Abstract

Customary land is claimed as a safekeeping of history that must be maintained, local wisdom is considered as a code of conduct, and forests and traditional land as a dependent space for communal living. Meanwhile, the pace of expansion of palm oil plantations by the private sector supported by the state through permit schemes has created resource conflicts in customary law areas that threaten the existence of Tau Taa Wana's cultural heritage. This threat to cultural heritage has pushed the indigenous women of Wana Posangke to carry out resistance movements to protect and maintain communal cultural identity. This means that expansion activities that threaten the existence of cultural heritage encourage the desire to protect and maintain cultural heritage.

Wives found their husbands having sexual relations or the husband himself confessed his actions. Based on the legislation, the wife as a disadvantaged person might file for divorce on the grounds that the husband behaves homosexually even though the regulation could only justify by mentioning a constant dispute. In addition, it was impossible for a marriage to be built and be able to achieve its goals when the husband was not only homosexual but also bisexual. Abstract

This article discusses the neglect of matrilineal tradition by Pariaman society during the colonial era (1846-1922), based on a study of autobiography written by Me’ Saleh gala Datoe’ Oerang Kajo Basa. The book entitled Tjoerito Parasaian Me’ Saleh is a family historical note of successful trader in Pariaman. The society in Pariaman is known as heterogeneous in terms of ethnicity, cultures, and religion, in contrast to darek society that is known as homogeneous in the mentioned fields. The heterogeneity of the Pariaman society then forms a social relational pattern and it is a different form compared to the darek society. The autobiography illustrates that the cultural characteristics of Pariaman society in the beginning was formed by their interaction with foreign people from Aceh, Nias, Bugis, India, China, Madura, Arab, and European countries. Since then they became an open minded people and easy to adapt with new influences. This condition resulted some matrilineal tradition applied in darek was not implemented and obeyed in rantau.

Abstract

Language has long been considered as a territory dominated by women. For example, in the area of interpretation/translation it can be seen that there are more women than men 3 to 1, and when talking about language teaching, there are more female instructors than men. So the question is: are women better at learning languages and acquiring languages than men? This research was conducted on students of the Arabic Language Study Program of IAIN Bukittinggi. Gender studies related to second language acquisition are linked to developments in two different subfields, namely: second language acquisition studies on one side and language and gender studies on the other. This research is a qualitative descriptive study and uses a performance analysis approach. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the mastery of syntax and writing of Arabic words and letters between students and female students and there is a gender effect in acquiring and mastering Arabic as a second language.
