Abstract

This study was conducted with the goal to identify parameters for a comfortable and cool outdoor environment, particularly in a tropical country like Indonesia. However, no previous research has been conducted to investigate the relationship between building configuration, vegetation density, and climatic conditions in campus areas, particularly the ITB Ganesha campus. As a result, the purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the microclimate on the ITB Ganesha campus using Envi-MET simulations. Thermal comfort factors affected by building configuration and vegetation density are examined in order to determine the relationship between those factors and microclimatic conditions in the campus area. This study employs quantitative methods, including simulation using ENVI-met software and comparison of the characteristics of the areas with data from the simulation. According to the findings, areas with higher vegetation density and lower yet more organized building configurations are cooler and more comfortable than areas with lower vegetation density and lower yet less organized building configurations. This research could lead to new insights for campus planning and development, as well as help create a healthy and comfortable environment on the ITB Ganesha campus while facing the global climate crisis. Aside from that, this study can be used as a reference for decision-making in the field of urban and environmental planning to improve life quality by improving outdoor environmental quality.

Abstract

The three pillars of sustainability namely economic, ecological, and social have been fundamental in development including sustainable urban development. A sustainable city is one that’s environmentally safe, socially inclusive, and economically viable, to allow all of its citizens, now or in the future, to meet their personal needs and improve their quality of life at no cost to others’ natures or human lives. Effective evaluation of urban sustainability is essential for sustainable development. In evaluating, it is necessary to measure sustainability indicators. Therefore, the goal of this study is to determine development and productivity of sustainable city research publications using bibliometric analysis and to identify indicators for evaluating the sustainability of a city using Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data were obtained through search methods from the leading Scopus journal database and manual search. The material obtained is then filtered in three stages namely identifications, screening, and eligibility level. Based on the bibliometric analysis, it was identified that the word cloud of popular research keywords is sustainability and sustainable development while research with indicator keywords is still limited. As a result SLR, had a total of 36 materials and documents that were found and summarized for highlighting. The results showed that there were 225 indicators in a sustainable city, consisting of socio-cultural (65 indicators), environmental (75 indicators), economy (51 indicators), ICT/transverse (12 indicators), and urban (22 indicators) dimensions.

Abstract

The Mangkutana, Tomoni, and Tomoni Timur Urban Areas, later shortened to “Matoto”, are urban areas in East Luwu Regency. The center of economic activity in this region is located in Tomoni District, which later experienced regional development. The development of the region has led to substantial building growth that does not comply with the Regional Regulation (Perda) of East Luwu Regency Number 5 of 2012, as amended by Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2018, concerning Border Lines. Therefore, we are interested in evaluating the layout of buildings in the sub-district that violate and do not conform to existing regional regulations. Next, we specify the research area on the Trans Sulawesi Road Section. This study aims to assess the extent of non-conformity of building lot areas with regional regulations. The analysis employed is overlay analysis with union commands. The results of the analysis indicate that the area of building lots that encroached into the Rumaja area was 46.76%, Rumija covering an area of 16.70%, and Ruwasja at 36.54%.

Abstract

Abstract

The Arut River is a river that flows in South Arut District, West Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan. Communities along the Arut River use the river for transportation and fishing; the community also uses the Arut River as latrines. The habitual behaviour of the open defecation community on the banks of the Arut River is of concern to the local government. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 03 of 2014 concerning STBM on the first pillar, namely STOP BABS, the West Kotawaringin Regency Government is promoting the Zero Latrine Movement Program. This program aims to stop the spread of diseases from open defecation and provide essential services to the community. This study aimed to formulate a strategy for optimizing the Zero Latrine Movement Program with a Community Participatory Approach in the Arut Riverbanks, South Arut District. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research, supported  by primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected through observation and interviews, and secondary data  were in the form of an inventory of PUPR Office data for Kotawaringin Barat Regency. The study results found that the factors hindering the Optimization of the Zero Latrine Movement Program were the Budget/Funds, Infrastructure and Human Resources factors. The strategy that the government can implement to optimize  the zero-latrine program is to continue to approach and socialize, involve the private sector and local companies, and participate in the community.
