Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of consumer trust, ease of use, and payment flexibility of TikTok PayLater on purchasing decisions for Wardah cosmetics. The research employed a quantitative explanatory approach, designed to explain relationships and effects among variables. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with the population being students of Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH Bengkulu. A total of 120 respondents who had used TikTok PayLater and purchased Wardah cosmetics online were selected. Primary data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms using a Likert scale, and analyzed with SPSS version 25. The results show that, partially, consumer trust, ease of use, and payment flexibility each have a significant effect on purchasing decisions. Simultaneously, these three variables also significantly influence purchasing decisions for Wardah cosmetics. These findings affirm that the integration of psychological (trust), functional (ease of use), and financial (payment flexibility) aspects plays an important role in driving purchasing decisions in the digital era. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of marketing strategies that are responsive to digital consumer behavior. The implications suggest that these results may serve as a reference for designing technology-based marketing strategies in the cosmetics industry as well as in the broader e-commerce sector.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing importance of understanding consumer behavior in the rapidly expanding halal cosmetics market, particularly among Generation Z. The objective of the research is to analyze the factors influencing purchase intention toward halal cosmetic products in Indonesia, focusing on the variables of religious belief, ingredient safety, halal logo, and promotion. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 200 Generation Z respondents who completed an online questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to identify the effect of each variable on purchase intention. The findings reveal that all four variables have a positive and significant influence on the purchase intention of halal cosmetic products. These results confirm that religious values, ingredient safety, the presence of a halal logo, and effective promotional strategies play crucial roles in shaping consumer intention. The study concludes that halal cosmetic companies should design integrated marketing strategies, particularly by leveraging digital platforms aligned with the characteristics of Generation Z. The implications of this research offer valuable insights for developing business strategies that are grounded in halal values and tailored to the preferences of young consumers in the digital age.

Abstract

The quality of halal products and promotional strategies based on Islamic principles are crucial factors in enhancing consumer appeal and increasing sales volume, particularly in industries targeting markets sensitive to product halalness. However, limited attention has been given to the influence of these factors within the local industrial sector. This study aims to analyze the effects of halal product quality and Islamic promotional strategies on sales volume at the Sentra Industri Dodol Tunas Mandiri, Rimbo Bujang District. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to 198 respondents selected through probability sampling, based on Krejcie and Morgan’s formula from a population of 406 individuals. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS 4.0. The results indicate that halal product quality has a positive and significant effect on sales volume by strengthening product image and credibility. Furthermore, Islamic promotional strategies also exert a positive and significant influence on sales volume, as they attract consumers who emphasize halal aspects. These findings suggest that improving halal product quality and optimizing Islamic promotional strategies represent strategic measures for producers to sustainably increase sales volume.

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) is a strategic factor in supporting the performance of government organizations; however, practices within local bureaucracies often remain administrative and suboptimal. This study aims to examine HRM practices and their impact on employee performance in the Household Subdivision of the Regional Secretariat of North Toraja Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using purposive sampling, involving five informants comprising structural officials and staff employees. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed thematically through transcription, coding, categorization, and interpretation. The findings reveal that HRM practices are still administrative in nature: workforce planning is reactive, contract staff recruitment is based on internal recommendations, training is rarely conducted, performance appraisal lacks measurable indicators, and incentives are limited. These conditions result in low achievement motivation, although supported by harmonious working relationships, adequate facilities, and a strong familial culture. Supporting factors include team cohesion and a leadership style that provides flexibility, while key challenges lie in the lack of training, non-merit-based recruitment, weak performance appraisal systems, and limited incentive budgets. The study concludes that transforming HRM toward a strategic approach is crucial through needs- and competency-based planning, merit-based open recruitment, continuous training, objective evaluation, and performance-based incentives.

Abstract

Consumer purchase decisions regarding halal cosmetic products have become increasingly relevant amid rising religious awareness and intense competition within the beauty industry. However, understanding the contribution of brand image and halal labeling remains limited, particularly among university students. This study aims to analyze the influence of brand image and halal labels on purchasing decisions for Wardah products among students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. A quantitative survey method was employed, involving 100 students selected through simple random sampling using Slovin’s formula. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire, while data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that brand image has a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions (sig. 0.002 < 0.05; coefficient 0.482). Halal labeling also has a positive and significant effect (sig. 0.024 < 0.05; coefficient 0.495). Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect purchase decisions (sig. 0.001 < 0.05; F = 34.453; R² = 0.426). The study concludes that brand image and halal labels are key determinants influencing FEBI UIN STS Jambi students’ decisions to purchase Wardah products, with implications for producers to strengthen brand image and ensure halal certification as effective marketing strategies.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has shifted consumer behavior from conventional shopping to online shopping, including through social commerce platforms such as TikTok Shop. However, understanding the key factors influencing purchase intention remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effects of online customer ratings, online customer reviews, and discounts on purchase intention among students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. A quantitative approach with descriptive and verificative methods was employed. The sample consisted of 94 active students from the 2021–2022 cohorts who had purchased from TikTok Shop at least twice, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression, classical assumption tests, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results indicate that online customer ratings do not significantly affect purchase intention, while online customer reviews and discounts exert a positive and significant influence. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect purchase intention, with an adjusted R² of 69.8%, indicating that variations in purchase intention are substantially explained by the independent variables. This study concludes that consumer reviews and discount strategies are the primary drivers of student purchase intention on TikTok Shop, with practical implications for online businesses to emphasize trust-building and price incentives in digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

