Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the causes of students' difficulties in speaking English. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. In collecting data, the researcher used a closed questionnaire and also a Liker scale to determine the factors that cause students' difficulties in speaking. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 30 students of class XI IPS. The results of this study indicate that the inhibiting factors, having nothing to say, the lack of participants and the use of the mother tongue can be a source of student difficulties. From these four aspects, the results showed that 72.40% of students experienced inhibition, 60% could nothing to say, 60.93% low participations and 64.4% used their mother tongue. It can be concluded that of the four factors there is one factor that shows high presentation value, namely the obstacle where most students have obstacles in speaking English so they find it difficult to speak.

Abstract

Pengelolaan kelas dalam meningkatkan kepuasan belajar sebagai upaya maksimal diperlukan strategi manajerial dalam pengelolaan kelas perlu dilakukan analisis. Pengelolaan kelas hal terpenting adalah rencana manajemen pengelolaan kelas, pelaksanaan pengeloalaan kelas, dan evaluasi manajemen pengelolaan kelas sementara untuk kepuasan belajar perlu mengetahui kompetensi tenaga pengajar, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan fasilitas dalam kelas sehingga dapat terbangun strategi sebagai upaya untuk menentukan Strategi manajemen kelas yang efektif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh a) guru perlu merencanakan sehingga pembelajaran terlaksana dengan maksimal, b) guru memiliki varian media pembelajaran sebagai fasilitas dala pelaksanaan pengelolaan kelas, c) guru yang profesional selalu melakukan evaluasi guna meningkarkan kompetensi sebagai tenaga pengajar.

Abstract

The content of this book is intended to address difficulties about teaching technique limits and instructor flexibility when teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to DHH students. This book focuses on conceptual overviews of the importance of inclusive English learning for all students, especially DHH pupils. The authors give two parts of primary research reports on the use of various English learning strategies for DHH learners in diverse circumstances, as well as theoretical studies on approaches to learning strategies appropriate for DHH learners from various perspectives. The initial chapter in this book examines comprehensive input strategies and treatments, including a review of the principles and theories that serve as the foundation for language learning for students with special needs. In the second section, the authors present some research findings on the circumstances and outcomes of teaching EFL to DHH learners.

Abstract

This research is intended to describe the academic writing levels of 13 EFL students at IAIN Parepare and to consider what is the students’ perceptions are about IELTS academic writing levels after finishing the IELTS Preparation class. The researcher used qualitative descriptive method. The researcher collected the students’ worksheet and assessed based on IELTS writing band score descriptors that consists of four aspects writing assessment criteria: task achievement and response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy. To gain information about students’ perception, the researcher guided an interview.The result found that 2 students achieved 7 band scores (Good User Level) as the highest achiever. Then, 2 students achieved 5,5 band scores (Modest User Level) as the medium achievement, and only 1 student achieved 3 band score (Extremely Limited User level) as the lowest achiever. The researcher chose three selected texts were written by MA who represents the lowest level of achievement, NQA who represents medium level achievement, and SHB who represents the highest level of achievement. The results showed that the essays mostly had difficulty in grammatical range (accuracy) and lexical resources, both in task 1 and task 2. Furthermore, the students assumed that the IELTS academic writing level/task were difficult. The students’ difficulties appear in vocabulary and grammar. The students’ difficulties appear in vocabulary and grammar. Achieving expert user level was difficult because English was not their first language. Also, it was the first time for them to introduce the IELTS test.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan riset ini merupakan Classroom Action Research dimana peneliti terlibat dengan bertujuan untuk menerapkan model belajar agar meningkatkan hasil belajar pendidikan agama islam. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas IX di SMPN 5 Pinrang. Hasil belajar pendidikan agama islam mengalami peningkatan melalui model pembelajaran thinking aloud pair problem solving pada peserta didik ditunjukkan (1) hasil belajar peserta didik yaitu sebesar 69,70% pada siklus Pertama menjadi 84,33% pada  siklus Kedua, (2) meningkatnya persentase ketuntasan secara klasikal dari siklus Pertama kesiklus Kedua yaitu 42% pada siklus Pertama menjadi 83% pada siklus Kedua, dan (3) persentase aktivitas peserta didik yang sesuai dengan proses pembelajaran yaitu 89% pada siklus Pertama menjadi 97% pada siklus Kedua.

Abstract

Students in Indonesia may understand theories in learning English but struggle to put them into practice.This research was conducted at SMAN 7 SIDRAP and the researcher wants to use Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method which emphasizes language as a tool for communication, the researcher wanted to compare the CLT method with the conventional method that teachers usually use at school, so the formulation of the problem in this study was to find out whether there were differences in learning outcomes between the CLT method and the conventional method.This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method in improving the speaking ability of students at SMAN 7 SIDRAP. This research used experiment design with Quasi experimental, the total sample was 40 students  that devided in 2 class that is 20 students’ was from 10 MIPA 1 as an Experiment class and another 20 was from 10 MIPA 2 as an Control Class, the result showed that the independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the two methods, with the CLT method being more effective in improving students' speaking abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang hubungan antara prokastinasi dengan kecemasan matematis siswa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel penelitian yaitu kelas VIII yang berjumlah 96 siswa. Data diambil menggunakan instrumen kecemasan matematis dan prokrastinasi siswa. Analisis data melibatkan analisis deskriptif dan analisis korelasi. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan matematis memiliki rata-rata lebih tinggi daripada prokrastinasi, meskipun variasi dan simpangan baku keduanya relatif serupa. Analisis korelasi mengungkapkan hubungan positif yang kuat antara kecemasan matematis dan prokrastinasi dengan nilai hasil uji korelasi yaitu sebesar 0,893 yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kecemasan matematis, semakin tinggi pula tingkat prokrastinasi yang dialami siswa.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam proses pembelajaran mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan Universitas Cenderawasih masih menjadi isu krusial yang berdampak langsung terhadap efektivitas pembelajaran di kelas. Tujuan pada penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui serta memahami berbagai permasalahan pembelajaran mahasiswa PPKn UNCEN di kelas. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pendekatan yang digunakan yakni purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian dilakukan melalui wawancara yang kemudian dikelompokkan dalam empat tema utama: kesatu, permasalahan strategi pembelajaran. Kedua, kendala pada akses teknologi. Ketiga, motivasi belajar yang kurang. Keempat, kondisi lingkungan belajar yang tidak kondusif.

Abstract

Online learning for English-speaking skills emerged as an alternative mode of instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic and created learning conditions that differ from conventional face-to-face classrooms. This study aimed to describe students’ perceptions toward online learning for English-speaking skills. The research employed a descriptive quantitative design. The participants of this study were English department students at the State Islamic Institute of Parepare. Data were collected using a questionnaire designed to measure students’ perceptions of online learning for speaking skills. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating mean scores and frequencies. The findings revealed that the mean score of students’ perception toward online learning for English speaking skills was 79, indicating a positive perception. Furthermore, students’ perceptions were categorized into two main aspects, namely learning facilities and teaching methods. Overall, the results suggest that online learning was perceived as effective in supporting students’ English speaking skills during the online learning process.
