Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the influence of scarification and giberellin to sugar palm seed (Arenga pinnata (Wurmb.) Meer) germination. The experiment was conducted from june to November 2006. This researsh used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with two factors that are scarification and concentration of giberellin. The parameters of this research were germination age (day), germination percentage (%) and seedling height (cm). The result of this research showed the interaction between scarification treatment and sugar palm seed soaking in 50 ppm giberellin resulted in better sugar palm seedling growth compared to other combination. Scarification treatment can improve germination of sugar palm seed and giberellin soaking with 50 ppm consentration represented the treatment with the highest growth.

Abstract

The effect different drying temperatures (75, 80, 85 and 90ºC) and drying times (12, 13, 14 dan 15 hours) on the production of dried sweetened belimbing wuluh was evaluated. Data obtained by thzndicate that different drying temperature and drying time significantly affected the water content and solid total, however no effect of these compounds on sucrose content. Combination of 90ºCof drying temperature and 14 hours of drying time exhibited the lowest water content and highest solid total that met the SNI dried sweetened.

Abstract

The research aimed to look at the impact of interaction between growth medium and fertilizer concentration to the growth and development of the Japanese cucumber (Cucumis sativus). This research was factorial experiment which used Completely Randomized Design. The treatments were: growth medium (M1= sand, M2= hull of rice charcoal, M3= mixed of sand and hull of rice charcoal) and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer “Super Bionic”(P1= 1 cc/1 water, P2= 2 cc/1 water, P3=3 cc/1 water).Parameters observed were plant height, harvest age, fruit number per plant and fruit weight per plant. This research concluded that interaction between mixed growth medium (rice hull and sand) and 3 cc/1 water super bonic concentration indicated better growth and development of plant, and resulted in higher production of Japanese cucumber.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the influence of interaction between primary factors of trichoderma sp and dregs to N, P, K absorption in oil palm seedling at peat medium in pre nursery. It is conducted from September 2006 to februari 2007. The parameters of this research were N, P, K content of soil peat; N, P, K absorption of plant, shoot dry weight and root dry weight. The sesult indicated that the treatment of trichoderma sp and dregs increased N, P, K availability in peat medium and N, P, K absorption of palm seedling.

Abstract

The purpose of research was to know the influence of organic manure and KCl to the growth and suitable/recommended dosage for the manure combination. This research was executed by factorial experiment (Randomized Complete Block Design) with two factors and three replications. The parameters controlled were height of plant, amount of corm, wet weight and dry weight. The result explained that interaction between organic manure and KCl significantly influenced amount of corm, wet weight and dry weight, but did not significantly influenced the plant height. Organic manure and 250 kg/ha KCl was the best treatment for all parameters.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the fungi at pineapple rizoshere and indication of its antagonism to Thielaviopsis paradoxa. It was conducted at laboratory from April to Juli 2006 and sampling method was purposive sampling. The parameters of this research were identification of the rizophere fungi and the ability of rizophere fungi ti inhibit the growth of Thielaviopsis paradoxa. The reasult of this research can be summarized that the pineapple rizosphere fungi identified were: 1). Bispora Sp, 2). Trichocladium Sp, 3). Trichoderma harzianicum, 4). Trichoderma longibrachiatum. Bispora Sp. and Trichocladium Sp. Do not have the ability to inhibit the growth of Thielaviopsis paradoxa, while Trichoderma harzianicum and Trichoderma longibrachiatum have the ability y to inhibit the growth of Thielaviopsis paradoxa.

Abstract

Peat soil is potential for growing shallot but there is some constraints to produce good yields. This research aimed to know effect of CMA and Cu on the growth and production of shallot. This research was conducted in field laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang, Kampar. The treatments were arranged in a factorial 3x4 in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. CMA (0,10 and 20 gram.plant-1) was the first factor and Cu (0,5,10 and 15 kg.ha-1 provided the highest result.

Abstract

Investigation study of adoption level was evaluated from activities to increase product and quality of snake fruit plant conducted by BPTP Riau until 1998. These activities were evaluatedin April to September 2005. The aim of the evaluation was to obtain data on adoption level of recommended technology, and impacts of recommended technology on productivity and farmer income. During evaluation, some information such as farmer income was collected by survey method. Result indicated that score from evaluation of activities to increase product and quality of snake fruit plant averaged 2,04 which was moderate for cooperator farmer, while score for non cooperator farmer, while score for non cooperator farmer averaged 1,69.
