Abstract

The availability of an adequate amount of electricity and its utilization is essential for the growth and development of the country. Development of distribution systems result in higher system losses and poor voltage regulation. Consequently, an efficient and effective distribution system has become more urgent and important. In medium voltage electrical distribution networks, reformed the loss reduction is very important and certainly in line with this, system engineering issue and use of proper equipment, a good work has been done. Hence proper selection of conductors in the distribution system is important as it determines the current density and the resistance of the line. In this paper examines the use of different evolutionary algorithm, imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) to optimal branch optimization Reconstruction of aging of overhead conductors in t radial distribution systems with objective function to reduce the sum of capital cost and power loss cost and voltage deviation. This algorithm is easy to programming and needs no approximation of actual condition. The proposed method can be applied for optimal planning of radial electric distribution systems. Effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by case study in a radial network.Keyword: Optimization, Reconstruction, aging of overhead conductors, Imperialism Competitive Algorithm (ICA), Radial Distribution Networks, back/forward sweep, Voltage profile, Loss Reduction.

Abstract

Ginger plant is a well-known spice and flavoring agent which has also been used in traditional medicine in many countries. Ginger contains essential oils including Gingerol and Zingiberene. Zingiberene is a monocyclic sesquiterpene that gives a distinctive flavor to ginger. The quantum theoretical calculations for Zingiberene were performed by using HF/6-31G, HF/6-31G(d), B3LYP/6-31G, B3PW91/6-31G and BLYP/6-31G level. The EHOMO-1, ELUMO ELUMO+1, HOMO-LUMO energy gap (Eg), and dipole moment (µD) obtained for Zingiberene. According to the calculated HOMO and LUMO energies, molecular properties such as Ionisation Potential (I), Electron affinity (A), chemical hardness (η), electronic chemical potential (μ) and electrophilicity (ω) obtained and also show that charge transfer occurs in Zingiberene. The frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) and molecular electrostatic potentials (MEPs), the chemical shielding tensors (CS), thermodynamic parameters, natural charge and NBO analysis were investigated for title structure by theoretical calculations. Keywords: Ginger, Zingiberene, Energy gap, Natural charge, NBO analysis.

Abstract

Introduction: Lycopene is a red carotenoid that is effective in controlling body weight. Ghrelin is an appetite-stimulating peptide that plays a key role in the regulation of energy balance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of lycopene on ghrelin serum level in adult female rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 32 adult female Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups of 8 rats including monitoring, control, experiments receiving lycopene (at concentrations of 5 and 10 mg/kg). The animals were fed by gavage of lycopene. Twenty-nine days after the start of the experiment and after weighing the animals, cardiac puncture was performed and serum ghrelin level was measured. The results were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan’s test at P ≤ 0.05.Results: The concentration of lycopene 10 mg/kg significantly decreased the ghrelin hormone as well as the average body weight more than the control group (P ≤ 0.05).Conclusion: Lycopene reduces body weight by decreases serum ghrelin levels. Keywords: Lycopene, Ghrelin, Body Weight, Rat

Abstract

In this paper, a novel approach is proposed by using optimal state feedback, based on the reduced – order observer structure. The Linear Observer Method was adopted in this paper to study the SSR damping characteristics with TCSC. The study system was modified from the IEEE Second benchmark model by changing a part of the fixed series capacitor to TCSC. It is tried to stable torsional modes of turbine – generator units and improve their damping by using optimal linear control, with an practical viewpoint. The proposed method is applied to the IEEE Second Benchmark system for SSR studies and the results are verified based on comparison with those obtained from digital computer simulation by MATLAB.Keywords: optimal state feedback, TCSC, SSR, MATLAB software.
