Abstract

Some people generally perceive that wearing the niqab is closely associated with extremist and radical groups. However, every individual has the right to choose how to dress according to their personal beliefs and values. This study discusses the relationship between the identity of women wearing the niqab and the perceptions linking them to extremist and radical groups. The identity of women wearing the niqab is often associated with the views and actions of such groups. The purpose of this article is to explore the legal arguments regarding the niqab based on the four schools of Islamic thought, to analyze the cultural concepts and interpretations of the niqab across different regions of the world, and to examine the relationship between the identity of women wearing the niqab from religious, social, and cultural perspectives. This study employs a literature review method, using data collected from national and international journal articles and analyzed through the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana.  The findings reveal that the practice of wearing the niqab carries both positive and negative stereotypes. The negative stereotypes tend to portray the niqab as a marker of identity linked to extremist and radical groups. Meanwhile, several positive stereotypes are also commonly attributed to women who wear the niqab, such as piety and devotion, honor and dignity, wisdom and maturity, as well as serving as role models and sources of inspiration. It is important to understand that a person’s identity is not solely determined by their appearance or clothing. The identity of women wearing the niqab can be influenced by religion, community, and culture; however, not all women wearing the niqab are involved in extremism or radicalism. Every individual has the freedom to express their identity in a way that reflects their beliefs, as long as it does not violate the law or human values.

Abstract

This paper provided a psychoanalytic analysis of Sylvia Plath’s “Mirror”, grounded in Sigmund Freud’s theory of the three levels of the mind: conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. While other analyses covered the poem’s feminist and symbolic aspects, this research aimed to explore its psychological depth, particularly from the mirror’s perspective and its reflection of the woman’s inner conflict regarding identity and aging. With a qualitative analysis, the research explored how conscious awareness, preconscious thought, and unconscious dread shaped self-perception in both the mirror and its subject. The findings revealed key themes such as truth and objectivity, self-awareness, self-exploration, self-deception, inevitable passage of time, and hidden fears. By applying Freud’s structural model, this study advanced literary interpretation and emphasized mental health, gender empathy, and self-image. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 5 (Gender Equality). In its psychoanalytic interpretation of Mirror, the study helped deepen the understanding of literature as a reflection of the human mind, with a focus on the importance of psychological health and the complexities of female identity.

Abstract

This study examines the transformational leadership of a female principal at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang, focusing on how her leadership impacts curriculum development and institutional progress. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Findings show that her leadership aligns with four key dimensions of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. These are evident in improved teacher attendance (+30%), enhanced teacher motivation (85% satisfaction), innovative program launches, and reduced disciplinary cases (–50%). The school’s values-based SAKINAH curriculum is implemented through integrative programs such as eco-education, Qur’an-based projects, and student entrepreneurship. This leadership model significantly improves the school’s reputation, achievements, and enrollment. The study recommends structured support for women leaders, contextualized curriculum design, and broader adoption of eco-integrated programs. Future research should explore long-term impacts of female leadership and the replication of this model in other Islamic educational settings

Abstract

This study aims to improve gross motor skills in early childhood through modifications to various jumping games. Technological developments have contributed to a decline in children’s physical activity, which consequently affects their motor development. Traditional jumping games, which can enhance balance, agility, and coordination, are increasingly being replaced by digital games. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model in two cycles, involving 20 children aged 5–6 years. Modifications were made to the game by adjusting the rules and equipment to increase children's engagement. The quantitative findings show an increase in gross motor skill scores from 1.5 (Emerging stage or beginning to develop) in Cycle 1 to 3.3 (Expected Level of Development or very well developed) in Cycle 2. This improvement was significant, with all children actively participating in the activities, indicating that the game modifications had a positive and comprehensive impact on various aspects of gross motor skills. The study highlights the importance of modifying traditional games as an effective strategy to increase physical activity and support children's motor development in the digital age.

Abstract

Gender issues and the role of career women in the modern era are pressing topics, given that the average global gender gap remains high and hinders women's professional advancement. This study focuses on the dynamics in non-metropolitan areas, particularly in Kerek District, Tuban Regency, where a contradiction exists between the increase in women's workforce participation and the strength of local gender stereotypes. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis of five informants, all career women and men aged 20-30 years. The results show that men remain the primary decision-makers, while women are expected to prioritize their household roles over their careers. This situation creates a double burden because household responsibilities are not shared, even though women are working. In addition, despite having personal income, women still have very little control over decisions about allocating household resources. Overall, these findings show that gender stereotypes structurally perpetuate subordination and have a significant regressive impact on women's career advancement. This study provides new insights into how local cultural values influence women's professional opportunities

Abstract

This study explores gender equality in Islam through three main dimensions: the fundamental concepts of gender and equality, the Islamic principles of justice, and the strategic roles of women in da’wah and education. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach, this research draws on primary sources (the Qur’an and Hadith) and contemporary academic literature. Data were analyzed thematically through stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results indicate that Islam provides strong theological and social foundations for promoting equitable and contextual gender equality. Conceptually, gender is viewed as a social construct that can be reconstructed through critical awareness and justice-oriented interpretation. The principles of monotheism and justice in Islam affirm the spiritual and social equality of men and women while acknowledging their natural distinctions. In da’wah and education, women serve as educators, agents of social transformation, and active contributors in both domestic and public spheres. The study concludes that gender equality in Islam is not an adaptation of modern values but an intrinsic expression of divine justice and human dignity contained within Islamic revelation.

Abstract

This study reexamines the Qur’anic narrative of the creation, relationship, and descent to earth of Adam and Eve through a gender-just interpretive framework. Classical interpretations have often portrayed women as secondary beings or as the primary cause of humanity’s misfortune, views largely shaped by patriarchal assumptions rather than grounded in the Qur’anic text itself. Employing a literature-based qualitative approach and a thematic exegesis (tafsīr maudhu‘ī), this study examines key Qur’anic verses including Surah 4:1, 7:11–27, 20:115–122, and 39:6, by comparing traditional exegetical perspectives with contemporary gender-sensitive interpretations. The findings demonstrate that the Qur’an affirms the ontological equality of men and women through the concept of nafs wāḥidah (a single shared essence) and does not attribute exclusive responsibility for humanity’s earthly descent to Eve. This article contributes to Qur’anic gender studies by reconstructing the Adam–Eve narrative as one that emphasizes collective moral responsibility and mutuality, in accordance with the Qur’an’s broader principles of justice, reciprocity, and gender equality.
