Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: Etika, keduniawian, berpikir, menilai, tanggungjawab. Abstract: This paper aims at reconstructing Arendts ethics of worldliness from her specific way of thinking about the world and how to judge an action takes place in it. For Arendt, in thinking, we express our concern and opinion about the world and what is going on in it. It is one way of showing our responsibility for the world into which we are thrown. In judging a political action we are directed by ethical constraints to come from the world itself and the verdict of spectators. That means, when we judge we should be aware of the things that an action could bring to the public realm and what others might say about it. Keywords: Ethics, worldliness, thinking, judging, responsibility.

Abstract

Abstract: Differences in views in a plural community cannot beavoided because each view or philosophy of life is formulated byreasonable people. It is generally accepted that the plurality oflife views must be addressed in the spirit of democracy that relieson the use of reason, where each person or group is given theopportunity to convey their perspectives. But the fact shows thatthe role of reason is getting weaker in deliberation, especially incountries that implement a system of representative democracy. Then, do we thus abandon democracy as an approach in addressingdifferences of opinion? Using a qualitative approach, the authorargues that democracy remains the best choice in addressingdifferences of views. However, based on Arendt’s concept ofpolitics as a speech, the ideal democratic approach should bedeliberative rather than liberal because deliberative democracyaims to transform the perspective of each person or grouhlm. Keywords: politics, pluralism, common sense, agonistic, liberaldemocracy, deliberative democracy, political speech.

Abstract

Abstract: Radicalism seriously threatens modern pluralistic communities. In recent times, many national states have put in place strategic plans to fight against radicalism, or to lessen the impact of radical ideas or behaviour. This is known as the process of de-radicalisation. This isn’t an easy process there are many reasons behind the growth of radicalism. One of these is the simple acceptance of differences without trying to understand those differences and the similarities of the people of a country. This can be signified by, and caused by a process of uniformity, which can be seen in the system of education. With this in mind, this article proposes a strategic, effective campaign against radicalism, beginning with a model of multicultural education. Multicultural education promotes the principle of inclusiveness, diversity, democracy and critical thinking which is appropriate for a pluralistic country which enables the education of people to live in a multicultural community. Keywords: Radicalism, inability to think, diversity, ideology, multiculturalism, multicultural education. Abstract

ABSTRACT:This article talks about the problem of violence against women in the Maumere and Larantuka dioceses, Flores, NTT and how religion (Catholic Church) functions in dealing with it. The aim is to identify the forms of violence, their causes and effects in both dioceses and what the function of religion (Catholic Church) is to prevent and deal with these problems. Interview methods, focused group discussions (FGD) and document studies were used to collect data, while descriptive qualitative analysis was used for data analysis. The results show that violence against women is found in both areas of the diocese with physical, psychological, verbal, economic, cultural-based and online violence. The Catholic Church through the Diocesan Commission on Gender and Women's Empowerment carries out educational, control, fraternal, and transformative functions. This is done in direct collaboration and through networks with multi-stakeholders, although this is not sufficient. This study recommends the importance of strengthening institutional capacity and increasing network collaboration. KEYWORDS: Commission on Gender and Women's Empowerment, institutional capacity, network collaboration, violence against women, women empowerment.

Abstract

Keywords: “Worldlessness”, crimes against humanity, anti-Semitism, imperialism, “rightlessness”.

Abstract

Corruption, understood as the misuse of entrusted power for private gain, has spread to every corner of Indonesia and become engrained in our daily lives. This is partly caused by the failure to think critically and the fear of judging representatively. It seems that members of our society have become thoughtless and are enslaved by human-made systems or rules. They blindly and uncritically follow the rules to the point where stealing money from those who really need it is considered perfectly normal. Here, corruption is an evil that is called banal. Therefore, following Arendt’s way of thinking, this article suggests the enhancement of critical thinking accompanied by an ability of judging representatively in the midst of the homogenization of the process of thinking as a way of reducing or even eradicating corruption.

Abstract

This article aims to introduce two inspiring figures or models of involved priests, namely Oscar Romero and John Prior. Through comparative analysis of qualitative data, it is discovered that there are differences between Romero and John in terms of historical background, context, and methods or forms of involvement. Romero was a priest who later became a bishop and faced the authoritarian government in El Salvador, while Prior was a priest and intellectual who was concerned with the internal realities of the Church in Indonesia. Romero used the method of preaching and prophetic discourse, while John’s method is sharing the Scriptures. Despite these differences, both are two inspirational figures who contextualize their faith in God by being in solidarity with and living with the poor. The suffering experienced by the marginalized has honed the sensitivity to act and the ability to go beyond the boundaries of social partition. They do not confine themselves to a sacred space and stay away from the profane world, but instead merge themselves into the midst of people who are marginalized either by an oppressive regime or by stigmatization. Romero and John are models of involved priests because for them involvement with the marginalized is a form of priestly accountability before God and the people they serve.Key words : involved priest, profile, method, Oscar Romero, John Prior
