Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect ofmedium comparison (Topsoil : Effluent) and get the best dose giving NPK fertilizer on oil palm seedling at main nursery. This research was conducted at the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau on April 2015 until July 2015. This research was arranged on using Completely Rendomized Design (CDR) with two factorial: Factor 1;medium comparison , E0 (10kgTopsoil : 0 kg Effluent), E1 (9 kg Topsoil : 1 kg Effluent), E2 (8 kg Topsoil : 2 kg Effluent), E3 (7 kg Topsoil : 3 kg Effluent), E4 (6 kg Topsoil : 4 kg Effluent). Factor II; N0 (NPK 5 g/polybag), N1( NPK 10 g/polybag), N2 (NPK 15 g/polybag) and replicated 3 times, so abtained 45 unit experiment. Parameter observed were the accretion of plant heigh, accretion of stump diameter, accretion of leaves number, root shoot ratio and dry weight. The result showed that medium comparison(Topsoil : Effluent) and giving NPK fertilizer interaction effect on accretion of leaves number, but not significantly on accretion of plant heigh, accretionof stump diameter, root shoot ratio and dry weight. The best result shows on 6 kg Topsoil : 4 kg Effluent and NPK 15 g /polybag.Effluent treatment on oil palm seedling effect to all parameters, whereas on the NPK giving effect to all parameters except the accretionof stump diameter and root shoot ratio. Abstract

The objectives of this research to evaluate potential yield of 8 genotypes of chili which grown on peatland. This research conducted for 6 months from January to June 2013 in peatland experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang, Kampar. Randomized block design which is consist of 8 treatment and 3 replications was used in this experiment. Variable those observed were flowering date, plant height, stem diameter, dichotomus height, canopy width, harvesting date, weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter and weight of fruit per plant. Data obtained from the observations were statistically analyzed by using analysis of variance, and mean separation by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level 5%. The results showed that genotypes of chili had good adaptability and yield. Genotype IPB C19 has a higher fruit weight per plant is higher than Gada. Genotype IPB C111 did not significantly different compare to TM999 on fruit weight per plant.   Keyword : yield evaluation, chili, peatland

Abstract

This research aims to identify the type and amount of soil macrofauna, calculate the population density (K) and the relative density (KR) of soil macrofauna with different water level on peat lands under oil palm stands. This research was carried out by observation, sampling for soil macrofauna data was determined by purposive random sampling method which selected the location in accordance with the purpose of research. The samples of the soil were taken in the circle, live path and die path of oil palm with the total area ​​1 m x 1 m in the soil depth until 15 cm which were repeated 3 times to obtain 18 samples. The data of research were calculated and presented on table, then these data were analyzed by descriptive statistic. These results indicated that the type and amount of soil macrofauna on the circle, live path and die path of oil palm in water level of       43 cm were higher than at 60 cm below in the water soil. The population density (K) and the relative density (KR) of soil macrofauna on the circle, live path and die path oil plam at the water level 43 cm below the soil surface had various types and higher amount than at the level 60 cm. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine as well as to get the best treatment on the growth of the cocoa plant. The research was conducted in August until November 2014 at the experimental garden of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya road 12.5 km Simpang Baru , Tampan, Pekanbaru.      This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and three repetition. The first factor is bokashi (B) consisting of 4 levels,                    were: 0 g / polybag (B0), 50 g / polybag (B1), 75 g / polybag (B2), 100 g / polybag (B3) and the second factor is Urine (U) which Consist 4 levels, were: 0 ml / L of water (U0), 300 ml / L of water (U1), 400 ml / L of water (U2) and 500 ml / L of water (U3). Parameters measured were: seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, stem circumference, seedling dry weight, and root crown ratio. Research results show that the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine with the dose of 75 g / polybag and        400 ml / L of water, is the best dose to increase seedling height, leaf area, dry weight and root crown ratio. Bokashi fertilizer with 75 g / polybag is the best dose for increasing seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, girth and dry weight. Cow urine application at the dose of 400 ml / L of water is the best dose for enhancing seedling height, leaf area and dry weight.   keyword: Cacao seedling, bokashi fertilizer, cow urine

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the response of the growth of oil palm seedlings and how much nitrogen can reserve by oil palm seedlings on different organic fertilizer sources with some planting medium. This research has done in experimental plantation Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from October until December 2012. This research used completely randomized factorial design with two treatment factors and three replications. The first factor was source of residue effect of different organic fertilizer include P0: without fertilizer, P1: bird’s manure, P2: Sludge fertilizer, P3: liquid organic fertilizer. The second factor was plant medium as T1: PMK soil, T2: Peat soil, T3: the combination of PMK soil and Peat Soil 50:50. The result showed that the best treatment was of residue effect of liquid organic fertilizer in PMK and Peat soil medium because its can be inclined grow up plant height, stump diameter, amount of leaves, root volume, seedling dry weight and the reserve of nitrogen. Treatment of plant medium was not significant for all parameters. Interaction between the two treatments significantly effect plant height, seedling dry weight and the reserve of nitrogen, but non significantly for amount of leaves, stump diameter and root volume. Abstract

Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation commodity which plays important role in economics of Indonesia. Palm oil can grow at various ground type by paying attention to the soil characteristics including soil biology. Soil biology like existence of soil macrofauna depend on availibility of energy such as organic matter and decomposed it, so that can maintain the soil productivity. This research aims to determine the effect of organic matters and to determine the better of organic matters for soil macrofauna and palm oil growth. This research has been conducted at the experimental farm of Agricultural Faculty Riau University on May to August 2015. This research was carried out experimentally by using randomized block design (RBD) with 4 treatments (without organic matter, palm oil empty fruit bunch, sawdust and congongrass of 10 kg/plant) and 6 replications, so there are 24 experimental units.The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and followed by further test DNMRT at 5% level. The result showed that the application of 10 kg/plant sawdustgave the best for number of individu, number of type and population densityof soil macrofauna. The application of 10 kg/plant palm oil empty fruit bunch showed the best results for increasing of plant height, increasing number of fronds, increasing of fronds length and increasing of leaves. Organic matter which showed the best result for soil macrofauna was not show the best results for oil palm growth.   Keywords : organic matters, soil macrofauna, palm oil

Abstract

Plant oil palm is the dominant plantation crops cultivated in Riau. Needs of oil palm seedlings increased with the expansion of the land and replanting. This research aims to study the application compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches(OPEFB) in the growth of oil palm seedlings in the nursery main- medium ultisol subsoil. This research was conducted in the greenhouse agriculture university faculty Riau, from September to December 2013. The study was carried out experiments using a completely randomized design ( CRD ), which consists of 4 treatments each ( 0 , 20 , 30 , and 40 tons of compost of OPEFB/ha ), each repoted 4 times. The results showed that application of compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches at a dose of 30 tones/ha can increase seedling height and diameter weeviloil palm are greater than the without compost and aplication 20 tons compost of OPEFB /ha. The increase of dose compost of OPEFB to 40 tons/ha increased seedling height and weevil diameter greates. Keyword: Palm oil, Ultisols and Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the best dose interaction and liquid organic fertilizer and compost rind cocoa to the growth of oil palm seedlings in Main nursery. The research was conducted from September 2014 to January 2015. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the provision of liquid organic reeds fertilizer with 4 dose level consisting (0, 50, 75 and 100 ml / 1 liter of water. The second factor is the provision of compost rind cocoa with 4 dose level consisting (0, 50, 100 and 150 g / 8 kg soil (37.5 tons / ha). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by a further test DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters measured were high increment, in the number of leaves, tubers circumference, crown root ratio and seedling dry weight. The results showed that administration of a liquid organic fertilizer 50 ml / l and compost rind cocoa 150 g / polybag, showed increased growth of oil palm seedlings to the seedling height parameters, number of leaves, dry weight of seedlings and did not show an increase in the circumference hump and the ratio of the root crown   Keywords : oil palm, liquid organic fertilizer, compost rind cocoa

Abstract

Recently, fertilizer is considered as necessary cultural practices that could increase soybean production. So, this experiment was intended to determine the role of phosphorous fertilized on seed development and seed quality of several soybean varieties. Three varieties of soybean were grown in a plot of 3.2 by 3 m with planting density 40 x 15 cm. Ten days after planting, the plant were fertilized by mixing 53 kg Urea, 53 kg KCl and TSP as treatment applied. To obtained seed water concentration and seed dry weight, 300 flowers were randomly chosen from each plot, and 10 pods developed from the flowers were harvested every 5 days beginning from 15 days after anthesis (DAA) to 50 DAA. In addition to seed development, we observed dry matter accumulation rate, effective filling period, and seed quality at harvest. The change in seed moisture content was relatively fast from 15 DAA to about 45 DAA, then slightly slow until harvest time. Seed dry weight was very small until 20 DAA and contribute only 5 to 7% of its maximum dry weight. The linear increase in seed dry weight occurred from 20 DAA until 45 DAA, then tent to slow down before reaching physiological maturity. Application of P fertilizer increased KPBK and shortened WPE on Wilis and Gema but did not impact both traits on Gema. Grain yield of Kaba and Wilis was higher when fertilized by 25 kg P2O5 per ha, and tent to decline if fertilized by 50 kg P2O5 per ha.   Key Words : seed water content, seed dry weight, P fertilizer, seed development

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of compost of oil palm bunches and determine the best dose for the growth of the mustard plant on Inceptisol. This reseacrch was conducted at The Agricultural Experiment Station ofFaculty agriculture, University of Riau, on February to April 2013. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 5 treatments, including 0. 0,5, 1, 1,5, and 2 kg of compost of oil palm bunches and 6 replications. The observation parameters in this research are including plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, fresh weight of plant consumption, and the analysis of chemical properties of soil as supporting data consists of a C-organic, CEC, pH and N-total. The results showed that the application of compost in some doses show the real difference on all the parameters, namely plant height, leaf number, leaf area, root volume and fresh weight of plant consumption. The application of compost with a dose of 1,5 kg/plot to 2 kg/plot shows the growth and production of the best. Keywords       : Inceptisol, Mustard, Compost, Oil Palm Bunches
