Abstract

This study preserves and analyzes the typology of the collective memory of the elders, regarding Bung Karno's events and thoughts. This study uses a qualitative approach of collective memory study from Maurice Halbwachs and memory typology from Abidin Kusno. The population of this study is elders who are in Blitar with the criteria of having met and seen Bung Karno directly. The selection of informants also used a snowball sampling technique, based on key informants who had been determined by the boundaries of the elders in Blitar. The results of this study found 4 (four) treatments for this typology of collective memory, such as (1) overcoming memory, (2) unexploring memory, (3) conquering memory and, (4) marketing memory. Based on the memory typology, the researcher obtained 4 (four) concepts that can be analyzed. The first is collective memory that forms the city identity. The second is Bung Karno's thoughts on unity, and Trisakti. The third is De-Sukarnoization which means the efforts to eliminate Bung Karno's influence and thoughts as well as to obscure Bung Karno's role and contribution in history. The last is the Bung Karno Library's efforts to become a center of excellence, which is creating a database on the collective memory of elders about Bung Karno. The conclusion is that the recording and study of the collective memory of the elders completes the information needs of the community regarding oral and written sources spread throughout the Blitar community about Bung Karno.

Abstract

Research on interactive service applications in libraries is still mostly about the use of various applications, application development, and evaluation of service applications in libraries. Utilization of service applications places more emphasis on the technology used, including assessing technical opportunities and obstacles. No research has been found that specifically discusses the preparation and management of interactive applications in libraries. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the application of interactive service applications that are mostly carried out in libraries and to open opportunities to obtain other views on the implementation of interactive service applications in libraries. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach. From 20 articles, three major issues are found. They are the use of library service applications, a total of twelve articles; library service application development is found in 5 articles; and evaluation of library service applications in 3 articles. Conclusion from this research is that another view is needed in the implementation of interactive service applications in the library.

Abstract

The Library of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing (FK-KMK) Gadjah Mada University is facing a changing user. Users are familiar with information technology with digital content, thus influencing their habits and behavior in using library facilities with laptops or smartphones. Users need adequate and comfortable facilities to work. Recognizing a shift in the habits and behavior of library users, FK-KMK seeks to develop library facilities with a Coworking Space approach. The formulation of the problem is how to implement Coworking Space in the development of FK-KMK UGM Library facilities. The purpose of the study was to determine the implementation of Coworking Space in the development of the FK-KMK UGM Library facilities. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach, while the research variable is the implementation of Coworking Space for the development of FK-KMK Library facilities. The results showed that the implementation of Coworking Space for the development of library facilities is done by: changing the layout of the 1st floor, namely book collection shelves, tables, chairs and circulation services; painting the pillars on the 1st floor in bright colors; adding a reading space in the front porch of the FK-KMK Library; providing facilities for users in order to feel comfortable when learning or discussing in the library. The recommendation in this research is that Coworking Space encourage users to be comfortable when using the library facilities of FK-KMK UGM, so that maintenance and cleanliness are always carried out.

Abstract

The Library of Center for Utilization of Informatics and Nuclear Strategic Areas- National Nuclear Energy Agency (PPIKSN-BATAN) evaluates the library through a user satisfaction survey which is given directly to visitors who come physically to the library. This study aims to measure the user satisfaction index of the PPIKSN-BATAN library services. The method used is aquantitative research using the questionnaire. The research subjects were 60 people who had filled out a questionnaire on the aspects reviewed to determine user satisfaction with 9 service elements indicators. The results on the services quality got very good service quality with an IKM value of 3.48 (A) and a conversion value of 86.88. The elements of Complaint Handling, as well as Suggestions and Inputs, are the elements of the highest service value with a conversion value of 95.42 and an average IKM element of 3.82 (A) with very good service quality. Meanwhile, the element with the lowest index value is the element of Service Requirements Conformity with a conversion value of 80.83 and the average IKM element is 3.23 (B), but the service quality is still in the good category. User satisfaction with the service received gets an average IKM of 3.21 and a conversion value of 80.34 with good service quality. Overall, the service performance of the Library of PPIKSN-BATAN received a very good service quality score and user satisfaction with the information provided received a good response.

Abstract

Library of Research Center of Biotechnology Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PPPB-LIPI) has been existing for 34 years. The collection development and improve progress in biotechnology science that has been growing rapidly, it is must a library to keep up transformation with this development in this age. The fact, the library’s out of date printed collection still exist. Because of that, it is necessary to review subject and physical library collection. This analysis’s aims to make a data for library collection weeding policy to know what type, subject and year of a library collection that is going to weed, library collection that is needed in the future and as tools collection development for furthermore, library collection development policy hereafter. This analysis uses survey method. Data collection is done which disseminates questionnaire to the researcher and literature study. The result shows that 40% of the printed collections are maintained with the textbook criteria of 55.9%. PPPB-LIPI is suggested to prioritize audio visual collections to 86.4%, the type of audio-visual acquisition is 39% computer files, 39% online information on the internet. Based on the publication’s year, 54.2% of the library collections weeding list are those over the past 15 years, fields outside of biotechnology that defended are chemistry at 64.2%. This research produces data to formulate collection weeding policies, namely the types of printed collections that is weeded immediately are journals, the subjects of the collections that defended are chemistry, pharmacy, animal husbandry, plants.

Abstract

The village library as a provider of reading material facilities closest to the community is very important, but its existence has not received serious attention. Therefore the National Library of Indonesia has a Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation program which will provide a new understanding of the existence of village libraries, so that they are better known by the community and can be used properly. For this reason, it is necessary to design a village library information system so that the existence of the library is well organized in accordance with the standards set by the National Library of Indonesia. The analytical method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, this article provides an overview of the current condition of village libraries that still use conventional library concepts and an overview of library information designs that run social inclusion-based library programs. Social inclusion-based village libraries do not provide loan services and help books, but also provide ICT-based community activities. From the research, it can be concluded that: 1.) the rural library information system design is important to be developed, so that the library is able to fulfill people’s need; 2.) the rural library information system design is important to be developed to be able to give enough facilities for the variations of people empowerment using the library collections; 3.) the implementation of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in the library is more directed in the promotion and documentation activities to promote the literation development and library activities.

Abstract

Research purposes are to identify, analyze and describe the influence of libraries on the Student Center Learning based learning system at Hasanuddin University. This research is quantitative. The research samples students and lecturers of Hasanuddin University who took advantage of all library services. Respondents were determined using the accidental sampling method, namely whoever comes to use the library when the researcher is doing research and 50 samples from various study programs. Data collection by distributing questionnaires and documentation. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to prove the influence of the library on the student center learning system at Hasanuddin University. This study found that only the library service variable had a positive effect on the student center learning system at Hasanuddin University. The role of university library services in the learning system is very important because through this service students and lecturers can interact either directly or indirectly to obtain various types of information to support the learning process. However, the components of collections and information technology based on the research results have no effect. Library collections in universities are very important and must be considered. A Good collection is a collection that is complete, adequate, relevant, and updated. Information technology is important because information technology is a medium for library management activities and automatic dissemination of information. The use of technology can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of library management activities and further provide convenience and efficiency for users to find information sources.
