Abstract

This research is experimental research which aims to find out: 1) the effect of using presentation media and comics on student biology learning outcomes; 2) the influence of high and low motivation on student biology learning outcomes; 3) the interaction between media usage and motivation towards biology learning outcomes. This study uses Factorial 2 x 2 design, using a population of 123 students consisting of 4 (four) classes held at SMAN 8 Mataram, in the academic year 2012/2013. Data analysis using two-way ANOVA with the help of SPSS 17 for Windows. The results of this study indicate that: 1) there is an influence of media use on student biology learning outcomes (p> 0.05); 2) there is no effect of high and low motivation on student biology learning outcomes (p <0.05); 3) there is no interaction between the use of media and motivation towards biology learning outcomes (p> 0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to describe the PBL process through cooperative TPS learning so that it can improve the understanding of fourth-semester students of the IKIP Mataram Mathematics Education Department on integer division. This study was a classroom action research (CAR) which was applied to 44 fourth semester students of the mathematics education study program IKIP Mataram. The instruments of data collection included lecturer and student activity sheets, tests, interview guidelines, field notes, and documentation. The criteria of success in this study are based on (1) data on observations of student activities. (2) observational data on lecturer activity, and (3) test results data. The results of the first cycle showed that (1) the observational data of student activities were in the fairly active category, (2) the results of lecturer activity observation data were in a fairly good category, and (3) the average score of student test results was less than 68. The results of the research in the second cycle showed that (1) the observational data of student activities were in the active category, (2) the observation data of lecturers' activities were in the good category, and (3) the average score of student test results was more than or equal to 68 Cycle II, all the success criteria have been achieved, so that the application of PBL through TPS cooperative learning can improve the understanding of integer division material in fourth semester students G mathematics education study program IKIP Mataram academic year 2011/2012.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of the Make A Match method on the activities, interests, and learning outcomes of class VIII students of MTs Darussalam Bermi West Lombok. The population in this study were all eighth-grade students of MTs Darussalam Bermi, while the study sample was 58 students. Class VIII C as the experimental class and class VIII D as the control class. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The research instrument used was an observation sheet to obtain data on learning activities, questionnaires for learning interest data, and tests for student learning outcomes. Based on the results of the analysis of student activity data in the control class, an average value of 71 was obtained with the active category, while the experimental class obtained an average value of 78 with a very active category. The average learning interest of students in the control class is 36.39 with a less high category, then in the experimental class, the average student interest is 45.73 with a fairly high category using the Make A Match method. Analysis of student learning outcomes data obtained an average value in the experimental class of 82.4 with the highest value of 100 and the lowest 72, while the average value of the control class was 76.1 with the highest value 88 and the lowest value 64. Based on the results of the t-test obtained t count is 17.43 and t table is 1.67, because tcount ≥ ttable, then there are differences in activities, interests, and learning outcomes using the Make A Match method in class VIII students of MTs Darussalam Bermi. Based on these results it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Make A Match method on science learning outcomes of class VIII students of MTs Darussalam Bermi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the module based on Problem Based Research (PBR) on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material. This research is a descriptive qualitative research to assess and obtain chemical modules on electrolyte solution and non-electrolyte material based on Problem Based Research (PBR). Module development in this study follows the three stages of the ADDIE model, namely, the analysis stage (Analyze), the design stage (Design), and the development stage (Development). Data obtained using questionnaires. The results of the expert lecturer validation showed that the module is valid with a percentage of 81.5%. The results of the expert validity test showed a validity percentage of 92.5%. Furthermore, the group trial was limited to 10 students, the responses were obtained that the aspects of language, readability, and appearance of the module were very good. These results indicate that the Problem Based Research (PBR) -based module on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material is developed valid to be continued at the implementation stage, and evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to compare student achievement in teaching chemical equilibrium topics using a guided inquiry approach combined with and without flow charts. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study sample consisted of 31 experimental class students and 24 control class students. The instruments in this study consisted of two types, namely (1) the instrument of treatment in the form of learning devices using a guided inquiry approach combined with flow diagrams in the experimental class students and guided inquiry learning in control class students, while (2) measurement instruments in the form of learning outcomes tests students, student activeness observation sheets, and student performance assessment sheets. The instruments are declared valid by 2 chemistry lecturers and 1 chemistry teacher who has good competence and experience in chemistry and chemistry learning. The results showed that the guided inquiry approach combined with the flow diagram provided students’ cognitive learning achievements (83.87 experimental classes and 70.83 control classes), affective (79.00 experimental classes and 74.00 control classes), and psychomotor (84.00 experimental class and 80.00 control class) were better than guided inquiry approaches without flow diagrams.
