Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of compost formulas given Trichoderma spp, and bacteria on growth and yield of chilli variety Hot Marconi and resistance to P. capsica L. PCSTL2. The experiment was conducted in laboratory of Balitro and greenhouse at Cikabayan, IPB in May to November 2011. The experiment pot used Randomized Block Analysis with 3 replicated. Formula compost as treatment are (A). Manure + A. conyzoides var hirtum (Lam) + sago residue + Trichoderma spp, (B). Manure + A. conyzoides var hirtum (Lam) + sago residue + bacteria, (C). Manure + T. diversifolia (Hamsley) A. Gray + sago residue + Trichoderma spp, (D). Manure + T. diversifolia (Hamsley) A. Gray + sago residue + bacteria, (E). Manure + A. conyzoides var hirtum (Lam) + sago residue + Trichoderma spp + bacteria, (F). Manure + T. diversifolia (Hamsley) A. Gray + sago residue + Trichoderma spp + bacteria. The results showed that treatment of formula compost significant improve on growth and yield of chilli and the incidence disease against P. capsici L. PCSTL2 and first harvest chilies. Although the treatment of compost formula showed lower growth and higher incidence of disease but is able to increase the yield of chili than control.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growing ability of cuttings derived from the top, middle and bottom branches of the gedi plant. Research conducted ecperimentally by using a randomized block design (RAK), which consists of 3 treatment namely cuttings derived from top, middle and bottom branches of the plant. The results showed that the position of the branch significantly affected the shoot formation time and shoot length, but not to shoots and leaf’s number. Cuttings from top and middle branch performed better vegetative growth than those from the bottom branch.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the potency of gulma plant in jayawijaya region to become medicinal plants. Purposive Sampling method was being used in the data collection. The result of the inventaritation research found that there are 18 weeds utilized as medicine plants in jayawijaya region, namely: : Babandotan (Ageratum conyzoides), Rumput Gajah (Pannisetum purpureum), Putri Malu (Mimosa pudica), Kukuyaan (Corenia violacea), Ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.), Kecimbling Hijau dan Merah (Stachytarpheta mutabilis Vahl), Rumput Teki (Cyperus rotundus), Rumput 9 Dewa, Alang-Alang (Imperata cylindrica), Tapak Kuda/Gagan (Cantella asiatica L.), Patikan Emas (Euphorbia hirta L.), Biji Kacang, Boborongan (hyptis brevipes Poit), Bayam Berduri (Amaranthus spinosus L.), Urang-Aring (Eclipta prostrata L.), Tembelekan (Lantana camara L.), Tunjuk Langit, and Rumput Mutiara (Hedyotis corymbosa (L).

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the system of seed storage by the community of Pegunungan Arfak Anggi District traditionally has been done for generations to preserve local wisdom. Results from this study are expected to provide information to the public and the government about seed storage system traditionally has been done for generations in the community Anggi. Seed storage systems in seven villages in the district Anggi is still using seed storage techniques based on local wisdom that has been done for generations. Seed storage system which is unique in the storage Anggi noken system for storing seed potatoes and pumpkin plants to store grain. In addition, seed drying is done in 2 ways, namely dried and placed near the fireplace.

Abstract

Pokem (Papuas’s wheat) is an endemic plant origin from Numfor island. Cultivation of pokem is traditionaly, small scale, and without the addition of fertilizer. This study aims to determine the status of soil fertility in the land of pokem in Bawey village at district of Eastern Numfor. Results from this study are expected to be the initial information for improving and developing crop production of pokem and other agricultural crops. The method used in this research is descriptive method, with the technique of field observation and laboratory analysis. The analysis showed that, the soil physical in location research dominated by sandy clay loam texture with subangular blocky structure. The chemical soil are neutral of pH, CEC and K classified as very low, N-total low to moderate, Ca ranged from low to very low, low Mg, Na very low to high and very high of KB. Based on the results of the analysis of soil properties and criteria for assessment of the Soil Research Center (1983) the status of soil fertility at study sites classified as very low.

