Abstract

Traditional medicine system is still used by approximately 65-80% of the world’s population in developing countries because of its fewer side effects. Most of the molecules derived from plants are effective against different cancer with different targets. The review mainly deals different plants such as Alisma orientale, Annona glabra L, Tinospora cordifolia, Euphorbia formosana Hayata which are used in the treatment of leukemia. It throws light on the therapeutic efficacy of different plant molecules such as berberine, flavanoids, caffeic acid and kolavirion with the mode of action in different cells, which have already been used for the treatment of leukemia. This review will promote research towards the development of plant based drugs which could be used for the treatment for the cancer.Key words: Leukemia, Medicinal plants, Phytoconstituents and HL-60.

Abstract

The standard curve for optimum concentration of different lymphocyte samples, were carried by ELISA using the procedure mention in the ELISA kit , using He-Ne laser for irradiated samples for different time, this study found there is a good correlation between the concentration of tyrosinase and optical density R2 =0.9615, by measuring the optical density of lymphocyte samples shows that for healthy person the concentration of tyrosinase  more than patients but,  the response for producing tyrosinase for patient is more than that  for healthy person after using laser for different dose. This result indicates that laser radiation dose to enhance tyrosinase in lymphocyte to produce pigment cells. Keywords: Tyrosinase; Lymphocyte; Melanin; Vitiligo; He-Ne laser.

Abstract

Introduction: Nurses who work full time require religious support in patient care and professional documentation tools. The purpose of this research was to test a model development of patients’ satisfaction through nurse performance with an empirical study on innovation in nursing services and shariah ethics. Methods: A quantitative design was used with a cross-sectional approach. The samples were 420 postoperative patients. Respondents were obtained through multistage sampling. The independent variables were innovation service with Electronic Nursing Documentation and shariah-based ethics. Nurse performance was the mediating variable and the dependent variable was patient satisfaction. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire and data analysis with SEM version 22. Results: The results of this study indicated there was use of standard operating procedures in patient care about shariah-based ethics, which can improve the quality of nursing services where nurses can document the patient's nursing process comprehensively using Electronic Nursing Documentation (END). All the variables tested in the model development, namely service innovation, shariah ethics, and nurse performance, affects patient satisfaction. SEM test results obtained GFI (Goodness of Fit Index) values which should be within the expected cut-off value range (p Value ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: The use of SOPs on shariah ethics with END is interrelated between service innovation, shariah ethics and nurse performance and affects patient satisfaction. It is expected that nurses will be able to provide shariah ethics-based services and documentation to improve patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a cosmopolitan infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease outcome depends largely on the activity of T-lymphocytes. Certain variants in TIM-3 gene may influence the activity of these cells against the causative agent. To assess the influence of three single nucleotide polymorphisms in the TIM-3 gene on the susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis this case/control study included 68 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and 40 apparently healthy controls. DNA was extracted from blood samples obtained from each participant. The flanking regions in TIM-3 gene promoter for -1541 C/T, -1516 G/T and -574 A/C were amplified which PCR using specific primers. Allele-specific PCR or restriction fragment length polymorphism used for Genotyping.Keywords: Pulmonary tuberculosis, TIM-3 gene, single nucleotide polymorphism.

Abstract

Among phytochemicals, phenolic compounds are gaining an increasing interest for their health promoting properties. Faba bean has a large variability of the levels of total polyphenols in seeds. Red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) is an abundant freshwater fish with a white flesh meat. Customers prefer to fish fillet with more hardness and chewiness. Objective of this research focused on the effect of faba bean (Vicia faba) replacement in growth performance, feed utilization, muscle hardness and crispness of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) during rearing. The finding revealed that 30% faba bean in fish meal could improve the hardness and chewiness of red tilapia muscle while compromising to growth rate and feed utilization. This investigation was potentially applied not only for red tilapia but also for other aquaculture species so that the added value of fish cultivation could be enhanced.Keywords: Faba, Red tilapia, Hardness, Chewiness, Growth rate, Feed utilization.

Abstract

The study including purification and characterization of alliinase (EC: 4.4.1.4, Cys sulfoxide lyase, alliin lyase) from Iraqi garlic. Enzyme extraction with sodium phosphate buffer, pH 6.5, the extract was precipitated by addition of an ammonium sulfate with saturation (30-70)%. Gel filtration chromatography was done to purification enzyme by ÄKTA Pure 25 apparatus using superdex 200 column, three peaks were obtained with a good enzyme activity and an enzyme purity were identified by the absence of denaturation substances for protein SDS. Characteristics of pure enzyme showed that optimum pH for an activity was 6 and optimum pH for the stability was between 6-8, while optimum temperature for an activity and the stability were 35°C, 30-45°C respectively. Effect of ions Na, K, Mg+2, Fe+2, Zn+2, and Mn+2 was found stimulate enzymatic reaction while Ca+2, Ni+2, Cu+2 and Hg+2  inhibit the enzymatic reaction. Standard alliin used to determine a value of Km and Vmax and found to be 0.35M and 121.5 µmol/ml/min. respectively. The molecular weight of pure enzyme by electrophoresis technique with the presence of SDS was equal to 49 KDa.Keywords: Alliinase, Alliin lyase, Iraqi garlic, Purification, ÄKTA Pure 25.

