Abstract

Shelter is one of the most basic human needs. The high valuable asset of shelter makes it difficult to be reached by the people. In the urban areas, the limited supply and low affordability of the people tend to create slum and squatter settlements. In dealing with the slum and squatter settlements, the government provides decent housing for the low income people by using low cost rental apartment as one of the approachs. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the otential of Rusunawa (low cost rental appartment) program as one form of urban housing policy in providing low income housing for those who previously live in slum and suatter settlements. The research used descriptive quantitative method by collecting primary data from the residents of Rusunawa Kaligawe by using questionnaire. The study also conducted field observations, interviews, and secondary data collection that were obtained to strengthen the study. The results of this study show that most residents Rusunawa feel that rusunawa have better conditions compared with previous residence, supported by the availability of better infrastructure and facilities. However, one of the weaknesses is that there are no educational facilities, especially junior and senior high schools, provided around the Rusunawa. The Rusunawa Program is an effective program dealing with the urban slums and squattera problems. Rusunawa development can have more potential since it can also be expected to improve the quality of the neighborhoods through the township development approach. Rusunawa development can also be directed to a more human urban development, in addition to be the solution to improve the quality of settlements due to the availability of better and adequate facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, the development of rusunawa should be integrated into the development of residential development so as to be capable in providing the supporting facilities needed in the neighborhood

Abstract

A street vendors becomes one of the most prominent occupations in the informal sector where the informal sector depends on formal activity. Street food sellers become an alternative job when people cannot enter/join to the formal sector and they have to fullfil their needs. The development of Tembalang educational areas as well as the large number of migrant communities makes the emergence of increasingly increasing street vendorsin which the presence of street food sellers help to fulfil consumer needs. Over time, the number of street food sellers is increasing which makes the beauty and structuring of the city disturbed. Traffic jam is also the impact of the presence of unregulated street vendorswho occupy the side road and have no parking area for consumers. The increasing number of street vendorsmakes the competition among them to attract consumers, one of them is innovation in physical trading facilities, where street food sellers currently choose to use motor vehicles as a means of trading.

Abstract

Healthy city is a dream for every citizen. To gain longer life and reaching happiness in life is not naive. To achieve a city with no health dimension is not easy. There are key indicators, main indicators and operational indicators to be met. Hence, to reach a healthier city could not be able to be fed by the government itself. Healthy cities should be done by multi stakeholders, communities, business owners, religious leaders, community leaders, and the government should work together to make this happen. The city of Semarang has proved its recognition by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia with a healthy city award with a classification of “Padapa” or a healthy city award in the consolidation of the Ministry of Health.
