Abstract

The language used in contracts must adhere to the rules of the Indonesian language without diminishing the legal purpose and function, while also serving as a foundation for legal reform in Indonesia. This research is qualitative in nature, aiming to compare legal language in contracts with the standard Indonesian language. The data collected in this study consists of secondary data supported by field research data (primary data). Data collection techniques were carried out through document/literature review, supplemented by observational participation and in-depth interviews. This research identifies the influence of foreign languages, particularly Dutch, which still affects the structure of contract language today. Contract language, which should follow standard Indonesian language rules, often uses unclear, ambiguous, and inefficient terms, which can confuse readers, especially the general public. The results show that the language structure of notarial contracts remains rigid and often improperly structured, leading to potential misinterpretations. However, by using simpler language that adheres to Indonesian language rules, it is hoped that these contracts can be more widely understood by the public, reducing misinterpretations and enhancing clarity and efficiency in legal practice.

Abstract

This study examines the semiotic construction of obsession in the song "A Little Piece of Heaven" by Avenged Sevenfold. Unlike conventional portrayals of romance, the song presents a complex and provocative narrative of control, emotional disturbance, and posthumous revenge. Using Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory, this research employs a qualitative approach to analyze the denotative and connotative meanings embedded in the lyrics. Each verse is examined as a sign that reflects deeper cultural messages and ideological codes surrounding possessiveness and toxic relationships. The analysis reveals how the song constructs a symbolic discourse on love that transforms into domination, revealing the thin line between affection and obsession. This study argues that such lyrical constructions may influence audience interpretations, especially among adolescent listeners, and highlights the importance of media literacy in understanding metaphorical and violent content in popular music. The findings contribute to the field of communication studies by offering insight into how music lyrics operate as cultural texts and vehicles for ideological meaning.

Abstract

This systematic literature review synthesizes research on oral corrective feedback (OCF) and its effects on students' speaking performance within the Indonesian context. Following the PRISMA guidelines, 19 studies published between 2014-2024 were analyzed. The findings reveal diverse OCF practices employed by teachers, with explicit correction and recasts being the most commonly used types. However, a key challenge lies in the mismatch between the OCF strategies preferred by students, such as explicit correction and metalinguistic clues, and those predominantly used by teachers. OCF was found to evoke both positive emotions like motivation and perceived importance, as well as negative emotions including embarrassment, lowered confidence, and nervousness about making mistakes. The studies underscore the need for teachers to consider factors such as error types, timing of correction, students' proficiency levels, and potential emotional impacts when providing OCF. Tailoring OCF practices to individual student needs and preferences emerges as crucial for optimizing effectiveness and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Abstract

Many readers appreciate Eldorado for its narrative appeal, yet the deeper philosophical challenges it raises about humanity’s pursuit of fulfillment often remain overlooked. This study offers a literary analysis of Edgar Allan Poe’s Eldorado, focusing on how the poem portrays human ambition, mortality, and the emotional progression associated with the pursuit of idealized goals. Using a literary analysis approach, the research examines Poe’s use of symbolism, imagery, tone, and poetic structure to explore the knight’s lifelong search for the mythical Eldorado as a metaphor for humanity’s quest for fulfillment and success. The analysis finds that the poem’s symbolic contrasts, rhythmic patterns, and tonal transitions collectively illuminate the psychological and philosophical dimensions embedded in the knight’s journey. In addition, the study situates Eldorado within the broader context of Poe’s writing, emphasizing its alignment with recurring themes in his literary canon, particularly the struggle between idealism and the limitations of human existence. The implications of this research highlight the poem’s continued relevance for literary scholarship and its value for educational and interdisciplinary applications, especially in discussions of ambition, identity, and life transitions. Overall, this study demonstrates that Eldorado functions not only as a narrative of quest but also as a contemplative exploration of hope, disillusionment, and the boundaries of human desire.
