Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the effect of organizational resilience variables on the firm’s survival rate and the moderating role of environmental turbulence variables in the relations of organizational resilience and firm survival.Method – This study uses simple regression to test research hypotheses. Primary data in the form of questionnaires are obtained from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Java.Result – The analysis shows that organizational resilience variables can improve the firm’s survival. However, this study did not find the moderating role of environmental turbulence in influencing the relationship between organizational resilience variables and firm survival.Implication – This study can help scholars and practitioners to understand more of the mechanism of organizational resilience and its impact on survival on smaller firms.Originality – This study offer the empirical study of firm survival on small-medium enterprise setting in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to understand the role of Public Relations Management in activities Hospital Social Responsibility (HSR) to improve image of Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital. This study is also designed to understand the ability of Hospital Social Responsibility (HSR) in bringing benefits to the hospital Islam Sunan Kudus.Method – Primary data were obtained directly from observations and interviews with the Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital, in this case the Public Relations Management and the community involved in HSR activities. The data analysis technique used several analyzes, namely descriptive, sociological, hostoris, and data validity.Result – The role of Public Relations in HSR activities can improve image of the Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital, this is proven with the HSR activities carried out by RSI Sunan Kudus followed by all levels of society in the city Kudus so that through the HSR activity the name RSI Sunan Kudus is known to the wider community and ultimately society who is in the Kudus city to entrust his health to Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital.Implication – This study can motivate other hospitals to implement HSR (Hospital Social Responsibility), so that a mutual symbiotic relationship can be created between the hospital and the community.Originality – In other studies only discussing CSR in general, there are no findings regarding HSR, and there is no CSR or HSR aspect in it Islamic perspective, apart from that there are no other benefits seen due to the existence of CSR in the hospital

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of work motivation on performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable.Method – The population in this study were all employees at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Walisongo Semarang with a total sample of 58 respondents. The analysis in this study uses path analysis technique.Result – The results showed that work motivation had a significant effect on job satisfaction, work motivation had a significant effect on performance and job satisfaction variables had a significant effect on performance. The results of the path analysis conducted showed that work motivation had a direct effect on employee performance, while work motivation had an indirect effect on performance through intervening work.Implication – This study assists the management of higher education to create working design for a better performance.Originality – This study enriches the empirical study of job performance in higher education context in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to analyze differences in financial performance before and after the tax amnesty was applied until the third period.Method – This research uses a comparative method with a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used the documentation method. The research data were in the form of annual reports and financial reports of issuers of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The results showed the financial performance before and after the tax amnesty up to the third period in the property and real estate sub-sector companies.Result – The result shows a significant difference between before and after the tax amnesty until the third period. However, there is no significant difference between Debt to Equity Ratio and Return on Equity before and after the tax amnesty until the third period. The analysis results up to the third period regarding company value shows that there are differences in company value before and after the tax amnesty up to the third period.Implication – The study offers alternative perspective about tax amnesty. Most of the time companies are reluctant to engage with tax payment.By applying tax amnesty, both ruling government and companies are both be benefited. Originality – This study is among few studies about the impact of tax amnesty on financial performance in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to compare the performance of Islamic banking before and after the Islamic defense action. The action to defend Islam is a manifestation of populism, which resulted in mixed responses.Method – Financial performance consisting of return on assets (ROA), financing to deposit ratio (FDR), third party funds (DPK), non performing financing (NPF) and profit sharing financing on total financing were analyzed from 30 Islamic commercial banks and Sharia business units in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using different test paired sample T-test.Result – The results show that only TPF and FDR have significant differences. The DPK value increases, while the FDR decreases.Implication – This study can support industry to consider aspects needed to be taken care of during political events.Originality – This study enriches the empirical study of political and business interaction.

Abstract

Purpose – Banking is one of the hearts of the economy in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the financial condition of banking in Indonesia.Method – The data in this study uses financial reports of bank. The technique of data analysis uses the Altman Z-Score model. By using five variables that represent the liquidity ratio X1, X2 and X3 profitability, X4 and X5 activities. With the criteria of assessment Z-Score 2.99, it is categorized as a very healthy company. 1.81 Z-Score 2.99 is in the gray area so that the probability of being saved and the possibility of bankruptcy is the same depending on the policy decision of the company management as the decision maker. Z-Score 1.81 is categorized as a company which has an enormous financial problem at high risk, so that the possibility of bankruptcy is very largeResult – As the result, it can be seen that Indonesian banks from 2008-2010 were at risk of going through financial difficulties and then survived and in the following years became more stable, while some banks were in unstable but survived and fixed their financial issues.Implication – This research can help Indonesian banks to evaluate their financial performanceOriginality – The originality of this research lies in the object under study, test analysis, and research location.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and financial efficacy on financial management.Method – Using mixed methods, namely quantitative and qualitative, this study managed to collect a sample of 307 respondents.Result – This research provides evidence that the level of a person's financial knowledge can affect his financial management as well as his financial satisfaction, with these results directly this research strengthens the evidence that gender does not affect financial management. it's the habits or behaviors that lead someone to act.Implication – This research can be used to understand behavioral financial management in individual level.Originality – Many studies show that a society with good financial literacy will have an impact on the formation of a financially independent society. However, the problem here is that there is still discrimination against women regarding financial management. Basically, whether or not they are able to manage finances is not based on gender but on the behavior of the individual. To strengthen this, research is present to prove that individual behavior which includes the level of financial knowledge and financial satisfaction affects their financial management.
