Abstract

It is widely believed that the Democratization movements In Chekoslovakia, Poland, East Germany and Russia, have inspired a lot of Indonesian prodemocratic activists who are today still searching for a new paradigm of political movements through the consept of civil society. However, the Indonesian Intellectual society is still arguing about the consept; some experts view it from the perspective of Hegelian and Gramscian, some others perceive it from that Tocquevellian. Never theless, it should be noted that the consept relates to the historical and socio-political backgrounds of Indonesia in order to be more helpful for civil society formation.

Abstract

As a worldwide actual issue, nowadays, the consept of civil society has been popular in a lot of countries, especially in Asia, in Latin America Military regihries, and in Europe. In Indonesia, the discussion of the subject has moved into substansial area involving the form of civil society that can be established. There are least three models of the concept: firstly, civil society is only an interim form, because it may be destructed," and in turn be demobilished by the power. Secondly, because the state is merely a manifestation of the civil society and the function of the state only to serve greedly persons, the state will be destroyed by the proletar revolution. Thirdly, civil society will be used by the hegemony holder, at the same will be used by the hegemony holder, but at the same time it will ethically function to educate people. Nevertheless, whatever the models, it should be an ethical society that progressively achieve a great civilization.

Abstract

Undoubtedly, the New Era regime has made an excellent reputation in facing rebellions by local governments [provincies] inherited by the Old Regime. However, the repression and otoritarianism acted by the New Era has caused another danger, that is, the 'revenge' of the provinces against the central government. There are three points that must be considered to be enforced in the next area; First, the national political system must represent the local representative elected in fair way. Second, democratization among local governments must be strongly introduced to avoid otoritarianism in the local governments. Third, between the local supra-structure and the national supra-structure must be clearey separated. Fourth, another mechanism other than the representation through the House of Representative is urgently needed as a gateway for local governments to take part in setting up the national policies.

Abstract

As a discourse of Postmodernism, deconstruction has a great importance to be used as a tool of cultural reform in Indonesia. When The New Era was in power it developed the "logocentrism culture" through the creation of "biner position" in the structure of language, society, political-economy, and of course, culture. These structures were implemented in the feudalism., totalitarianism, and oppresive manner of the New Era. The stigmatization against some groups as a subversives, dissident or anti-Pancaslla, had been very popular during Suharto's regime. Hopefully, the deconstruction perspective, as a tool of reform will encourage changes in Indonesia which meet requirements for globalization. Finally, it recommended that the perspective of deconstruction encourage changes for Indonesia toward the new paradigm and structure which, in turn, satisfy, the intemal and global needs.
