Abstract

A stabile phenotype is desired. Many statistical methods are available to measure stability. So far, the choice of parameter of stability depended on the perception on the interaction of genotype and environment or ease of counting. The goal of this research was to study correlation among stability parameters. In total of 16 stability parameters were used in this research. Saepo modi (SMsp) as a stability parameter was also used. Branch rust incidence, leaf rust incidence, and leaf rust severity on Arabica coffee were used as variables. This research result showed that none of the parameters of stability correlated significantly with all parameter of stability. It coud be concluded that if someone want to use only one stability parameter, it is preffered to make use of regression and deviation from regression (D2i). In the case a researcher needs to use several of parameters of stability, Saepo modi (SMsp) might be exercised.

Abstract

Soybean plants (Glycine max) are the third most important food commodity crop after rice and corn. Soybean production continues to be improved in meeting community needs, but efforts to increase soybean production still face problems, namely green ladybird pest (N. viridula L.). One alternative to control soybean pod sucking insects that are relatively safe, inexpensive, and easily obtained is the use of vegetable insecticides. Vegetable insecticides do not quickly cause pest resistance, are synergistic, and their use can be combined with other pest control techniques. One of them is by using Tagetes erecta plants combined with cow urine as a vegetable insecticide. The use of repellents generally does not directly kill insects, but rather serves to reject the presence of insects, mainly due to the pungent smell. The use of cow urine as a mixture of biopesticides contains growth stimulants and contains repellents for several types of insect pests. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Tagetes erecta in reducing the population of N.viridula pests in soybean plants (Glycine max L.Merr). Non Factorial RAK with 5 levels of treatment and 5 replications. Hopefully with this study farmers can take advantage of tagetes erecta and cow urine waste that can be used as natural pesticides and can be used as a control for Hama Nezara viridula which is environmentally friendly and economic.

Abstract

The use of appropriate planting media and suitable aeration in hydroponic crop cultivation need to be considered to produce maximum plant growth and production. The research was aimed to examine the interaction between planting media and aeration on the growth and production of pakcoy plants. The research was conducted on February -March 2019 at the green house of the Food Crops and Horticulture Seeds Department of Central Java Province and the Ecology and Crop Production Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang. A completely randomized design of factorial pattern was used throughout the experiments. The first factor consisted of husk charcoal (M1), cocopeat (M2), and moss (M3) planting media, respectively. While the second factor consisted of 24 hours/day (A1), 12 hours/day with 30 minutes “on/off" intervals (A2), and 6 hours/day with 45 and 15 minutes “on/off" intervals (A3) of aeration. Each experimental unit was repeated 3 times. Six crops were planted on the basin, size 38 x 31 x 11 cm as one experimental unit. Parameters observed included leaves number, crop growth rate, plant production, and plant dry weight. The results showed that the treatment of moss planting media with 24 hours/day aeration gave high results on the parameters of leaves number and plant production but not significantly different from the treatment of cocopeat planting media with 12 hours /day aeration.
