Abstract

Rebellion against the function and role of women in dance has given rise to cases of transgender and travesti. The role of men in dance activities was gradually replaced by women. Women no longer only act as presenters in performances, but also place themselves in the status of choreographers in a work. This study aims to describe the choreograph structure, style and character of the Remo Sri Utami dance moves. To identify and analyze various data findings in the field, the study uses the concept of masculinity as well as style and character. Research that uses descriptive qualitative method with masculinity style and character approach, focuses more on data collection techniques by observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation through triangulation techniques. Aspects of motivation, spontaneous instincts, honesty, respect for self-potential, as well as cross-value experiences in art are strong reflections to form the masculinity of the Sri Utami style Remo dance.

Abstract

The traditional theater performing art, Sandur Manduro which originated from the people’s spontaneity of Manduro Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency, is formed by their life cycle. Numerous artistic components, including Fine Arts, Literary Arts, Musical Arts, and Dance arts, may be found in Sandur Manduro. However, the ritualistic purpose of Sandur Manduro's art is currently experiencing a decline in performances. Three (3) issues need to be addressed, including 1) Its performing duration lasts for about roughly eight hours, 2). Sandur Manduro, whose initial acts as a ritual function of Ngudari Kata may turn into a performance/entertainment function, 3) there is no regeneration for the older players of Sandur Manduro. Through the Community Partnership Program (PKM), it is expected to be an independent performance by revitalizing it into an art of tourism and training it to the younger generations of Manduro Village. To revitalize this, the authors adopted Adolph S. Tomars's conceptual framework of Tourism Art that is: 1) Compaction, 2) copy of the original, 3) elimination of sacred and symbolic values for glamorous, 4) diversity, and 5) affordability.

Abstract

Traditional art theatre that is owned and attached to a community can be used to understand the culture of a society. This is true because traditional arts and theater reflect the personality and way of life of the broader community. Traditional theatrical productions that are held live and move from one location to another (tobong) are becoming increasingly rare and are currently on the verge of extinction. Additionally, every performance is always in competition with other arts that have been transformed by other technological media television. Many forms of presentation produced using stage visuals were influenced by ludruk tobong, which had its peak in the 1970s and 1980s. Ludruk Tobong, a traditional populist-based theater, was born and raised in a society that has served as its primary patron. Every staging of a play incorporates "actors and patrons" as a representation of life, and this is also true of the ludruk tobong performance. When entertainment in multiple media can alienate an audience, the ludruk tobong packaging is now regarded as outmoded and does not offer market benefits, making it more difficult to carry out regeneration, which causes a gradual fall in both supporters and perpetrators. It's interesting to investigate social dynamics that affect the continued existence of traditional populist arts or theater through a patronage-based reinterpretation. This qualitative study aims to describe various supporting factors and explain the reinterpretation and patronage perspectives in ludruk tobong performances as traditional theater. To analyze the results of the study, the concept of traditional art and the analogy of Goffman's performance or dramaturgy were used as well as the concept of patronage and various other concepts that were also supported by the results of interviews in the field.

Abstract

The Wiyu village's traditional arts have not developed or made much progress in the last two years since the outbreak began. As one of the reinforcements of the village, this traditional art must be revived so that the tourist village can be re-run with more varied programs. For instance, in the form of incentive tourism locations where the village potential is fully developed to support the success of the existing tourist destinations. One of the bantengan arts groups that requires special attention in order to compete is Turangga Jaya, which is located in Wiyu Village, Pacet Subdistrict, and Mojokerto Regency. In this case, researchers packaged the performances for welcoming and also created a Youtube channel as a means of promotion and documentation to increase marketing success. It is necessary to use promotional materials as part of a marketing strategy to connect with art enthusiasts so that the younger generation knows about it. This art will have viewers among the younger generation if it can use social media as a promotional tool. Thus, to assist the survival of the Turangga Jaya bantengan art, this community service strategy was implemented.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the deconstruction form of Kiran’s life, the main character in the ‘Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur!’ novel, by Muhidin M Dahlan. In this study, the novel itself served as the source of data and it was analyzed by using Jacques Derrida’s deconstruction method. This study shows how the main character's desire to struggle against a religious culture is being deconstructed. She ultimately carried out the destruction and rebellion in the construction that he had previously accepted and solemnly believed in because of the disappointment felt by God and men. A reversal situation of someone who was once quite religious, to someone who no longer obeys his religion and God. She even disregarding His teachings and eventually losing faith in God's power. There are attempts to shake, break, and destroy Kiran's resistance in this instance.