Abstract

This research aim to study the effect of organic mineral fertilizer dose level T-2 Gifts and goat manure on growth and yield of tomato. This research was conducted in the Green House Fapertek UNIPA Manokwari. This study used an experimental method and is designed using completely randomized design (CRD) berfaktor. The treatment consisted of five dose levels of organic mineral fertilizer T-2 Gifts and goat manure 2 dose levels. Interaction dosage of goat manure and organic mineral soil remediation doses of T-2 gift giving real influence on the observation variables days to flowering plants and heavy fruit crop harvest. Dose levels of organic mineral soil remediation T-2 gift giving real effect to all variables observation.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the type of fungus that causes the appearance of spots on the leaves of pokem. Descriptive method were used in this research with laboratory observation technique which consisted by preparation, sampling of pokem leaf, isolation, purification, innoculation and the observation of pathogen character. The result showed that the pathogen causing pokem (Setaria italica L.) leaf spot was a fungal pathogen Cercospora jenseana, f. Sp. Setariae which can be seen from the symptoms of the plant through the koch postulate test and the identification of color, shape and character of the colony, mycelium, hyphae, and spores.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the rate of soil erosion occuring at the slope area of Warmare and the improvement needed to support sustainable farming activities without causing major risk to the enviroment and human safety. The research was conducted with soil survey techniques and descriptions of soil survey results and land evaluation. Data analysis is done by tabulation. Slope farming system were planned after knowing the potential and constrain based on the prediction of erosion rate done by using Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) equation. The results found that the actual land erosion rates of the slope area at Warmare for each SPT: SPT 1 (56.24 tons/ha/year) for secondary forest area, SPT 2 (2552.63 tons/ha/year) for cultivated area, SPT 3 (2325,03 tons/ha/year) for ex-shifting cultivated area, and SPT 4 (9.88 tons/ha/year) for secondary forest area. The main trigger factor for the increasing of soil erosion rate in some SPT were slope and length of slope, and agricultural activities without conservation practices. The improvement techniques that need to be done to support a sustainable agriculture practices in the slope area is the application of soil and water conservation methods with the following stages: (1) The restoration of the slope area with the modification of slope length and slope level by using mechanical technique such as contour cultivation, rorak, and Vertical mulch application, (2) ground surface protection from destruction of rain granules and surface runoff as well as soil properties restoration by using vegetative methods; and (3) collaboration of cultivation techniques by using agronomic methods.

Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to determine productivity and adaptation of five varieties of soybean in Manokwari. The experiment was conducted at Prafi (SP4)Manokwari using completely randomized block design consisting of 5 varieties of soybean (Lokon, Wilis, Galunggung, Nakon Sawon and Local Prafi) as a treatment in three replicates.The results showed that all superior varieties (Lokon, Wilis and Galunggung) had good adaptation to be developed at Prafi, Manokwari for increasing soybean production. Productivity per hectar of all tested varieties were 1.35 ton (Lokon), 1.09 ton (Wilis), 1.02 ton (Galunggung), 0.72 ton (Local Prafi) and only 0.22 ton for Nakon Sawon. Nakon Sawon variety is not recommended to be developed as it had the lowest yield for all variables observed and had low resistance to be attacked by pests and diseases.

Abstract

Peanut economically is important because it can be used as animal food and trade materials. Cercospora leaf spot disease is the most notorious disease in Indonesian peanut plantation, because it was able reduce 50 percent of peanut production. The aim of this research was to study intensity of Cercospora leaf spot on peanut at the Aimasi village Prafi. The result showed that : 1) Averagely, disease intensity of cercospora leaf spot on peanut at the Aimasi village Prafi reached 95,7%, and 2) Cercospora infection was able to reduce the number of leaves and shoots, while the development of plant height was simultaneous with the increase of disease intensity.
