Abstract

Community service is one of the implementations of the university’s tridharma, aimed at providing real benefits for society. Kedu Baru Village has natural resources in the form of medicinal plants (toga), which have so far been mostly used traditionally and have not been optimally managed. Based on this condition, this community service program focused on empowering the community through education and hands-on practice in processing medicinal plants into value-added creative economy products. The implementation methods included socialization, training, and mentoring for local community groups. Participants were provided with knowledge of the benefits of medicinal plants, hygienic processing techniques, and basic marketing strategies. The processed products included herbal drinks, instant herbal powders, and essential oils, which are expected to increase the economic value and competitiveness of the community. The results showed an increase in community knowledge and skills in processing toga plants, as well as the growth of entrepreneurial spirit among participants. In addition, the processed toga products offered an alternative source of income to support family economies. Thus, this activity not only contributed to improving community health through the utilization of medicinal plants but also encouraged the creation of a sustainable creative economy in Kedu Baru Village. Abstract

Bullying is a serious issue that frequently occurs in school environments, including junior high schools. This behavior can cause negative impacts on victims, both physically, psychologically, and socially. Therefore, concrete efforts are needed to prevent and address bullying through structured educational activities. The program “Stop Bullying & Harassment Education at SMP Negeri 10 Bengkulu Utara” was conducted as a form of socialization and awareness-raising among students regarding the dangers and consequences of bullying. The materials provided included an understanding of the definition of bullying, its types, contributing factors, and strategies for prevention within the school environment. In addition, the program emphasized the important role of teachers, peers, and families in creating a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly school atmosphere. Through a participatory approach, students were engaged in discussions, educational video screenings, and interactive games aimed at fostering empathy and mutual respect. The results indicated an increase in students’ understanding of the dangers of bullying, along with a growing collective commitment to building a bullying-free school. It is expected that this educational initiative will help SMP Negeri 10 Bengkulu Utara become a model school in reducing bullying cases and in establishing a positive, harmonious, and supportive learning environment for holistic student development. Abstract

This community service program aims to optimize the utilization of home gardens through the development of ginger (Zingiber officinale) cultivation in Pargarutan Dolok Village, South Tapanuli Regency. The activity was implemented in response to the low productivity of village home gardens, which are generally underutilized for economic purposes. The implementation method employed a participatory approach involving local residents directly through stages of socialization, training, demonstration plot establishment, technical assistance, and program sustainability evaluation. A total of 42 families actively participated out of 60 targeted households, with a plant growth success rate of 92%. The application of liquid organic fertilizer and botanical pesticides effectively increased the number of shoots and reduced the incidence of plant diseases. The social impact showed an 85% improvement in community awareness and skills in utilizing home gardens, along with the formation of the “Jahe Sejahtera Pargarutan” group as a collaborative business platform. Economically, the potential additional household income from 50 ginger polybags reached IDR 270,000–360,000 per planting cycle. The results of this program demonstrate that optimizing home garden land through ginger cultivation can significantly enhance household welfare and food security while promoting economic independence among rural communities.