The low level of reading comprehension skills among fifth-grade students at SDN 10 Sungai Sapih forms the background of this study, primarily due to reading instruction that minimally engages prediction processes, resulting in students struggling to answer questions and draw conclusions from texts. This research aims to analyze the effect of the Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, and Evaluate (PORPE) strategy on students’ reading comprehension skills. A quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design and a quantitative approach was employed. Data were analyzed using a t-test, which revealed that the t-value exceeded the critical value (4.272 > 1.676), indicating the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of H₁. The main findings demonstrate that the PORPE strategy has a significant effect on improving students' reading comprehension skills. The study concludes that the PORPE strategy is effective in reading comprehension instruction. Theoretically, this research contributes to the body of knowledge on cognitively based reading strategies, while practically, it serves as a reference for teachers and schools in implementing more structured and strategic literacy approaches. Additionally, this study opens avenues for further exploration of PORPE strategy implementation across different educational levels and learning contexts.

Abstract

The importance of hotel and restaurant taxes as primary sources of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) forms the background of this study, particularly in Jambi City, which has experienced growth in the tourism and service sectors but continues to face a gap between tax potential and actual revenue. This study aims to analyze the effect of hotel and restaurant taxes on Jambi City's PAD during the 2013–2024 period. A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis with EViews software. The data analyzed consisted of quarterly secondary data on hotel tax, restaurant tax, and PAD revenue obtained from the Regional Tax and Retribution Management Agency (BPPRD) of Jambi City, using a saturated sampling technique covering the entire observation period. Model validity was tested through classical assumption tests, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results indicate that hotel tax has a positive and significant effect on PAD, while restaurant tax does not have a statistically significant partial effect. However, jointly, both taxes have a significant effect on PAD, contributing 39% to its variation. The study concludes that hotel tax is a strategic instrument for increasing Jambi City's PAD and should be optimized through tax base expansion, tourism sector promotion, and improved taxpayer compliance. In contrast, the effectiveness of restaurant tax requires further evaluation of its collection mechanisms to enhance its contribution to PAD.

Abstract

The decline in income among traditional market traders at Pasar Gang Siku, Jambi City, due to the growing dominance of e-commerce and limited business capital forms the background of this study, while research simultaneously examining both factors remains limited. This study aims to analyze the influence of e-commerce utilization and business capital on the income of traditional clothing traders at Pasar Gang Siku within the context of the digital era. A quantitative approach was employed, with random sampling applied to 65 clothing traders. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests. The results indicate that e-commerce has a significant effect on traders' income, with a significance value of 0.001 and a regression coefficient of 0.470. Conversely, business capital does not have a significant partial effect, with a significance value of 0.052 and a regression coefficient of 0.211. However, both variables together significantly influence traders' income. The study concludes that e-commerce utilization is a key factor in increasing traditional traders' income amidst digital transformation, while the effectiveness of business capital depends on managerial capacity and technological adaptation. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the study of traditional market adaptation in the digital age and practical recommendations for formulating digital-based local economic empowerment strategies.

Abstract

The low level of early reading skills among second-grade students at SDN 21 Lubuk Lintah serves as the background of this study, as it directly impacts both the learning process and the development of students’ foundational literacy. This research aims to examine the effect of the Planning, Attention, Simultaneous and Successive Processing (PASS) learning model on early reading skills among second-grade students. The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The population and sample consisted of all 28 students in Class II.3. Data were collected through an early reading test administered before and after the implementation of the PASS model. Results showed that students’ early reading skills were in the "adequate" category prior to the intervention (62%) and improved to 67% after the intervention, remaining within the same category. A hypothesis test using the t-test yielded tₕᵢₜᵤₙg = 7.69 > tₜₐbₑₗ = 2.05, indicating that H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted. This confirms a significant effect of the PASS model on improving early reading skills. The study concludes that the PASS model is effective, although the observed improvement is moderate. The implication is that this model can serve as an alternative instructional strategy for teachers to enhance students’ focus, attention, and information processing in a gradual and integrated manner, thereby supporting literacy development at the elementary school level.
