Abstract

Those who are familiar with religion and its evolutionary teachings endorse its extraordinary effect on individual and social life of human being; although there is difference of opinion regarding the scope of this influence. Some believe in the maximal role of religion and some believe in its minimal role, but what has been accepted by both groups is the very involvement of the religion in all human affairs. The current essay deal with human expectation of religion and at the same time discusses the influence of religiosity on the family life according to Imam Reza (peace is upon him). Moreover, it also debates the necessity of formation of family and its functions in the production and preservation of generation, providing peace, sense of integration and purity of generation and also such factors strengthening family foundation as generosity, good manner, adornment, and satisfaction of sexual instinct. Keywords: Life Framework, Religiosity.

Abstract

Introduction: Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder caused by damage to melanocytes which causes loss of pigment production on the skin and mucosal surfaces. The etiology of vitiligo is still unknown, but there are several theories regarding the occurrence of damage and death of melanocytes in vitiligo. One is a widely known theory is the theory of oxidative stress. The body has a defence mechanism against free radicals through the formation of antioxidants, one of which is glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Increased free radicals will result in decreased levels of glutathione peroxidase. This study aims to prove the correlation between plasma glutathione peroxidase and an increase in the severity of vitiligo. Method: The study design using an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach in vitiligo patients at Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. Sampling were done with consecutive sampling technique involving 40 vitiligo patients and 20 non-vitiligo controls that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood sampling was performed to measure GPx plasma levels and physical examination to measure the severity of vitiligo based on VASI scores. The collected data were analysed using SPSS version 23.0 with normality test, unpaired T test, correlation test and chi-square to get the prevalence ratio (PR).Result: The results showed a lower level of GPx plasma in vitiligo patients (72.3 ± 82.5 ng/mL) compared to non-vitiligo (160.63 ± 124.33 ng/mL) subjects (p<0.05), low GPx levels were a risk factor for vitiligo with a prevalence ratio (PR 1.57; CI 95% = 1.89-2.776; p<0.05) and plasma GPx levels have a strong negative correlation with the degree of vitiligo severity based on vitiligo area severity index (VASI) scores in vitiligo subjects (r=-0.60; p <0.05) Conclusions in this study there is a negative correlation between plasma GPx levels with vitiligo severity and low GPx levels are risk factors for vitiligo. Keywords: Glutathione peroxidase, Vitiligo, Vasi score.

Abstract

Simple, rapid and reproducible methods were established for quantitative determination of Sitagliptin (SIT) and Metformin (MET) spiked with plasma using an Onyx C18 Monolithic column  connected with an Onyx C18 guard cartridge.  and PDA detection at 210 nm. The mobile phase was MeOH, ACN, 0.01mM KH2PO4 (pH 3.5±0.5), adjusted with freshly prepared 10% orthophosphoric acid.  was pumped at 0.492 mL/min. The method was linear between 0.5-2.5 µg/mL, statistically validated for its linearity, precision and accuracy. The precision was found to be less than 1% showing high precision of the assay method. It was found that the excipients in the commercial tablet did not interfere with the method. Developed method can routinely use for the estimation of SIT and MET related compounds from the dosage form spiked with plasma.

Abstract

The optical nonlinearity of several thiazine dyes such as(azure A and azure B) organic dyes doped with nanoparticles of liquid crystals in ethanol solvent has been studied using diode pump solid state laser at wavelength(457 nm) and power (56 mW) as the source of excitation. The optical responses were characterized by measuring the intensity dependent refractive index (n2) of the medium using the Z-Scan technique. The results indicate that the samples of organic dyes doped with nanoparticles of liquid crystals possess very large linear and nonlinear optical properties as compared with samples of pure organic dyes. This result showed that these organic doped dyes are very suitable for applications in optical devices and can be available for applications as active laser medium. Keywords: Organic laser dyes, Z-Scan technique, Nonlinear optical properties, Liquid crystals.