Abstract

Objective(s): To determine the quality assurance for essential primary health care services in AL-Najaf AL-Ashraf Governorate, identify the relationships between the quality assurance for essential primary health care services and characteristics of the organizational system, client satisfaction, and provided service. Methodology: A descriptive study is conducted throughout the period of September 1st 2016 to August 3rd 2017. A simple random sample of (504) subjects is selected through the use of probability sampling approach. The sample is divided into three groups which include (18) directors of primary health care centers, (18) primary health care services providers, and (468) consumers.  A simple random sample of (504) subjects is selected through the use of probability sampling approach. The sample is divided into three groups which include (18) directors of primary health care centers, (18) primary health care services providers, and (468) consumers.  Data is collected through the utilization of constricted questionnaires and the interview technique as means of data collection and keeping records of all available contacts that facilitate the access to the study sample. Interviews are conducted with directors of primary health-care centers, consumers, and workforce. Each interview takes approximately (5-10) minutes. The data collection was carried out from March 25   to June 6 2017. Content validity of the instrument is determined through a panel of (15) experts, and reliability through a pilot study. The data are analyzed through the application of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis procedures. Conclusions: The findings of the present study indicate that the mean catchments population for PHC centers is high; shortages of the medical, medical assistants, and administration workforce. The nursing, medical assistants, and administration staff are poorly distributed, maternal and child health services including family planning and health education services are in critical level, consumers showed inadequate overall satisfaction with primary health care services. Recommendations: The study recommends that to increase the total number of PHC centers according to the numbers of consumers within area; collaboration and coordination should be initiated between Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education and Educational agencies to establish planning system to provide  PHC facilities with workforce needed according to the numbers of consumers within the area, taken into accounts national standards; provision of scientific booklet on standards operating procedures (SOPs) and guided by clear job description in all fields of primary health care service provision.Keywords: Quality Assurance, Primary Health Care Services, Primary Health Care Centers.

Abstract

Twenty  species were isolated from 50 samples of domestic's refrigerators in Baghdad city , during September 2016 which were  Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus. flavus,  , Aspergillus. fumigatus, Aspergillus duricaulis , Aspergillus novofumigatus,  Aspergillus heteromorphus Aspergillus aculeatus , Aspergillus nidulans , Curvularia lunata ,Penicillium sp., Fusarium oxysporum,  , Alternaria alternate, Cladosporium sp.  Trichoderma sp., Mucor,  Rhizopus sp., Rhodotorula  mucilaginosa,  , Stachybotrys and yeast. Among the isolated species Aspergillus niger, was the most abundant (14.92%) followed by Aspergillus flavus (10.14%), while less abundant (0.95 & 0.63 %)  Cladosporium sp.  &., Mucor  respectively.

Abstract

New1H-imidazole-5(4H)-one derivatives have been prepared to start from the reaction of 2-phenyl-4H-1, 3-benzoxazine-4-one with tyrosine. The reaction of compound 1 with thionyl chloride produced 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanoyl chloride2. Condensation of compound 2 with glycine afforded 2-(3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanamido)acetic acid3.The reaction of compound 3with acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and benzaldehyde derivatives yielded 3-(1-(4-benzylidene-4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl)-2-phenyl-quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives 4a-e.Treatment of compound 4a-d with hydrazine hydrategave3-(1-(1-amino-4-benzylidene-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethyl)-2-phenylquinazolin-4 (3H)- one derivatives 5a-d. The reaction of compound 5a-d with benzaldehyde derivatives resulted in the formation of 3-(1-(-4-benzylidene-1-(benzylidene amino)-4, 5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-2-(4 hydroxyphenyl) ethyl)-2-phenyl-quinazolin-4(3H)-one6a-6b.The structure of novel synthesized compounds were assured from IR, 1HNMR, and13CNMR spectra.Keywords: Phenylquinazolines, Imidazole, Benzylideneamino, Dihydrooxazole.

Abstract

Introduction: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) occurs due to an imbalance between cell proliferation and the apoptotic process. Many factors influence the growth of the prostate. This study aims to determine which factors among TGF-b, TNF-a,, PSA, testosterone, correlate the most the stromal-to-epithelial ratio of the prostate. Methods: The study was conducted in 83 BPH subjects in several hospitals in Denpasar. From all subjects, blood was taken for PSA and testosterone examination. TGF-b and TNF-a were examined from the histopathological examination of prostate tissue specimens. Data were collected, then statistical analysis was done with SPSS 22.0. Results: From all parameters, only PSA was significantly negatively related to stromal-to-epithelial ratio, although the strength was negatively weak (r -0.28). Multivariate analysis showed that the combination of PSA and TGF- levels had an effect of 10.8% on the epithelial-stromal ratio. Conclusion: PSA showed a significant association with the ratio of prostate epithelial stroma and had an effect value of 10.8% when combined with TGF-bKeywords: Prostate enlargement, Epithelial-stromal ratio, TNF-α, TGF-β, PSA, Testosterone.
