Abstract

Rodent pest is known for its detrimental impact on agriculture where it is responsible for for more than 10% of crop loss across worldwide. Although a number of conventional rodent-control methods such as electric current, fumigation, trapping and rodenticide are applied, however there are growing concerns related to their effectiveness and safety concerns. Joint Operating Body Pertamina – Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi (JOB Tomori) initiated community development program to address this issue by utilizing Sulawesi Masked Owl as agricultural rodent control. Starting from 2017, at approximately 84 artificial nest boxes and 175 perch pillars were installed in paddy fields located in 3 subdistrict in Banggai, Central Sulawesi. Here we present a novel approach of using QCDSME strategy in the context of the community empowerement program. The advantages, limitations, lesson learned and further recommendation of the QCDSME approach are also discussed in this paper.

Abstract

This paper seeks to explain the community empowerment program carried out by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga DPPU Ngurah Rai as a commitment in implementing CSR. The community empowerment CSR program is called Eco-Religion Waste Management System Kedonganan Ngardi Resik. The background of the development of this program, namely: the preservation of customs and culture of the community in Kedonganan Traditional Village Bali. The community there conducts prayer activities through canang facilities made of “janur” as an expression of gratitude to Him. After the worship is over, the canang is forced to become a residue that is disposed of in the landfill because the community is not used to sorting waste from the smallest scale. This community empowerment program was developed through the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) model in responding to environmental crises carried out with the Kedonganan Traditional Village Bali community by mainstreaming religious, social, and cultural communities to create an integrated waste management system. This program has succeeded in creating a disciplined community in sorting waste from the household level and processing waste into compost and bio charcoal briquettes that are reused by the community. This program also contributes to reducing environmental impact of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Abstract

The SEHATI program is a PT Polytama Propindo CSR program that aims to create environmental care values for elementary school students and teachers. The preparation of this program follows up on data on waste generation from several elementary schools in ring 1 of PT Polytama Propindo. Based on data collection on waste generation that has been carried out by the company, there were 898.85 kg of waste recorded in August 2019 and an increase to 967.92 kg in September. Responding to these problems, PT Polytama Propindo organized the SEHATI Program (Sekolah Hijau, Sehat, dan Bersih) as a solution to the problem of waste generation in the school area. Program implementation applies the principle of stimulus-organism response (SOR). This form of application was when PT Polytama Propindo, in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Wiralodra, provided stimulus to nine elementary schools in the ring 1 area and three schools in the development ring, resulting in a response in the form of a change in behavior that became environmentally concerned.

Abstract

The National Waste Management Information System data stated that in 2022, households ranked first as waste and garbage producers with a percentage reaching 43.3%. The issue of household waste management also occurs in Kismoyoso Village. Therefore, community engagement activities through KKN UNS Village Development include conducting socialization and workshops on household waste management through eco enzyme production. The objective of this activity is to raise awareness and encourage the residents of Kismoyoso Village to utilize household waste as something of value and economic worth. The production of eco enzymes is prepared using Dr. Rosukon's method, which involves mixing sugar (palm sugar/white sugar/molasses) with household waste, specifically organic waste, and water in a ratio of 1:3:10. The eco enzyme solution is then left to undergo a 90-day fermentation process.
