Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the farming systems and the utilization of sayur hitam (Rungia klossii) by the Mee tribe in the Regency of Dogiyai as well as to provide information about the nutrients in the R. klossii. Descriptive method with direct observation is used in the field to examine the farming system and crop nutrient content. Analytical procedures were implemented using Gravimetry and atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The analysis were conducted in the Laboratory of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Papua on April 2016. The variables observed by those methods include the identification of farming systems and the crop nutrient content in the leaves. Farming systems applied by the community to cultivate Rungia klosii is a mixed farming systems based on local knowledge. Based on the analysis of the nutrient content of Rungia klossii in terms of water content, oil content of fat, iron levels, manganese content, the levels of calcium and magnesium levels, the magnesium levels in Rungia klosii is 272.0892 mg/L which is the highest.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the best combination of IAA and BAP concentration to support the formation of protocorms and budding of Phaius tankervilleae in vitro. This research were conducted with two treatment factors that are IAA and BAP concentration levels. The results showed that there were no interaction between IAA and BAP concentrations to the budding explant percentage and leaf number while they were affected by BAP concentration only. BAP concentration at 1 ppm produced the highest number of protocorm

Abstract

Three varieties of seed origin shallot, namely Biru, Tiron and Tutuk were grown to be taken their roots for chromosom observation. The ratio of Chromosom arm obtained would be used for: (1) determine chromosome shape based on centromere position, (2) the homologous chromosome pair, (3) karyoptype composition. The result revealed showed that the chromosome number of the three varieties of shallot were 16 with the formula of chromosome is 2n = 2x = 16. The ration of arm length of the three varieties formed the same chromosome formula: 4M (metacentric) + 3SM (submetacentric) + 1ST (subtelocentric). This results revealed that the open pollinated shallot would form the similar karyotype with the parents.

Abstract

Inhibition of P. fluorescens isolates the origin of tomato, soybean and corn against R. solanacearum tested using a completely randomized design (CRD). P. fluorescens growth was measured at King's B medium by way of suspension antagonist put on filter paper of 0.5 cm in diameter. Inhibition of P. fluorescens is done by placing the antagonist suspension of 0.5 cm diameter filter paper on NA media that has been deployed R. solanacearum. The results showed that: (a) the growth of P. fluorescens origin of tomato, soybean and corn on King's B media were not significantly different, (b) the inhibition of P. fluorescens isolates against R. solanacearum not significantly different and, (c) the inhibition of isolates P. fluorescens origin of tomato, soybean and corn against R. solanacearum in vitro relatively strong.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the effectiveness of some plant extract as organic insecticide and the most effective extract to control P. xylostella in Brassica juncea. This study used completely randomized design with 6 types of organic insecticide as the treatment, i.e control (P0), Annona Muricata leaf extract (P1), Ageratum Conyzoides leaf extract (P2), Cymbopogon citratus leaf extract (P3), Carica papaya leaf extract (P4), and Morinda citrifolia fruit extract (P5). The results showed that all plant extracts were significantly controlled P. xylostella with the efficacy percentage more than 50% within 24 hours after the application. M. citrifolia fruit extract was found to be the most effective organic insecticide among all plant extracts.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effect of osmocote fertilizer to the germination of three genotypes of Adenium and also to compare the germination among three Adenium varieties. Factorial experimental method was being used in this pot experiment which designed by using Factorial Randomized Group Design. First factor is the 3 types of Adenium, while the second factor is 6 dosage levels of Osmocote. The results of this research showed that the addition of various dosage of the osmocote significantly affected the germination of 3 types of adenium. The effective dosage of Osmocote for adenium germination is one gram while the white flower adenium has the best germinability.

Abstract

This research aimed to inventory and characterize the types of sago from Central Sentani and East Sentani Districts, Jayapura regency, Papua province. This study was designed by using descriptive method with field survey technique. The result found that there were total of 36 sago types at Central Sentani and East Sentani Districts. The most sago types was found from Ifale and Yoboi villages for about 24 types. The less community understanding about the important of sago could results in the extinct of some sago types. External morphological character of sago may be used as differentiated key of sago at Sentani.

Abstract

The study was aimed to identify the effect of anorganic and liquid organic fertilizer addition to the growth and yield of tomato. Potted research was conducted in split plot design which is based in completely randomized designed. There were 2 treatment factors being used, namely anorganic fertilizer as the main plot while the sub plot was organic fertilizer. The results revealed that the organich fertilizer only significantly affected plant’s fruit weight and average fruit weight. Bioleaf was found to be the best liquid organic fertilizer.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to obtain the package information about the characteristics of first generation of eight genotypes of Manokwari-local corn which made strain based on seed color differences. The materials used in this study were eight genotypes of Manokwari-local corn, organic and inorganic fertilizers according to recommended dosage, and pesticides. Planting was done in the farmer’field located in Beach Amban, Manokwari. The study was designed using a single row and eight local corn genotipes which were planted in one seedbed with a size of 4m x 1.5m. Hybridization method used was artificially self-pollinating. The variables measured were plant- height character, stem character, leave character, cobs character, and seed character. Data analysis was done using T-test of the difference between the average value for each variable observed. Eight genotypes of Manokwari-local corn which have been evaluated on the characteristics of their vegetative and generative were vary. The highest percentage of seed color in a uniform cob was found in a population of Red-Kebar genotypes (94.4%) and the lowest in Purple-Anggi population (13.3%).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the adaptation of some high yield soybean varieties at dryland area in Prafi Mulya SP-1, Manokwari district. The randomized block design used in this study which consisted of 9 varieaties as the treatment, such as Grobogan, Mutiara, Anjasmoro, Detam-2, Burangrang, Agromulyo, Pangrango,Tanggamus and Local Prafi. The result showed that there was a significant effect ofsoybean varieties to the plant height and branch number.
