Abstract: This article explores the phenomena that occur in thelife of society, especially urban communities, namely shoppingbehavior, which has become a culture in the modern world.Shopping culture is not only about behavioral phenomena,but the very important is the philosophy behind this culture.Therefore, the shopping culture should be reviewed by Christianethics. Abstract: Differences in views in a plural community cannot beavoided because each view or philosophy of life is formulated byreasonable people. It is generally accepted that the plurality oflife views must be addressed in the spirit of democracy that relieson the use of reason, where each person or group is given theopportunity to convey their perspectives. But the fact shows thatthe role of reason is getting weaker in deliberation, especially incountries that implement a system of representative democracy.Then, do we thus abandon democracy as an approach in addressingdifferences of opinion? Using a qualitative approach, the authorargues that democracy remains the best choice in addressingdifferences of views. However, based on Arendt’s concept ofpolitics as a speech, the ideal democratic approach should bedeliberative rather than liberal because deliberative democracyaims to transform the perspective of each person or grouhlm.Keywords: politics, pluralism, common sense, agonistic, liberaldemocracy, deliberative democracy, political speech.

Abstract: This article is aimed at introducing Hans Küng’s globalethic and its contributions to world peace. Various crises whichhave hit and are hitting the world motivated Küng to againstruggle to bring peace about and to establish a new, better lifeorder. By a global ethic – a basic consensus on binding values, noncancellablecriteria, and basic attitudes which are affirmed by allreligions, although dogmatically they are different, and which canactually be given by non-believers – Küng emphasizes importantroles of religions without disregarding non-religious communities,which are principally present to bring peace about as the maincharacteristic of their teachings. Specifically, Küng’s opinion isrelevant in an effort to bring peace about in Indonesia, which isvery plural. Realizing that threats against peace and plurality inIndonesia often come and result from interreligious conflicts, adialogue is absolutely necessary. As a concrete form of a globalethic, Küng suggests a critical dialogue. Representatives of thereligions in Indonesia need to step forward and sit together in agive-and-take dialogue which introduces the special aspect andmain direction of each of the religions. Followers’ steadfastnessin the principles and seriousness in following the religions aretwo main keys to a critical dialogue, which can penetrate thefoundation of each religion with all of its consequences.Keywords: Peace, Crisis, Global Ethic, Religion, Critical Dialogue

Abstract: Islamism has all of the characteristics of other secularideologies, such as the faith that it has and offers the one and onlyabsolute truth and thus claims that it reserves the right to imposelaw which must be obeyed by the society. Its ideological thoughtwhich can endanger peace is that political views are consideredto be truth. On this basis, the society tends to be mapped outaccording to the right/wrong schema and therefore the ownersof truth feel legitimized to disregard and oppress groups whichthey consider wrong. This has a serious consequence for realisticunderstanding of what politics is. One typical, main characteristicof an ideological thought is that obliterating enemies is consideredas an essential part of political duties, which is a principle to watchout for. Politics is not theory but praxis (action) and hence thereis no absoluteness. Consequently, there are always pro and contra,the need for consideration, and the possibility of compromises. Inall political process, there would be the winner and loser, but therewould be no right and wrong. The role of politics lies in an effortto ensure peaceful social life with freedom and justice amongpeople of different religious backgrounds who are determined tobuild a nation together.Keywords: Politics, Islamism, Ideology, Ideological Thought

Abstract: This article aims to present that sorcery and witchcraftis still widely practiced in Flores. It is one of the main thornysources of social conflicts in almost every village. There havebeen a hot-witch hunts at many regions of the islands. Numerouswitches or sorcerers caught red-handed practicing it were triedaccording customary laws of the villagers and then killed publicly.This article also presents that a number of paranormals can provethe existence of the sorcery practices. The mediums used by theperpetrators can be detected. These mediums were claimed toemit a kind of toxic gas which is thought to cause the victim toget sick and die. This poisonous gas will, however, disappear onlyif it is sprinckled by the sacramental holy water and its victim willslowely recover.Keywords: black magic, sorcery, witchcraft, paranormal, divinepower, holy water.

Abstract: Philosophy is often popularly accepted as an abstractscience and unrealistic. The reality of human life is not touchedby philosophy. This assumption must be falsified. Philosophy isnot a science that comes from another planet. From the beginning,philosophy was closely related to human reflection about his life inthe context of the macrocosm and microcosm. Philosophy thinksabout human life and presents a path to the goals of life bothpersonally and collectively. In this sense philosophy is not an purelyacademic matter, it is also not a private matter of philosophers, butit is an general matter.
