Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of musical accompaniment in creating a comedic and dramatic atmosphere in the fictional short film titled "Jarene". Music, as an audio element in film, plays a crucial role in enhancing visual narratives and the audience's emotions. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a semiotic and audiovisual aesthetic analysis approach. Data were obtained through direct observation of the film "Jarene", interviews with the filmmakers, and literature studies related to film music theory and dramaturgy. The results indicate that the selection of music type, tempo, harmony, and synchronization with visual scenes can effectively create a contrast in atmosphere between comedic and dramatic segments in the film. Fast paced music with light melodies tends to enhance the comedic tone, while slow tempo music with minor harmonies is effective in depicting dramatic moods. This study concludes that well designed musical accompaniment can enhance the quality of emotional delivery and strengthen the narrative message in short films. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for filmmakers in utilizing music elements to support the atmosphere in their audiovisual works.

Abstract

The Topeng Tunggal Dance is a traditional Betawi art form created by Mak Kinang and Kong Djiun in 1930. The inception of the Topeng Tunggal Dance was inspired by a vision experienced by Mak Kinang, which was subsequently brought to life through dance and musical accompaniment by Kong Djiun. This research aims to explore and understand the values and functions inherent in the Topeng Tunggal Dance. The methodology employed in this study is qualitative, utilizing an analytical descriptive approach and the functional theory of RM. Soedarsono. Data collection techniques include observations, interviews with artists, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Topeng Tunggal Dance embodies two primary values: moral and aesthetic. Additionally, this dance serves three functions: as entertainment, as a performing art, and as a medium for education. These values and functions position the Topeng Tunggal Dance not only as a cultural heritage but also as a means for character development and the preservation of the cultural identity of the Betawi people.

Abstract

Painting, as a fine art discipline, typically involves the conversion of human experiences, both internal and external, into a two-dimensional material, such as paper or canvas. Paintings are distinguished by their emotion, necessitating effective conveyance. The production of quality paintings necessitates a foundation of knowledge and proficiency in techniques. Supporting components encompass a fundamental comprehension of visual elements and principles, as well as a diligent observation of worldwide occurrences to remain informed about contemporary issues and advancements in painting. The fundamental skills in painting encompass applying color using brush strokes, followed by the process of generating repetitive lines, known as shading techniques. Shading techniques are fundamental methods in the creation of drawing art. The current period offers boundless opportunities for elaboration and collaboration, encompassing a range of creation processes and the research of mediums, from traditional to expanded forms. The liberty to utilize diverse mediums influences the evolution of painting with shading techniques, transitioning from traditional drawing to expanded drawing, which encompasses art that transcends conventional materials like paper or canvas.

Abstract

Working as a sailor or crew member on the Fosep Engine Vessel owned by a Korean entity entails a significant risk of occupational stress. The crew members often spend approximately six months annually working and residing away from home in a distinctive work setting. Moreover, fluctuating internal circumstances aboard the vessel and diverse worker histories may induce occupational stressors. Determinants of work-related stress are essential for enhancing appreciation and aesthetic interest in aesthetic objects, thereby influencing routine behavior and entertainment, which ultimately fosters a more optimal work ethic and mitigates boredom among the crew members on the Fosep Engine Vessel owned by a Korean entity. This study aims to explore an artistic approach to relaxation in employee psychological therapy, with the anticipated results serving as a reference for interdisciplinary collaboration in the realms of art and maritime work, ultimately enhancing work ethic and alleviating employee stress. The employed research methodology is qualitative, utilizing data gathering techniques such as surveys, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, alongside triangulation analysis methods to derive conclusions from the findings. This study concludes that art serves as a vehicle for individuals to articulate emotions, thoughts, and experiences, providing enjoyment during work-related boredom, therefore enhancing work ethic and alleviating employee stress. Artistic entertainment may serve as a means to regulate emotions, allowing the mind to govern kinesthetic possibilities, sensory experiences, and symbolic interpretations, so facilitating expressive communication.
