalah dari penolakan tersebut dan mengangkat kontribusi penting dari kebenaran narasi dalam menyaksikan iman Kristen.
