Abstract

Purpose ̶ This study aims to revitalize the nuzūlī approach to Qur'anic exegesis by positioning the Qur'an as the central framework of Prophet Muhammad's mission while exploring Habannakah's perspective on the meaning of Qur'an 18:110 within the framework of tadabbur. Design/methods/approach ̶ Using a descriptive-analytical method. Findings ̶ This article finds two main axes. First, Habannakah's interpretation of QS. Al-Kahfi: 110 is based on three main points, namely: Muhammad's humanity, the legitimacy of his prophetic and apostolic status as well as the authenticity of divine revelation, and the warning that worldly life is only a field of trial (al-ibtila'). The first two points are closely related to the theological dimension, while the third point is in line with the Sufi doctrine that dialectically places rajā’ with khauf (fear). Second, from the perspective of the chronological arrangement of the Qur'an, Habannakah's nuzūlī interpretation only covers 87 surahs, consisting of 86 Makkiyyah groups and the rest Madaniyyah. This situation was due to his age when he wrote his interpretation. Conclusion ̶ However, this study notes a limitation, namely the fact that the historical sources used by Habannakah in compiling his chronology have not been identified with certainty. Research Implication ̶ Thus, this gap still opens up opportunities for future researchers to create continuous studies.

Abstract

Purpose ̶ This article aims to analyze the financing conditions of PTKIN and to propose a model for mainstreaming waqf as a sustainable source of educational funding. Design/methods/approach ̶ Employing a qualitative approach through literature review and policy document analysis, this study examines regulations on waqf, Islamic higher education financing policies, and existing practices of educational waqf management. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis and conceptual synthesis. Findings ̶ The findings suggest that mainstreaming waqf provides a sustainable alternative for financing PTKIN through policy integration, institutional strengthening, and productive waqf management. This approach enhances institutional financial independence while supporting the long-term development of endowment-based Islamic higher education financing. Conclusion ̶ This study proposes a mainstreaming waqf model based on three interrelated pillars: policy integration within PTKIN financing systems, strengthening professional and accountable waqf institutions, and developing productive waqf oriented toward educational endowment funds. Research Implication ̶ The study contributes to Islamic education financing discourse by positioning waqf as a strategic and sustainable institutional funding instrument.

Abstract

Purpose ̶ This study examines the educational values embedded in the Islamization of the Indonesian Archipelago and their relevance to strengthening religious moderation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Design/methods/approach ̶ This study employs a qualitative library research approach using qualitative content analysis of primary literature published between 2021 and 2026, complemented by authoritative reference books on the Islamization of the Archipelago. Findings ̶ The findings identify six dominant values embedded in the Islamization of the Archipelago: tasamuh (tolerance), tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), I’tidal (justice), persuasive da’wah, and respect for local culture. Conclusion ̶ These values are conceptually aligned with the principles of religious moderation and can be reconstructed into learning objectives, instructional materials, teaching strategies, and school culture within Islamic Religious Education. Research Implication ̶ This study contributes a conceptual reconstruction model that bridges the historical values of the Islamization of the Archipelago with contemporary Islamic Religious Education, providing a historically grounded and culturally relevant framework for strengthening religious moderation.
