Abstract

The purpose of this research to get the receptable of long composting palm empty fruit bunches as mixed of media to support the growth and development of oil palm seedlings. This research was experiment and used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments with 6 replications, so there are 18 experimental units. Each unit consists of two plants. The treatment were:                 A1 = Composting two weeks, A2 = Composting four weeks, and A3 = Composting six weeks. The result of this research shown that the use of compost empaty fruit bunches with long composting influential to the seedling height and hump diameter, during composting 2, 4, and 6 weeks show indicates the number of leaf midrib, long of leaf, crown root ratio, dry weight of seedlings but during the six weeks long composting show higer vielt to get better growth and development of oil palm seedlings can use empaty fruit bunches.   Keywords: long composting, palm empty fruit bunches, oil palm seedlings.

Abstract

This research aim is to know the influence and get a glycine concentration on vacin and went (VW) medium that giving the best growth of Dendrobium orchid plantlet by in vitro. This research was conducted in Plant Biotechnological Laboratory of Farm Faculty, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from March till June 2014. This research is an experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which arranged in six levels and three repetitions. The treatment is giving a several glycine concentration started with without glycine, 1 mg glycine/l, 2 mg glycine/l, 3 mg glycine/l, 4 mg glycine/l and 5 mg glycine/l. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The result showed that giving a several glycine concentration was not significant for all parameters, but giving glycine with concentration 4 mg/l showed the best result to the height of plant, leaf amount, root amount and visual view of the Dendrobium orchid plantlet.   Keyword: Dendrobium, Orchid Plantlet, Glycine

Abstract

This study aim to get the best combination of fertilizer and various of Pineapple  (Ananas comosus (L) Merr)between Immature Palm Oil Plantation. Studied lasted from July to October 2013 at the Experimental land Rimbo Panjang, University of Riau. The material used are sucker and slip, varieties Queen and NPK Mutiara fertilizer (16-16-16). The study arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) first factor is NPK fertilizer dose treatment, second factor are sources of shoots T1 (sucker) andT2 (slip). Parameter observed is quantitative parameters consist by added height of      plant (cm), added leaves length of plant (cm), added leavesamount of plant (sheet), added leaveswidthof plant (cm) and leaves vastof plant (cm2). Data were analyzed using theF test and test of Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) 5% level.The results shows that a combination giving NPK fertilizer and sources shoots treatment significantly affected to all parameters. Aplication NPK fertilizer 10 g/plant with a source of sucker is the best combination for growing pineapple on peat land. Keywords: Pineapple, source of bud, dose of fertilizer

Abstract

Sansevieria is a horticultural plant species origin from Africa, Arab and Indonesia. Sansevieria has economic value and good prospects. These opportunities should must be balanced with plant propagation. Propagation by cuttings of plants with growth regulators to support growth. The research  aims is to know the effect of NAA, BA and both combination that supports the growth of Sansevieria aubrytiana cuttings. This research was conducted in the Screen House, Plant Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from September 2013 to March 2014. This research was conducted experimentally completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, with 3 replications. Data were analyzed of variance followed by Duncan's new multiple range test level of 5%. Parameters observed were percentage of live cuttings, rooted cuttings percentage, the percentage of cuttings formed tillers and number of tiller. The results showed no effect of growth regulators on the success of cuttings and seedlings growth of Sansevieria aubrytiana. Keywords: Sansevieria, Cuttings, PGR.

Abstract

The research aims to determine effect of tricho compos made from corn waste combined with urea on the growth and production of kailan (Brassica oleracea var. alboglabra). This research was conducted on April 2015 until May 2015 in the experimental garden in Agriculture faculty of University of Riau, Panam, Pekanbaru. Research was conducted experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial. Each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 plants and five plants was taken as a sample plants. The first factor consists of 3 levels, were: tricho compos 1 kg/plot, tricho compos 2 kg/plot and tricho compos 3 kg/plot. The second factor is Urea fertilizer consists of 4 levels, were: 0 g/plot, 5 g/plot, 7,5 g/plot and 10 g/plot. Oberserved parameters were the plant height, leafes number, and fresh plant weight. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and further tested using Duncan`s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results shows giving tricho compos of corn waste and urea influenced on the plant height and fresh plant weight. Giving tricho compos of corn waste with dose of   2 kg/plot and urea 5 g/plot is the best dose in enhancing growth and production of kailan   Keywords: trichokompos, kailan, urea

