Abstract

Lifestyle is a natural thing, not triggered by certain things such as advertisements, living environment, and so on. As is known, meeting the needs is already important, but if it exceeds the limit, it means that it cannot be said to be normal or reasonable. Lifestyle is a pattern of action that distinguishes one person or group from another. If the lifestyle is as an ideology, it will form an identity that is individual or group and distinguishes it from others. Lifestyle has a goal to then be able to form an image that is proud of both users and participants. The image displayed through a lifestyle is more often in contact with a person's various appearances and has properties that can be captured and felt by the senses. The image that arises on the lifestyle chosen by a person is closely related to values and social status. The concept of a minimalist lifestyle is in harmony with Islamic values. In the Qur'an itself the concept of minimalist living has been explained in several suras. The concept of minimalist living is also exemplified by the Prophet and his family. The concept of a lifestyle that teaches behavior not to overdo it in life, whether it's about eating, shopping, or dressing. The concept of minimalist living also teaches you to prioritize what is more needed in life, using what is around you as efficiently as possible. Reducing the number of items or collections owned is included in the concept of minimalist living. Appreciating and caring for what you currently have is also part of the minimalist living concept. In Surah Al-A'raf verse 31, it is explained that you must wear clothes and choose food or drinks within reasonable limits, not excessive. Then in Surah Al-Isra 'verse 26 it is explained that there is a prohibition on wasting the property owned. Then in the same sura, verse 27, it is explained that waste is a reflection of the devil's brothers.

Abstract

Abstract Mu'tazila is one of the schools of kalam that appears in Islamic intellectual history. Although considered a heresy, the Mu'tazilite scholars played an important role in the development of various traditional Islamic disciplines. Initially, Western historians considered Mu'tazila rationalism as an anomaly in Islamic history. However, various studies show that they are not only an integral part of the Islamic intellectual tradition, but they have also even influenced Islamic scholars from various Islamic schools of thought in the next generation. This article will focus on the narrative of the Mu'tazila in Western scholarship by focusing on the history of its early emergence and development, the originality of the theological and philosophical ideas they developed, and their intellectual legacy in Islamic intellectual history. This research is library research with content analysis approach. This article shows that despite their adoption of foreign concepts and methods, especially from Greek philosophers, Mu'tazilite thinkers had developed their own original ideas. Furthermore, this paper will also discuss Mu'tazila's influence on scholars who came after them, not only in Islamic theology, but also in other fields of Islamic sciences.

Abstract

This paper discusses the meaning of the word darajah in The Qur'an in particular in QS al-Baqarah [2]:228 which seems to be used as legitimacy for gender-biased people who think that women are left behind. In the study of semiotics, the word darajah is a symbol in the delivery of messages that must be interpreted. One of the relevant semiotic theories to be used in this paper is Roland Barthes' semiotics. In general, the semiotics offered by Barthes have two stages. The first stage is called the linguistic system and the second stage is called the mythological system. Next, the author will apply Barthes' semiotic theory to understand the meaning of the word darajah in QS al-Baqarah [2]: 228. The result is namely, the linguistic system in the word darajah is defined as position, leadership, and the rank of men is higher than women. While the mythological system is the meaning of the word darajah in this verse, namely the husbands have more right to take the wife back if he wants reconciliation with good intentions. The ideology or message contained in the verse is the relationship between husband and wife who have equal rights and obligations in the household.

Abstract

Throughout the history of the tradition of Islamic studies, there have been various works of ‘ulum al-hadith that have been produced by hadith scholars. These works differ in their writing methodology from one work to another. To understand the differences, a study of each work and the background of the author is very necessary to be conducted to reveal and explain it. Thus, this study aims to introduce one of the figures in the discipline of ‘ulum al-hadith named Sheikh ‘Abd al-Hay al-Laknawi (d. 1304H) with a focus on one of his monumental works, namely Zafar al-Amani fi Sharh Mukhtasar al-Jurjani. This qualitative study uses content analysis methods to identify and comprehensively describe the methodology of al-Laknawi's writing in the work. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the methodology of writing al-Laknawi is seen as quite systematic and loaded with scientific discussions on issues that are quite complex in the science of hadith such as the issue of hadith hasan, the problem of doing good deeds with weak hadith, the issue of hadith mursal, issues munkar hadith and so on, along with his interpretation of the various views of the scholars presented. According to the research, this book of Zafar al-Amani is quite worthy to be placed in line with the great works of the discipline of ‘ulum al-hadith which should be studied and used as a reference by scholars and students.

Abstract

Abstract

The problem of terrorism raises concerns and unrest that never ends. Terrorism acts are still a potential threat to national security stability, so it demands the government's vigilance to prevent and overcome them. One of the factors causing the difficulty of overcoming the problem of terrorism is ideological differences and understanding of religious teachings or interpretations of qital verses that are less precise. On the other hand, differences in the method of interpreting a verse from various groups also color the pattern of people's understanding of Islam. Therefore, this article tries to reinterpret the understanding of the qital verse which has been used as a legitimacy to justify acts of terror. Of the many qital verses contained in the Qur'an, this article only focuses on the interpretation of Surah al-Baqoroh verses 190 and 191. By using the ma'na cum magza approach in interpreting and understanding these verses, it will be proven how far the theory goes. ma'na cum maghza can be an alternative interpretation methodology that leads to a relevant understanding. The theory promoted by Sahiron sets an operational step which includes linguistic analysis first, then historical analysis (historical analysis) and then develops the significance of the verse according to with the current situation.
