Abstract

The global pursuit of gender equality is fundamentally challenged by a paradoxical social friction known as Communicative Undermining among Women (Y), where women engage in critical and diminishing behaviors toward their peers. This study investigates the psychological root cause of this phenomenon, focusing on Internalized Misogyny (X), defined as the unconscious adoption of negative gender stereotypes derived from a patriarchal environment. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), the research aims to statistically quantify how these internalized beliefs drive aggressive interpersonal communication and subsequently erode women’s collective self-efficacy. Following the quantitative framework proposed by Creswell (2016), a systematic four-stage procedure was employed: a pilot study (N=30) for instrument validation, main data collection via Google Forms from 102 women (aged 20-40) in DKI Jakarta, prerequisite assumption testing, and simple linear regression analysis using SPSS. The findings reveal that Internalized Misogyny has a positive and significant influence on Communicative Undermining, with a remarkably high predictive power (R2 = 70.1%, p < 0.001). This suggests that the internalization of detrimental gender stereotypes accounts for the majority of the variance in undermining behaviors. The study concludes that the "Patriarchy Trap" functions by redirecting systemic oppression into lateral conflict, thereby diminishing the self-efficacy of women targets. These results mandate a shift in deconstruction and gender-critical literacy over surface-level conflict resolution to restore genuine women solidarity and collective resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of gender diversity and board of size on tax avoidance practices in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2021–2024 period. The issue of tax avoidance is a significant concern in corporate governance because, although legal, this practice can create ethical dilemmas and impact a company's reputation. This study used a quantitative approach with explanatory methods and purposive sampling techniques. Secondary data were obtained from the companies' annual financial reports. The dependent variable was tax avoidance, as measured by the Effective Tax Rate (ETR), while the independent variables included board size and gender diversity, as represented by the proportion of female directors. Data analysis was conducted using the Robust Regression (RLM) method. The results showed that board size had a significant negative effect on ETR, meaning that the larger the board size, the higher the level of tax avoidance. Meanwhile, gender diversity has a negative but insignificant effect on ETR, indicating that the presence of women on boards is not strong enough to suppress tax avoidance practices. This finding confirms that effective corporate governance depends on an efficient and balanced board structure. Overly large boards can reduce effective oversight, while gender diversity needs to be accompanied by empowerment and a stronger strategic role. This research provides empirical contributions to the fields of accounting and corporate governance and can inform future policy development.

Abstract

This study analyzed the impact of the Gender Development Index (GDI) and the Gender Empowerment Index (GEI) on women's income and their engagement in the workforce across 38 provinces in Indonesia. The gender gap in economic access continues to be a persistent issue, notwithstanding recent enhancements evident in national gender development indices. While prior studies examined gender inequality in broader contexts, there has been a paucity of empirical research directly evaluating the impact of GDI and GEI on women's economic outcomes at the provincial level. This disparity underscored the necessity for a more targeted and data-centric examination. This study's uniqueness resides in its identification of an empowerment paradox, wherein elevated empowerment ratings did not invariably result in enhanced economic conditions for women. This research was driven by the necessity to furnish empirical information that may underpin gender-responsive economic policymaking and rectify discrepancies between formal gender accomplishments and actual economic involvement. A mixed methods approach utilizing a sequential explanatory design was implemented, commencing with quantitative analysis through Spearman’s correlation and linear regression, succeeded by qualitative interpretation to contextualize the statistical results. The results indicated that GDI had a positive and important effect on women's income and their participation in the workforce. Conversely, GEI had little impact on either metric, indicating that formal empowerment accomplishments lag behind meaningful economic advancement for women. The results demonstrated the need for measures that foster fundamental gender development and address structural barriers in the job market.

Abstract

This article examines how gender is co-produced by humans, technologies, and institutions in Indonesian higher education, reframing “gender literacy” as a posthuman assemblage rather than an individual competence. Existing studies on gender education largely focus on attitudes, curriculum content, or gender mainstreaming outcomes, leaving underexplored how learning management systems, surveillance, uniforms, and administrative forms silently encode and enforce gender norms. Addressing this gap, the study proposes a framework of posthuman gender literacies that maps intra-actions among students, devices, platforms, and regulatory texts. Motivated by tensions between state commitments to gender equality, ed-tech expansion, and persistent exclusion of non-normative bodies, the research seeks to clarify how seemingly neutral educational technologies reproduce or unsettle gender binaries. Methodologically, the study employs qualitative multi-sited research in two Indonesian universities, combining policy analysis, platform/interface walkthroughs, and critical multimodal discourse analysis of online classrooms, forms, and assessment dashboards. Preliminary findings indicate that platform defaults, data categories, and interfaces strongly steer students toward binary, heteronormative identities while also opening small spaces for tactical subversion. These insights inform national gender mainstreaming agendas and campus-level governance. The article concludes by outlining policy implications for gender-responsive ed-tech design, institutional data categories, and lecturer training oriented to posthuman gender justice.

Abstract

Male suicide is a critical mental health issue, as suicide rates among men consistently exceed those of women across many countries, including Indonesia. This problem is exacerbated by persistent stigma surrounding emotional expression and men’s reluctance to seek help. Most research on suicide has predominantly focused on psychological and clinical approaches. This study shifts the emphasis toward understanding public perceptions in order to examine how society interprets, stigmatizes, or expresses empathy toward male suicide. In the digital era, YouTube has become a space where the public articulates responses. This study aims to analyze public perceptions of male suicide through comments on the YouTube video “Bangkit Menjalani Hidup Setelah Gagal Bunuh Diri” from the Menjadi Manusia channel and examine their implications for mental health policy. Using a qualitative design, thematic analysis was conducted on more than one thousand public comments selected based on relevance to male suicide. The findings reveal three central themes: (1) Empathy and digital solidarity; (2) Stigma and moral judgment toward male vulnerability; and (3) Critiques of and hopes for mental health policy. These findings indicate that public perceptions are shaped by gendered expectations and structural inequalities in mental health services, contributing to men’s difficulties in recognizing and responding to psychological crises. The study recommends gender-responsive mental health policies that expand service access, strengthen public literacy, and incorporate digital spaces as part of a broader support ecosystem.