Abstract

The research aims to look at the giving of various dose combinations Palm Empty Fruit Bunch compost (PEFB) and spacing on the growth and yield of edamame soybean and to get the best treatment combination between compost PEFB and planting distance of the growth and production of edamame soybean. Research conducted in the experimental field Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau. Research period on June until August 2014. Experiments with 4 x 3 factorial using a randomized block design (RBD). The first factor is composting palm empty fruit bunch consisting of 4 levels (5, 10, 15 and 20 ton / ha). The second factor is planting distance consists of 3 levels (10 × 20, 15 × 20 and 20 × 20 cm), combination is repeated three times respectively. The efect of each treatment combination known through Duncan multiple test 5% level. Parameters measured were leaf area, root nodule effective, flowering time, the percentage of pods pithy, pithy number of pods per plant and yield per plot. The results showed that the combination of composting palm empty fruit bunch with planting distance effect on the effective root nodules, number of pods pithy planting, production per plot but did not affect the leaf area, flowering time, the percentage of pods pithy. The highest production was found in compost treatment of palm empty fruit bunches of 20 ton / ha and distance of (15 × 20) cm with a production that is 1717.2 g / plot.   Keyword : edamame soybeans, composting palm empty fruit bunch, spacing on

Abstract

This study aims to determine theinteraction effect ofrice husk charcoal and rice straw trichocompost and get the best dosage combination for growth and yield of sweet corn in peatlands. This research was conducted on December 2015 until March 2016. This research used a factorial Randomized Block Design with          3 replications.The first factor was rice husk charcoal (0, 3, 6 kg/plot), and the second factor was rice straw trichocompost (0, 3, 6, 9 kg/plot). Data were analyzed using anova and Duncan's multiple range test at the 5 % level. The results showed that the addition of rice husk charcoal and rice straw trichocompost influenced the growth and production of sweet corn. Rice husk charcoal 3 ̶ 6 kg/plot(5 ̶ 10 ton/ha) and trichocompost of rice straw 9 kg/plot (15 ton/ha) were the best dosage to the growth and yield of sweet corn in peatlands. Keywords: Sweet Corn, Peat, Rice Husk Charcoal, Rice Straw Trichocompost

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of  growing media mixture of peat and Red Yellow Podzolic (RYP) and to get best growing media to palm oil growth seedlings (Elaeis guinensis Jacq) in the main nursery. This research conducted on March to July 2016. This study was  an experiment using of  completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 7 treatments with 4 replications. The treatments were growing media comparison of peat and red yellow podzolic such as  1: 0 (T1), 0:1 (T2), 1:1 (T3), 2:1 (T4), 1:2 (T5), 1:3 (T6), 3:1 (T7), Parameters measured were increase of height plant, the number of leaves, diameter of hump, and broad leaves. Observation of data were analized statistically with ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test level of 5%. The results showed that growing media mixture of peat and red-yellow podzolic influence to palm oil growth in main nursery. Growing media mixture of peat and red yellow podzolic 3:1 (T7) significantly increase of hump diameter and broad leaves of palm oil seedling. Keywords: Peat soil, mineral soil, Elaeis guineensis jacq

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of combination of vermicompost and dosage of NPK fertilizer to growth and production of watermelon plants and to get the best treatment. This research conducted in Experimental Garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, August to October 2017. This research was conducted experimentally using Randomized Complete Design consists of two factors. Factor 1 is vermicompost, consisting of K0: no vermicompost, K1: 4    t.ha-1, K2: 5 t.ha-1 and K3: 6 t.ha-1. Factor 2 is NPK fertilizer, consisting of N1: 87,5 kg.ha-1, N2: 175 kg.ha-1 and N3: 262,5 kg.ha-1. Data obtained were analyzed statistically and continued with Duncan multiple-range test at 5% level. The parameters observed were number of leaf, plant length, stem diameter, flowering age, fruit diameter, fruit weight and sugar content. The results showed that in general the combination without the application of vermicompost and NPK 87.5 kg.ha-1 has supported the growth and production of watermelon plants.Keywords: Watermelon, vermicompost, NPK fertilizer.

Abstract

Rubert plant was one of important pantation comodity as second source of forign exchange after palm oil. This study aims to determine the interaction of young coconut water and red onion extract in accelerating the breakdown of stum buds in the sleeping eye of rubber plants and their growth.   This research was conducted in the experiement garden of faculty of agriculture of Riau University. This study was a factorial experiement using a completely randomized design, which consists of two factors, such as first factor is the concentration of young coconut water consisting of 0%, 25%, 50% and 75%, while the second factor is the concentration of shallot extract consisting of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%.  Parameters observed were shoot growth time, shoot length, shoot diameter, number of leaves, shoot dry weight. Giving the concentration of 75% young coconut water and 2% shallot extract gave the best results on the growth of shoot length, number of leavers, bud diameter and ory weight of shoots from the stum rubber sleeping eyes.Giving 75% of young coconut water (containing cytokinin) and 2% onion extract (containing auxin) increases shoot length by 44.17 cm compared to without treatment of 10.33 cm Keywords:young coconut water,red onion extract,rubber sleeping eye stump
